More about Plaza Palmeras
Fantastic Holiday - didn't want to come home!!!
We stayed at the Plaza Palmeras for the 1st time. The accommodation was very clean, basic but a little noisy from the 'Pool Bar' DJ and the main road running along side the bedrooms. The resort was excellent. This was our 2nd time on the island but didn't want to come home this time!!! Hire a car, there's plenty to see!!!
Graet holiday!!!! Beware of POOL BAR!!!!!
Ideal location just a short walk down the hill and your among all the action. Excellent beaches with loads of beds at reasonable prices
The rooms were very clean and the maid was very friendly you only had to ask if you required any extra towels or pillows etc. The rooms were basic but what more do you want we only used it as a base. We arrived just as they were renovating the appts. We had new beds and furniture and a new fridge
We stayed for 1 week at the Plaza Palmeras Half Board at a suppliment which was a mistake!!!!! The food was very basic not much choice all you get is snack food do ask for a salad its the best thing on the menu! A must is Alan's Happy Hour its the happiest hour in the restaurant (ring that Bell)!!!
All in all we had a cracking time in Lanzarote and would deffinatly reccomend the Plaza Palmeras but only on a self catering basis the facilities in the appts are enough to get you through 2 weeks. The staff are all very friendly and there is loads to do for kids.
Avoid the tout at the Irish bar.
It all depends what you are looking for as far as accomodation goes. The rooms are basic, but clean, the people are friendly and will chat with you if you take the time to speak to them. This area is on a slight hill...not nearly as bad as the old town. Very close to the beach and night life. My wife and I never sampled the cuisine because we like to eat out. You can't get a sun bed until nine am because they are chained and padlocked, which is a good thing if you like a long lie in. The Plaza Palmeras had a show in the pool-side bar most nights.
All in all, I'd say it was value for money.
didn't want to come home! loved it
We have just returned home from Plaza Palmeras on 22/06/06 it was the best apts in puerto del carmen we have been to. The rooms are very clean, the pool area is cleaned thoroughly every morning, and all the paths are cleaned by Dalious ( the young man who my daughter took a shine to) The pool bar was excellent a right laugh the staff are really nice and friendly Alan, Christina, Ali ( crazy chef) and Musa.
Its the 2nd time we have stayed there and we will deffo be returning.
Clean and freindly
Second time in Puerto Del Carmen, smashing resort for families. Check out Paradise bar, you are made to feel so welcome! Plaza Palmeras was off the strip up a hill....no issue for those without mobility problems, spotlessly clean, freindly and though the pool was too cold for me, the kids just didn't seem to notice.
The sun didnt come out to play as much as we would have liked and that wind can be very strong so we headed south in our hire car to Playa Blanca which seems more sheltered.
Go to Ricks Bar for a giggle and hire a car to check out the beauty the island has to offer.
Bar touts along the strip can be a apin in the rump, but just cross the road to walk along the seafront to avoid them or do what we did and have some fun with them. Barter for free drinkies and cocktails for the kids.
Dont miss a trip on the Blue Delfin cat, we've been twice and the staff are great fun.
We never go anywhere twice, but this is so laid back and kid-freindly it was worth a return trip.
Have fun...dont s'pose there's room in your suitcases for us is there????
Hi just back yesterday from Plaza Palmeras had a great time. Ali the barman/chef is one of the best bar guys on the island, SuperMario the receptionist was very helpful when i got my wallet nicked (More Helpful than our rep!) Really Clean and really friendly. Four points to remeber:
1. Watch the Spanish on Fridays and Saturdays (Will rob you blind if your on your own)
2. Go to the American Indian Bar because the guy we called George Clooney works there (the fastest waiter in the west, he was so quick we were stunned, you will see what i mean if you go)
3. Where possible take the back roads to avoid leafleters etc who hassle you do death to come in for a free shot, drink etc which never turns up.
4. Watch the bar staff they wait until you look a bit drunk and double the prices or keep you change etc.
Also a confession it was us who pushed the sun loungers in the pool. We were fed up of people getting up at eight onwards and queing til half nine when they were unlocked and taking like between six and eight loungers and handing them out to who they wanted. Anyway payback was great.
Excellent value for money!! RECOMMEND
Me (20) and my boyfriend (26) stayed at the Plaza Palmeras on the 5th Feb 2006 for a week.
Overall, we had a great time. The apartments are quite large, with a seperate living area, bathroom and bedroom. They were very clean and the maid came everyday which was very surprising, she done a great job.New towels, bed linen etc
You do have to rent the tv which is a rip off 1 euro for 40 minutes!!!!! we must have put so much dosh in that tv.
We had a lovely view of the pool, which is very large and also very clean. the food at the pool bar isnt very nice and its expensive for what it is. there is a few pool tables, air hockey and 4 computers for internet.
The apartments are situated up a hill which isnt at all steep, takes about 5minutes to get down. once down the hill you can either go left or right onto the strip which goes on for miles. there are so many shops, restaurants, bars we were spolit for choice every night.
the strip at puerto del carmen caters for everyone of all ages. if you want to sit and have a quiet drink of an evening you can, if u want to party till 6 in the morning you can do that aswell!! lots of children entertainment and arcades. so many places to chose from. there was also a big casino!!
the prices arent that different from the UK, some supermarkets are well over priced, we found the cheapest supermarket to be The Spa for all our self catering needs.
Our sun set rep Jamie was brilliant, he was friendly and very funny and didnt hassle you to go on any exursions. i would def recommend going on the Yellow Submarine though, so much fun and you see some beautiful sites/creatures.
the only thing to complain about was the Weather!! only one whole day of sun which was a shame, however there was plenty to keep us occupied. when the sun came out it was boiling but i def needed more jackets and some jeans at nightime, the wind was freezing.
i would def return to Peurto Del Carmen and the Plaza Palmeras apts, there were only rated 2 star but i feel they should at least be a 3 star. bargain holiday!!!
Nice place to stay
Have just returned from Plaza Palmeras, It is a very nice place to stay very clean. Had no problems with bugs, didn't even see any fly's!!!. The pool and pool area is always kept clean. The pool bar has some friendly staff although 4 days into our holiday all the prices went up by a couple of euro's (must be starting the holiday season). As a very fussy eater and not a huge amount of funds I found it very hard to find food in the supermarkets that we could cook. The best supermarket is the big Spar in Old town it's about a 20min walk, they sell fresh meat and is like a small tesco. I found the prices around Puerto del carmen very varied and more often than not quite expensive. The beach was wonderful the sea wasn't to cold either. I read on here before I went, people complaining about the hill, I personally didn't find it anything to complain about and I'm very lazy as I drive everywhere.
My friend and I got rather board (I know hot weather, no rain and were still not happy!!!) The TV only had Channel 4 and sky 3, which cost in the long run quite alot. The pool bar closes at 12 so most people would go to the late bars after then.
If I'm honest I would stay there again but would take more money and some cards.
Hope this has helped.
Just got back from a weeks holiday, found the apartments clean and spacious, although basic it was ok.Situated not far from everything .PDC is great, what ever age you are there is something for you.Plenty of restaurants, we loved the chinese The Great Wall, just down the hill turn left and its the second chinese on your left.( you get a free bottle of wine with your meal)
Would def go back to these apartments, great value for money.
I have just stayed at these aprts for a week and I had no problems. The rooms were nice, thew pool bar ok and good facilities ie table hockey, table football and pool tables. Another good point was the bars on the windows on the aparts first floors. it did make it look a bit like a prison i guess but iut was a god send as it enabled you to leave your wqindows open during the day without fear of anything steeling anything. i would recommend
