Spot on for a winter break

by TripAdvisor Member LandS21

We have just returned from a week long break at Los Alisios Apts in Fuerteventura - to escape the plumetting English temperatures.

The accommodation comprises two storey appartments, recently refurbished and of pretty good quality. The pool area is excellent and there is a small bar, reception with internet access etc. What you would normally expect really. The staff are mainly English and very helpful.

Our apartment was kept spotless with regular cleaning, fresh towells and bed linen. The beach and town centre are a few minutes stroll away and we were quite happy to spend our time in resort. This was our second visit to Corelejo and we did the sand dunes thing the last time - highly reccommended with a car but we just wanted to do very little and chill out this time (and we did!). The beach in resort is ok and although the sea was quite cold, we gave it a go once or twice.

There is pleny to do at night with a variety of restaurants, bars etc. We like to go out for a meal, have a walk, a few drinks - not the party animal types anymore. Try La Teresa, our favourite restaurant for steak or meat. Top quality and popular too. The Italian place at the bottom of the main street was excellent for pizza. This is the music square with live acts. Not bad and quite entertaining, plus you can sit and have a relaxed drink or two.

If you cut down on to the beach/harbour front, there are some nice places to stop off and the walk is pleasant.

The weather was a bit disappointing with lots of cloud and a bit of rain, but the temperature remains high so it's still warm. It certainly didn't spoil things. I would suggest a jacket at night though.

All in all we had a very enjoyable time and would reccommend Los Alisios apartments - they are in a good location for amenities but far enough away to be peaceful.

brilliant holiday resort/recomended

my huband and myself have just returned from fuertaventura, we have been about nine or ten times before and love the place,it is the first time we have stayed at los alisios apartments and we was very impressed, even though they was still upgrading the pool, and the workmen was there, everyday, up to tues of our second week, it was not a problem, the rooms had already been upgraded and were very clean, and comfortable, the maids were very pleasent and in the reception (rachel) "and john" in rachels absence were very pleasent and helpful they do an exellent job and we can`t praise them enough, all we can say is thank you for making our holiday very special, we will certainly go back ,rachel ,(don't forget colin fry) we also had five cats that adopted us while we was there, they had all been spayed or neutered, and it was a pleasure, to see they are being well looked after, they have their own cat cafe in the complex, i hope people will carry on looking after them and giving donations for their upkeep, it makes up for all the ones that are neglected,we have been going to fuerteventura now for quite a few years when we first went there was hardley any shops or complexes, and now its really coming on i just hope it doesn`t change too much, we always go to our special restaurant while we are there, its the steak house la teretsa we would strongly recommend it, great food, and the staff are so friendly and helpful the maitre de has been there for a long while and always makes us welcome every time we go, and for breakfasts the hot spot( waterside) is just what it says, its another good place to have exellent food and friendly people, we used to have a mini train, but for some reason they have got rid of it, i don`t know why because everybody loved it, The beaches are out of this world, and the sea is so clean, we will be back in february 2006 or before if we can, and we are looking forward to it and would recommend los alisios to all our friends so until then we will say thank you for a lovely holiday and don`t change too much.

A few shortcomings

by TripAdvisor Member emeraldblue

Went for a week on the 19th of November 2005. On arrival we were allocated an apartment on the ground floor near the pool bar. Whilst it was a bit noisy, the main problem was that the apartment stank of cigarettes. Leaving windows and doors open did nothing to reduce the smell. The smell was ingrained and made us feel quite nauseous. We immediately complained but were given quite negative vibes when we asked for another apartment. We put up with it overnight and were promised that a maid would look into it. Only when we were given another room after protesting the next day did the receptionist let slip that they were well aware the apartment had previously been occupied by 'heavy smokers'. What surprised us was that the 'smoking apartment' was allocated to someone else midweek. Hope they're ok!

Apart from the odd cockroack floating around outside, the place was ok. the pool area was quite attractive and the maid service was good. entertainment was non existent apart from the loud radio blasting from the pool bar 11am to 11pm! despite that, it's near to the centre of Corralejo, and an easy 10 minutes walk. Corralejo is excellent. Recommend a day trip to the Ilset of Lobos (ferry leaves harbour 10am), and go surfing with the guys at Flag beach. Water park up the road is also good but the water's cold. Also dont miss the Friday market near the waterpark. some great bargains.

Overall, would go back to Corralejo, but probably not to Los Alisios considering it's graded by Thomas Cook as 3 star! Dont expect the above problems for that rating!

Fantastic Place!!!!!!!!

by A TripAdvisor Member

Just come back after having a great time, the aparmtents were excellent. 2 mins walk to the town, but far enough away not to be 'on top' of it! 4 mins walk to the beach. apartments were clean, comfortable and newly decorated - all kitted out very sufficiently for self catering tourists. staff were extremely helpfull and friendly! lots of information in reception on things to do out and about. swimming pool/bar area was stunning, loads of palm trees around. use of their sister complex next door was great as you can have entertainment in the evening if you want it, buffett breakfasts and dinners availiable there cheaply 'all you can eat' . all in all a fantastic holiday, apartments great, correlejo great - 10 out of 10!!!! will definatley be going back

We have just come back from yet another fantastic holiday in Fuerteventura, this has been our 6th vist and our 2nd to the Dunas Caleta. The kids club team were great(Kev & Nicky) my kids age 6 & 8 had a brillent time and loved the kids disco every night. Aslong as there happy im happy. The place was kept spotless and maid service excellent. Gary wasnt there as he was on holiday but Nicky was Fantastic and we feel that we didnt miss out. Great resturants to eat out in we recommend Blue Jeans for steak and Di Napoli for pizza and pasta. The water park was good but not all of it was open quite expensive though and you have to pay for sunbeds once in there and no food can be taken in.
Still building work going on around but didnt effect us. Cant wait to go back!!

Dunas Caleta - a good base

by TripAdvisor Member Shaun L

Dunas Caleta is a great all round complex very close to the resort centre. Good for kids and adults too! Whilst accomodation may be basic the atmosphere makes up for it - especially with Gary and Nikki doing the entertainment. Have now stayed there four times and would easily recommend it.

not bad for the price!

by TripAdvisor Member nickcfc

Have stayed at the dunas Caleta 3 times now.
twice in January & once in April 05.
Booked through thompsons.
No probs at all, clean & tidy , staff firendly etc etc.
Pool quite cold , but once your in , its ok!
Only really used the hotel as a base , used to eat out every night at various restaurants.
Good location, just off the main road through the resort centre.
Will deffinately stay at the hotel again.

security issues

by A TripAdvisor Member

These apartments are in a good location for the town, have a nice pool area and friendly helpful staff on reception, the big concern is security. My husband and I had a mobile phone and a digital camera stolen through forced entry through the bedroom window. The staff more or less said it was our own fault for not putting everything in the safe. Annoyingly our towels were taken from the drying rack outside a couple of days later... our fault again as they should have been locked up! There were no warnings of theft at the welcome meeting yet we heard that several rooms were broken into and now, reading other reviews it seems that it wasn't the isolated incident the hotel staff tried to make out.

Better than expected!!

We got back on the 4th oct and a great time was had by all. Weather excellant and the location of the Dunas Caleta was superb. It was a stones throw away from the main, lively town of Corrallejo. The apartments were clean, well maintained throughtout our stay and felt very safe staying there. The pool was used by all the family and was very clean and is lit up well at night. It was quite cold but was a welcome relief when that sun came out!!. There was another pool on the other side of the site which was nice too but our kids found the little pool too shallow and small but i suppose great for babies and toddlers. We heartily recommend this hotel to anyone contemplating going to Fuerteventura and we are definately going back. Kids entertainers were brilliant. I just wish I had their energy!!

Loved it!

My boyfriend and I spent the last week of Novemeber at these apartments to escape the good old Scottish weather and had a great time.

The three star rating that most tour operators give these apartments is fair. They don't have fancy restaurants or loads of entertainment but they are immaculate and have all the basic facilities you need, the pool area is lovely and the location is perfect.

The apartments are located on a quiet street just off the main strip where there are shops and loads of bars and restaurants (try Slow Boat II if you like Chinese food!). The nearest beach is a five minute walk away but if you're a beach lover it's well worth a five minute (and only 5 euro!) taxi ride to the sand dunes. The beach here is gorgeous - it's huge, has soft white sand and crystal clear water.

Night's out here are helped along by the happy hour that the pool bar runs between 17:00 and 18:00 and also the size of the measures!!! The bar staff are really lovely and can provide good advice on where the best places to eat and drink are.

I can't wait to go back next year!
