Las Palmeras(****): Las Palmeras(****)
  • Tip Rating:
  • Nice hotel with every evening show. It seems it was fun but in Spanish language and I understood nothing. The feature of the hotel is cats. They were everywhere, especially at evenings. They sat in the garden benches or just walked among guests. Of course, cats live only in the garden outside and no animal was in the hotel inside.

    Club Hotel Bahia Meloneras: Bungalows
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • This is a new hotel in Maspolomas. Its a little bit away from the city center but its just a short distance. The hotel is great! Cute houses with everything you need. Service is good.

They have a swimmingpool, restaurant and a supermarket. The restaurant is cheap, but ice cream is very expensive. However, you might want to concider shopping somewhere else then in the hotels supermarket as it is very expensive. Eurospar in the downtown is quite cheap. The hotel is close to the beach. In the lobby is a computer (I am writing this there ;) ) 8 mins for 0.50€ - 16 mins for 1€ and 32 mins for 2€.

Overall this is a very good hotel with everything you need and what you do not need is only a short distance away!

    Photos coming soon.

Cruiseship the Australis: Cruiseship the Australis
  • Tip Rating:
  • I don't know but heard my dad say that a cruise in those days (1972-1975) was just about as expensive as a plane ticket. If it's true, I don't know!

On the way to New Zealand, our family shared a large cabin for 5 persons on the Upper Deck. It was fun looking through the porthole and seeing the endless stretch of sea.
On the way back, via Panama Canal, my parents wanted a 6 week holiday for themselves. So the booked a cabin, and my brothers and I were in a separate cabin on Main Deck, again with the fascinating porthole.
We saw our parents once a day at bedtime or when we bumped into them on the ship. At 7.30 a steward would wake us with tea and biscuits and bring the ship journal. We'd get dressed and run down to breakfast. Read the ship journal and decide on the entertainment which was offered each day. Then spent the whole day roaming about the ship, earning pocket money running errands (there were lots of nice old people on board), having lunches and dinner. Hassling the waiter for more dessert if there was cake, stealing biscuits from all serving points at coffee & teatime...
We'd go swimming, go to the cinema, buy Jamaica Rum chocolate bars, and tried not to get involved in the kids stuff because it was childish.
I don't think I set foot in the nursery once during that trip home, although children of 12 and younger (I was 12! and my brothers were younger) were obliged to have tea in the nursery.

    Bristol Playa Appartments,...
  • Tip Rating:
  • Bristol Playa Appartments, Corralejo, Fuerteventura

The Bristol Playa Appartments are an All Inclusive / Half Board accomodation situated on a small beach near the harbour Corralejo. There's plenty to do in the complex for the kids and adults. I have stayed there 3 times. The best thing about this complex is it's location, being only 10 mins form town centre. Also 3 of the best surfing breaks on the island(Harbour Wall, Shooting Gallery and Lobos) are all close to the complex, which makes it ideal for surfers.
