sand dunes? Corralejo vs Jandia
by eugene.uk
Hi there
We are planning a holiday on Fuerteventura and since the island's main feature seems to be its sand dunes, we would like to stay somewhere near these. However, we are rather undecided between Corralejo or Jandia. In your opinion, which are more spectacular?
Thanks!

Hie I'm Claudio and i'm italian but i have 15 y.o. experience of this island also because i have home there and also one little apartment for rent..

Fuerteventura is one small island only 120 km from nord or sud top and large maximum 40 km
In Fuerte there are 80 km of WHITE sand beaches in all the island (140 big and small beaches)
The best places for sand dunes is Corralejo and all the Grandes Playas or the nearest places where you can found ..the best others beaches for my are: El cotillo an Maianicho in the North.
In the sud very fine is Costa calma and Morro el Jable and one other part name La pared BUT in the sud of island.. the wind sometimes is strong!!
THERE ARE ALSO others PARTs AND BEACHES that you only visit by one 4x4 car like for example Playa de cofete its's one very beautifull island!! i Suggest to stay minimum 2 weeks!! bye Claudio (pls apologie my for english lenguage)

Grazie Claudio!
I guess the wind factor is something to bear in mind.
This may sway our preferences towards Corralejo.
Thanks again.

Travel Tips for Isla de Fuerteventura
Dormant Volcanoes
by Nixter01
This was taken on our first day out, I was suprised just how many small volcanoes like this there was scattered about the Island, like the Uk with its Red Buses this had baby Volcanoes !!
I love this Island and cant wait to return The people are warm, friendly and will go out their way to make your holiday the best.
Supermarkets
by ak47uk
There are lots of supermarkets in Corralejo but I found that going to ones like the HiperDino you have more choice of products and lots more variations of fresh fruit, meat and vegetables wich is handy if you are on a self catering holiday.
Windsurfing
by lomi
The windy conditions of Fuerteventura are ideal for Windsurfing, the day and residential schools are right on the beaches near the harbour in Corelejo or amongst the white dunes near Hotel Oliva Beach.
In July/August in the south of the island, at Sotavento, near Jandia and Costa Calma, the World Windsurfing championships are held.
Puerto del Rosario
by bijo69
This little provincial town is the capitol of Fuerteventura. It's a pleasant place, but it's lacking any major attractions.
There's a small museum dedicated to the poet and philosopher Miguel de Unamuno who was exiled to Fuerteventura in 1924 after critizing the political establishment.
Feeding the chipmunks!
by mazzap
If you take a tour of the island by coach, chances are it will probably make a brief stop at a popular spot in the hills where chipmunks run wild and free. It is possible to get right up close as these cute little creatures are fairly tame!
They will happily accept any sunflower seeds offered to them, so remember to take a snack sized bag with you! Our well organised guide Connie had brought enough to share out so we could all enjoy this delight!
