I am thinking about a holiday here from 21 Feb 2009 what can I expect in terms of weather and local amenities etc . The holiday will be self catering.

Cookies

"Town of cookies"

Las Galletas, which means cookies. Is a nice little town with a nice little promenade. But outside of the centre, the tourist hotels start to rise up. But it still is a lot better than the big tourist places more to the west.

It can be very lovely there, with good restaurants, nice shops and a pebble beach. Which is not really uncomfortable to lay on actually.

If you want some peace on tenerife, but still want to be close to all the action, this is a nice place to start.
