Golf has been played in Gran Canaria since 1891, every day of the year, ever since the foundation of the Real Club de Golf de Las Palmas, the first of its class in the whole of Spain. More than a century later, the same settings that made the island a favourite destination for golfers from all over Europe continue to attract a growing number of people keen to play at any time of the year.
Gran Canaria's present facilities, considered by experts to be among the best in Europe, comprise five magnificent courses in various parts of the island, although they all fall within a 50-kilometre radius. Designed by qualified professionals, they are true havens where you can enjoy the tranquillity needed to improve your game or simply to practise your favourite sport. As well as these courses (which are, in addition to the old established Real Club de Golf de Las Palmas, the Campo de Golf de Maspalomas, the Cortijo Club de Campo, the Salobre Golf & Resort and the Cortijo Golf Center), a further three are under construction, namely Anfi Tauro Golf, Meloneras Golf and Costa Botija Golf, evidence of the continuing popularity of this sport on the beautiful island of Gran Canaria.
