La Siesta by night by mazzap Beautifully refurbished - they were delivering the brand new furniture as we arrived! The whole hotel has been completely overhauled and is luxurious throughout.
In a fantastic central location and a 5 minute walk to the seafront -the hotel is set conveniently in a newly pedestrianised area with plenty of bars, shops and restaurants on the doorstep. Spacious guest rooms, plenty of sunbathing areas around a fabulous pool, and a very modern reception area make this a great hotel. Not so good was the restaurant food which although fresh and well presented, was lacking in imagination and choice. Ok for the first week, but a second week may have proved too boring!! The Arona Gran Hotel - decorated for Christmas! by mazzap I found out some friends were staying here while I was in Tenerife! After meeting up for the day, we walked back to their hotel. It is quite grand in the reception area and the pool area is tropical in it's design. NB. Since first checking out this hotel in 2004, it has had one of it's 'stars' removed - now a 4 star hotel it somehow has lost it's prestigiousness and appeal to me!
My friend's opinion was that the rooms were lovely - but the restaurant food and the evening entertainment was.........poor!! It's not really set in a convenient location either - a fairly long walk to the centre of Los Cristianos, but many bars nearby and along the way! The beach at the back of the hotel is grotty and is apparently due for re-development. Building work is going on close by too. A great place to stay if you don't intend venturing off-site, or you drive everywhere! Hotel Entrance by scottishvisitor Good facilities including two pools nice garden grounds and well furnished cool & comfortable public rooms. Bedrooms are comfortable & clean. Entertainment nightly - some good some not so. Couples only hotel. Restaurant a bit pretentious - the food is in great quantity but lacks quality.
The views of La Gomera & La Palma at sunset were stunning. Excellent views of the sea & cliffs. Theme: HotelComparison: more expensive than averageAddress: Los GigantesDirections: North of the more touristy Los Christianos & Playa las Americas

Simply beautiful - we stayed here for a week in February. Having watched it being built almost ten years previously, it was always my wish to one day stay here! I am now happy to say that having spent a very enjoyable week here, it thoroughly lived up to all my expectations. The Marco Antonio Palace is one of 5 hotels that make up the Mare Nostrum Resort. The resort (or complex as we call it!) is set in an enviable position right by a fabulous beach in the heart of Playa de las Americas. Nearby are many lovely shops (many are top designer names!), and plenty of restaurants and bars. There are 3 swimming pools all with towel service and many restaurants within the complex. There is a Thalassotherapy Spa and all the usual amenities one would expect from a luxury hotel. Rooms are not huge but adequate for 2 sharers! Balconies are also compact but again, quite adequate. Breakfast was included in our package and was as good as it gets! Prepared fresh fruit in abundance, a huge variety of hot and cold food, such as cold meats & fish, cakes, cereals, yoghurts, nuts, dried fruit, brioche, crepes and omellettes made to order etc. etc. etc!! The hotel interior is stunning throughout, glass lifts, chequered tiled floors, sweeping white marble staircases, and 2 huge chandeliers hanging at either end of the hotel from ceiling to ground floor level give this hotel it's luxury feel! Nothing was too much trouble for the staff here and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this as a perfect base for both couples and families with young children (kids clubs here too!)
Grand and elegant designs with a distinct Roman emphasis are all around the complex and there is a luxurious feel throughout. Entry cards are required to access the hotel grounds from the beach. Ask for a high floor for better views - we could see Mount Teide to one side and the sea to the other :-) Theme: HotelPrice: US$180 and up » Currency ConverterComparison: more expensive than averageAddress: Avenida de las AmericasPhone: 0034 922757545Directions: Centre of Playa de las Americas

There are 5 parts to the Parque Santiago Group. Nos. I to IV all have accommodation in the form of apartments whereas V has a supermarket, mini-golf and restaurants/cafes. We stayed in Parque Santiago III for 2 weeks over Christmas and New Year 2005/6. It was a fabulous base - everything you'd need is literally on the doorstep; the shops, restaurants, cafes and the beaches all within a 1 minute walk! All the PS properties are immaculately maintained with a whole 'army' of cleaners, maintenance men, security and office staff etc. working around the clock keeping up the standards to their consistent high levels.
Beautiful large free form swimming pools, childrens play area, spacious multi roomed apartments, individual balconies or patios, many on site shops and places top eat & drink, Spanish style architecture and tiling throughout all make up the Parque Santiago III complex.

We decided to spend my birthday in the Parador at the foot of the sleeping but active Volcano - Pico del Teide. - The hotel is a modern one and is the only building in the National Park. It sits neatly in its majestic surroundings and is a popular watering hole for the many walkers who pass by and has a separate cafeteria for those looking for refreshments and a comfort stop. There is also a fascinating geological museum. While we were there a conference of "vulcanologists" was meeting at the hotel. Our plan had been to get up early and take the first cable car to the last stop, from where a permit (obtainable from the National Park Office - Calle Emilio Calzadilla 5, Santa Cruz) is required to walk the last 163 meters from the cable car stop to the peak. On medical advice this plan had to be abandoned - the high altitude -3718 m.- and the sulphurous fumes may pose a serious hazard for people with coronary/respiratory problems. Although this was disappointing the scenery and changing colours, particularly from dusk to sunset, the comfort and good meal of the Parador added up to a great birthday! Theme: Hotel

almost too cool for planet Earth by morgane1692 The Thomas Cook catalogue lists this one as *****. They'll get no arguments from me on that assessment! The staff is multilingual and always helpful, and the hotel even has its own tour booking and car rental service. When they didn't have the vehicle we wanted they directed us down the hallway to the in-house Avis car rental office. Eureka.
Unique qualities? The pool area layout, for one...the landscaping and the waterfalls, yes, waterfall with an *s*, plural...the lower level pool which fronts the ocean and is in fact filled with actual seawater...What a dream it was, to step out onto the balcony and look out between the palm trees and myriad of flowers and there it was, the bluuuuue Atlantic. And we didn't have to squint or crane our heads around the corner, we had a full-on Oceanview. Thanks to some crafty negotiating. Muchos gracias! ;-) Theme: HotelPrice: US$120-180 » Currency ConverterComparison: more expensive than averageAddress: c/Gran Bretana * 38670 Costa Adeje * TenerifePhone: 00.34.922.74.60.00Directions: Officially, it's along the Playa de las Americas strip. Bedroom, Hoetl Trovador, Puerto de la Cruz by steventilly This hotel is ideally situated for the bus station, which is great if you're using it as a transport base! It's also well situated for everything else in Puerto de la Cruz, being only a few minutes walk (down the "main drag") from the centre of town, the cathedral, the beaches and the lido. It is a typical "tourist hotel" and offers a hot/cold buffet breakfast and a rooftop pool. Rooms are large, clean and comfortable and there is a room safe.

There are a total of 5 Parque Santiago developments in Las Americas, 1 & 2 are showing their age a bit but still look OK, but 3 & 4 are fantastic (5 is just a leisure/retail development). Beautifully designed and landscaped and with a fantastic pool complex, the apartments are spacious and comfortable and spotlessly clean (take a look at all of the pictures). The kitchen is small but functional, having fridge, oven, grill and 4 plate hob. There's also a toaster and filter coffe maker, but no microwave. You can certainly self-cater in these, if that's what you want, and we did cook for ourselves a few times on this holiday. The (reasonably priced) supermarket was directly opposite our apartment too, so we didn't have far to go for our shopping. With all the cafes and restaurants close at hand, maybe you won't want to be doing that too often though. Bars, restaurants and shops are all very close at hand and the seafront is literally just ouside the complex . It's a 20 minute walk from there to Los Cristianos and 15 minutes or so to the nightlife centre of Las Veronicas, if that's your scene. Otherwise the whole of Las Americas, Torviscas, Adeje etc are just along the promenade, at varying distances. I can't think of a better place to stay - even the swanky hotels don't have a pool area to match this one, and the rooms there are not significantly better either. Even if Parque Santiago wasn't a good deal cheaper than those hotels, I'd still choose it every time. The only drawback that I can think of is that there is no air conditioning. This is no problem in say November through April, but may be a nuisance in the hotter months. Theme: OtherAddress: Parque Santiago III, Playe De Las Americas, Tenerife

by ranger49 The Parador is the only permitted tourist building in the National Park so it really is the only place to stay. It was designed to blend as unobtrusively as possible with its natural surroundings so is somewhat devoid of any particular architectural character of its own. It does however offer the same high standards of comfort, service and food to be found at more flamboyant examples in the Parador chain. The Price was right too - we had a free night by using up all our accumulated points from our membership of the Golden Days Discount Scheme for over 60's. Other discount schemes are available to families and people under 27. NB. 2008 . The discount for over 60's (Golden Days) is now 30% not 35% as previously.
