Cinco plazas lives up to the reveiws and the brochure.
We are in our 20's and went as two couples. We thought the apartments were spacious, clean, cool and exactly as pictured. Although no air con we did have a fan provided and it was cool enough to have the fan off at night. Th rooms were cleaned each day and were clean and well presented on arrival. The pools were large and although children were around and in the pool, the area was still relaxing! We didnt eat in the buffet style restaurant but lit ooked nice and seemed popular with the families staying there. There were activities which you were invited to join each day but there was no pressure!!
We loved La Orla on the "front" with four poster beds and leather sofas to relax on day and night. The Lannis restaurants are everywhere... good food but a very impersonal service. Generally we found in shops and eating places, people were always polite but not freindly and they lacked the personal touch we have seen else where. We also was dissapointed with the food in puerto del carmen... although there was masses of choice it was all steaks, chicken, pizza etc which you could easily find in England!! for somthing different head to the old town (£3 in taxi). The american indian bar is good with live bands eah night. Puerto del carmen and the cinco plazas seemed a safe place and we had a great time. I would recomend it to people who want a nice above average accomodation hol. We personally wouldnt go back due to the food choices and the impersonal approach of locals in the resort however I would certainly recommend the cinco plazas... toy wont be disapointed! (ps if you want a sun bed if you dont grab one at 9am you wont get one!!) xx
caters for everybodys needs
I've just come back from the cinco plaza on the weeks commencing 29th july 2007-12 august 2007. I would highly reccomend this place, as it is very clean and suitable for all ages. It is surrounded by absolutely everything, catering for your every need. It is a 5 minute walk down the hill to the main street brimming with bars and restaurants which hosts a variety of different themed bars and restaurants. I would advise you to eat at pinnochios, it hosts amazing waiters and excellent food. For the younger travellers, nikki beach is definately a place i would recommmend as it is 2 for 1 plus you get free shots and has amazing music. Overall my stay at the cinco plazas was a very enjoyable time and will be going back there next summer. xx
We enjoyed our stay in Lanzarote as it is a beautiful island with amazing, varied scenery. However we definitely made a mistake when we booked the Cinco Plazas. On the plus side our studio was spacious and well-equipped.It was also very clean. However if you are not into loud rap music and children screaming from morning to night then this is not for you. We even saw one little boy shoot another with an air gun! We could not drink in the bar because of the loud music and the behaviour of the children. There was even evening entertainment for children until 11pm.Perhaps this property should be advertised as "families only"?I would also not recommend it to anyone looking for good food as there was nothing remotely like Spanish cuisine. The gazpacho was permanently "off" the menu. The trips we took were great - Venture North and Volcan Grill. However, one we were really looking forward to, Lanzarote Uncorked, was cancelled with less than 24hrs notice. Just our luck! Maybe one of our more memorable holidays, but not for the right reasons!!!!
We stayed at the Cinco Plaza Aprtments for 2 weeks on the 15th July 2007.We stayed in a 1bed room apartment which was really big and got cleaned everyday (maids are very friendly). The Resturant food is fantasic you have got to try Papas Arrugadas they are fantastic, also dont eat at tequila bar on the main strip as the food didnt taste like food.Spinnaker which is above nettos next door tto the apartments does a fantastic sunday dinner and they also do a drag show and hypnotist show. The staff at these apartments were amazing always happy to help you no matter what(change your money at the hotel reception as its a really good rate). They is 3 huge swimming pools,a supermarket, internet room and a landry room.
The apartments are up a hill about 5 mins walk from he main strip (but you can not hear a sound on the night) where there is rows of shops, resturants, arcades, nightclubs, discos and bars. And across from them is the beach which is fantastic (we spent every day there recovering from the night before). There is some amazing bars (buy one get one free in most of them) But the reps will annoy you trying to get you in all the time,If you just find a good cheap bar and stick to that like we did ours was redz were we become VIPS as they called us. We went to the water park in costa teguise and the one across the water in fuerteventura they were both really fun and a great day out and we also went to texas rancho park which was an amazing experience they was 3 shows sea lion, parrots and birds of prey, then there all the other animals -tigers,buffalos,farm animals, crocodiles, pumas, snakes, horses the list goes on and theres pony rides and caneoing for the kids.
ALL IN ALL IT WAS A FANTASIC HOILDAY AND WILL GO BACK THERE
Great Appartments, Great Location...Loved IT!!!
These appartments are in a great location, a few minutes walk from the main strip and the beach.
They are located mid way up a hill but its not that bad at all but i would say its not suitable for wheel chair users!!
Our party went self catering & the facilities were adequate....2 hobs, a microwave, toaster & kettle. All kitchen utensils are included and you even get washing up liquid!
A nice touch was the bottle of chilled water in the fridge.
we did have a few meals out & if tex mex stuff is your thing then you will be in heaven!! However we went to PINNOCHIOS which serve very tasty food and have a wide variety of meat, pizza, pasta, salads etc.
Drink wise we went down the main strip to a pub called the TAVERN. its a trad pub but the welcome was warm and inviting. Also for cocktails go to the bar on the beach side..it has yellow lights...(sorry never caught the name of it). Not much range of cocktails but its the atmosphere you go for.....on a cliff edge above the sea, crashing waves in the moonlight!
If you want del Boy style cocktails with some fancy trimmings go to the GOLDEN CORNER.....you come out of the appts...turn left, down the hil, turn left at the bottom & walk til you see it. It aint far about 5 mins walk.
For shopping you have Netto which is next door to the appts. However the appartments have their own shop which isnt bad value at all.
Days out....TEXAS RANCH day trip. Its an excellent trip & well worth the money. There are shows and at the moment there is baby white lions! Fun for all the family. Also you should really do the WESTERN BONANZA. This is a night of cowboys, indians, line dancing etc. Its a great night out, very enjoyable and well worth €50.
SUBMARINE EXPERIENCE.....the whole thing is about an hour but again its worth it.
VOLCAN GRILL...dont get this confused with the southern sites trip. The volcan grill takes you over vocanic craters and lava paths and ends with a natural bbq over a pit that is heated from the ground.
As a final note, buy yourself a snorkel & go in the sea. You will see allsorts of tropical fish swimming very near the shore.
On a whole this holiday was excellent. Very relaxing, entertaining and hot.
I will definetatly be visiting Puerto Del Carmen and Cinco Plaza's again.
Nice place, good location, great for families
My family and I have just returned from a week at the Cinco Plazas. Although my wife and I stayed here some years ago (1992) we really enjoyed it and thought it would be great to take our young daughters (1 & 3). We were right, we all had a really good time. The hotel is located up a hill, but we managed fine pushing the buggy up there every night after a nice meal and a few beers on the front which is literally a 5-10 minute walk. The pools are clean and well maintained and we spent all our time round one of the smaller pools as our 2 bed apt was located right beside the pool. We tried the beach (well you have to really don't you) but found it very hot (even in Sept), full of 'fag butts' and we even had to pay 7 euros for the privilage of using 2 sun loungers. The girls enjoyed playing in the sand for half an hour and then got bored as the sea is not exactly 'caribbean blue' and after the pool they didn't fancy going in. We soon headed back for the cleanliness of the pool which made the girls very happy. The apt itself was generally clean but the bathroom was in dire need of renovation. The floor tiles were really dirty and the grouting was all broken. You could see that there had been several attempts to re-grout rather than completely re-do the tiling. The ceiling had mould on which had been painted over (several times, I'm sure) generally the bathroom was very shabby. The rest of the apt was clean and tidy and had full self catering facilities, we even had our own cockroach who lived under the fridge........luckily we only saw him on the morning we were leaving, how relieved was the wife! The staff are all friendly and polite and you can't fault the cleaners, ours even washed our pots. (A note in the room says that this is not part of the service) so we tipped her 10 euros for her efforts. In a one week stay the cleaner visits 4 times, however 1 of those times is the day you arrive! Strange that as I would expect the room to be cleaned prior to me taking it over. The other 3 visits consists of the next day (when you probably don't need a towel change) and then 3 days later (when you are desperate for a towel change) and the final visit is the day before you leave. In our case it certainly wasn't every other day as I've read on other reviews. Don't let this put you off though as CP is a nice place to stay in a great location and you could do a lot worse. We had a great time but probably won't return as there are so many other nice places to visit. If you fancy Lanzarote and want a bit of night life and plenty of family atmosphere check out CP.
just arrived home had an excellent time everything perfect people place and food lovely spent two weeks there and never got bored plenty for adults and children to do their was even a swimming coach there to teach people to swim and it was great crack rooms were always spotless and there was supermarket pool bar laundette and restaurant in the complex and all the staff were lovely i will go back again hopefully in the near future
My wife and I are just back from a two week stay at this resort. It is one of the cleanest apartments we have ever stayed in. we tipped our maid early on and she cleaned and changed towels/bed lined as often as we wanted. Mainly Bristish and Irish guests, most people friendly, lots of familys some couples also.
1)Make sure and ask for an upstairs apartment, they have really high ceilings, feel spacious and low noise levels .
2) evening buffet in hotel is good. it was €7.95 PP when we arrived but has gone up to €9.95. still good value depending on what is on.
3) best value/quality resturant is Mari Tony. 10 shimp/Avacado is €6.15, grilled fillet steak €8.60 or biggest T-bone i have ever eaten €10.50. they also give you free tasters starter/ dessert from the chef and have differnt ones every day. Only get a startter if you are really hungary. vegtables not good better off asking for a salad. mixed kebab also excellent as is any of fish. to find it walk about past mcdonalds/route 66 head for old town. At end of this stip. it doesnt look like much from outside but food is excellent.
4) any of the chineese on strip are also very good they range from €5.95 all you can eat buffet to serve yourself to €7.95 for a four course sit down waiter service.
5) day trip to the Rancho texas zoo worth the visit just for seal and flying hawks show. If you like hawks flying over u sit in the middle of the audotorioum as they fly inches over your head.
6) day trip to Fuerteventura well worth it if you like golden sandy beaches. we went on the princess ico from puerto del carmen. it cost €49 pp including lunch. lunch only bad meal we had in two weeks. not worth it. Trip back took over one hour alot of people got sea-sick and nervous. take the fred olsen large ferry from playa blanca. it only takes 20 mins or so .
7) drinks- geordie bar down the road pint of larger €1.50 from 1 to 7pm. or if out at night ask for two for one deal in any of large clubs.
only fault with apartmets was sun loungers- people get up early and put there towels on them and go off for day. we said this to management. overall great spot, close and far away enough to everything. very safe and family friendly . triple locks and bolts on doors, first time i have seen it anywhere. if you are looking for sun, sea, food, fun or rest, u will find it there
what a fantastic self catering holiday. rooms all surrounding the pool except for studios which overlook the road. very central location, hill not too steep as previously mentioned in reports. apartments clean and good kitchen facilities. we stayed in 2 bedroom apartment which was located by one of the quieter pools (three pools in total) beware pools freezing even in june!
