    Cheap and tired

    by

The San Valentin self-catering apartments were basic, relatively clean, but oh-so noisy. This noise wasn't from adjacent building sites or passing traffic, but from the residents of the upstairs apartments. Thankfully the nieghbours left and right were a lot quieter, though the first time one of them took a shower I thought they'd found a door into MY bathroom! You may find these apartments different but I had an unruly, inconsiderate bunch of surfers above me and I could hear every shout, bang, door closing, burp, laugh, etc. which went on till 1:30am every night without fail. I'd swear they re-arranged their furniture every night. With hammers. Sound-proofing seems to have been an unknown concept when these buildings were erected.

I made little use of the facilities, preferring to get out and about from dawn till dusk and just use the apartments for eating & sleeping (after I'd found my ear-plugs).

If you're after basic, cheap & cheerful accommodation and noisy neighbours don't bother you, this will do you fine. If you need peace & quiet, you may have to look elsewhere.

Unique Quality: I don't think there's anything at all that's outstanding about this place except how easily you can hear every sound from neighbouring apartments. There were two or three pools, with showers, a bar, and a restaurant. Oh yes, and a tennis court and a pool table. The table tennis table seemed to have been turned into a painter and decorator's accessory and was certainly not in a fit state to use. I doubt it will ever recover!

Directions: At the southern end of Corralejo. Look out for the multi-coloured paintwork - it's hard to miss!
