Hotel near airport?

by demic

We will be arriving into Las
Palmas airport at about 10pm and really don't fancy the drive down to
rica where we are staying for the rest of our holiday.

Is anyone able to recommend a hotel/pension/b&b which is near enough to the airport to allow us to get there fairly cheaply by taxi please?

Many thanks. Demic x

If you happen to carry any electrical stuff like hair dryers or just a simple charger for your mobile telephone - you will have to take into account that the electrical systems admit only the 2 pin round plug as shown in the picture. If you are coming in from Britain you might want to buy an adapter to be able to use your stuff in Spain. It may be a little difficult to get it in any normal electrical store. If you happen to have a El Corte Ingles department store near you - they sell adapters for different systems.
The Spanish system is compatible with most European plug sockets – except mainly for the British 3 pin plug - so get that adapter.

When you walk around in the city you can catch a glimpse of the patios inside the buildings. Many houses have doors with wrought iron fences, leading from the street and into the patio.

Inside you can see the typical canarian wooden balconies overlooking the patios that are filled with flowers.

Cathedral Santa Ana

by Birsen

After you visited El Museo Canario, with in 2 minutes walk, you are in front of the Cathedral and plaza de Santa Ana. Check it out the Cathedral. They started to built it in at the end of the15th century. It took a century to complete, six architects worked on it. You can go up by an elevator to the top to see the great view of the panorama of the city’s oldest districts and settlements Vegueta, Triana, the rocks of San Jose, San Juan, San Roque and San Nicholas, as well as at the far end the bay of Las Isletas

Fishing Harbour of Puerto de Mogan

by mazzap

Walk around this fishing harbour and decide which of the restaurants to stop a while in. It is always busy with daytrippers and fishermen.

The rock formation to the side of the harbour is quite unusual. You can climb up and around the pathway and take a look down for a good view of the area.

The cathedral is situated on Plaza de Santa Ana, just across from the city hall. The buildingprocess started in the end of the 1400's but wan't finished until early 1900's.

It cointains works from canarian artists, like José Eugenio and José Luján Pérez. You can also find different religious arts and sculptures in the museum, Museo Diocesano de Arte Sacro.

The plaza in front of the cathedral is a nice place to sit down and relax, watch the people and feed the birds.
