Great appartments, very spacey, great size main pool with a smaller upper pool and a kids pool also plenty of sunbeds, well stocked bar and on site shop. I went as a party of 12, 8 adults 2 teenagers and 2 youngsters. I can say that the hotel was very very good but, and the but is not that bad, it is a bit far out but only a 10 min walk into las america or cristianos, 7 euros in a taxi. I would not recomend this place for a party of lads or girls on the lash as its more a family place. Restaurant is not great but i have had worse. Within a ten min walk you have the choice of billions (haha) of restaurants anyway. Get the safe for about 15 euros a week, in the room you have a two hob cooker, a microwave and a fridge that has a very small freezer. Golf course is right next door but i cant say much as we never used it but it looked well kept and large. The gardens have a small park for the kids to play in and these too are kept very clean and tidy. As i have said familys will love it but party animals will find the location too far out. I found the entertainment a bit harsh but again its a family place so look out for party games day and night that all the family can take part in. Reps were helpfull and always on hand, Forgot to say about the games room, video games two pool tables and the like. If you have booked to go you will enjoy it i think
What a fantastic place

Just came back last week from a short mini break. Stayed in the Villa Mandi. Didnt want to come home, weather great, apartments excellent. They were huge, clean and well equipped. Entertainments staff were great. If you have children this is the place to go. Childrens reps are great, nothing too much trouble, all lovely people. Kids will love them and so much for them to do.
We will definently be going back
Great hotel for families
by TripAdvisor Member no7helena
Just came back from a thoroughly enjoyable week at Villa Mandi which we found to be a great place to stay! "We" were two families with two small children each + grandparents.
Can't really think of anything bad to say about the place. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The apartments were spacious, nicely furnished and spotlessly clean. The pool area was also great and included a nice warm splash pool for the toddlers which was very popular with our kids. The two outdoor play areas were also brilliant.
The food was the only area we wouldn't give the highest rating - OK but not great. (But we could say the same about most of the restaurants we tried during our week).
The Villa Mandi doesn't have a central location but to us this was not a negative thing as it meant nice and quiet surroundings away from bars and clubs. It's a 15-20 minute walk to either Los Cristianos or Playa de las Americas, no problems for anyone who is fit enough to walk. Our 3-5-year-olds managed it most days as did their recently operated grandmother. If anyone was too tired to walk back the taxi only cost about 5 euros.
One tip for people planning to stay at the hotel: some small things you normally expect to find in a hotel room (e.g. soap, sugar, tea bags...) aren't provided in the apartments. So it can be a good idea to pack some of this, in order to avoid having to buy very expensive fullsize packets in the hotel supermarket. The same goes for washing-up liquid, salt, pepper etc if you are planning to use the kitchen.
All in all we were very happy with our stay and would recommend the Villa Mandi to especially families!
Excellent family holiday

We have just returned from a week in Tenerife staying at the Villa Mandi. My partner and I were travelling with our daughters aged 5 and 7mths and a fantastic time was had by all.
The thomson reps were fantastic and we really enjoyed the daily entertainment around the pool during the day which got everyone involved.
The apartments were lovely and spacious and clean. In fact the bathroom was 3 times the size of our bathroom at home.
We bought some shopping in the supermarket on site once and it was quite expensive so after that we on bought fresh bread in there in the morning for 1 euro.
We only ate in the hotel one evening, the food was nice but there was not much on the menu so we used to walk to a little strip of restaurants on the seafront between Los Cris and Las Americas which was a nice 20min stroll in the evening. Most night we walked back too but twice we took a taxi which was 6 euros.
We went on two trips the first to Jungle Park and the second to Loro Parque. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND JUST DO LORO AS THEY HAVE THE SAME AS JUNGLE PARK BUT LORO PARQUE IS BIGGER AND BETTER.
I would definitely recommend this hotel and would definitely visit again!!!
Lovely friendly Hotel

Like previous reviewers, it’s hard to find anything negative to say about Villa Mandi. This was one of the cleanest and well presented hotels we have ever stayed in. We had a one bedroom apartment on the ground floor which was extremely spacious and actually had a wardrobe in the lounge area for the member of our party who slept on the sofa-bed, so they were able to keep their clothes tidy and not have to share the bedroom space. There was everything you would need in the kitchen for basic self catering and the shop is convenient for most supplies. The shop is open every day from 8am to 8pm and cooks lovely baguettes and croissants on the premises each morning so we had warm bread for breakfast each day.
Although we don’t have small children I was very impressed with the play areas for little ones. Just outside our apartment there was a small fenced area covered by a ‘sail’ to keep the sun off, which contained a brightly coloured slide. Next to this was a small pool only a few inches deep for children to splash or lie in, and plenty of seating around them for parents to sit and watch. There was another play area at the other end of the complex.
The crazy golf course was popular with my two teenage girls, as it was interesting and challenging but would be fun for anyone to while away an hour or so.
We booked through Thomson via the internet, but as a previous reviewer has stated there was no holiday rep, only a 24 hour helpline. Although the reception staff were extremely pleasant and helpful and spoke excellent English, it is still useful to be able to pick the brains of the tour rep at times about small things that you wouldn't pick up the phone for! However, I don't think we missed out too much as we were only there a week and were quite happy to spend a lazy week by one of the pools.
We only ate in the restaurant one evening, and was rather disappointed with the quality - lukewarm lasagne and tinned carrots and fruit. I don't know if it was the same every night, but the day we went was a buffet for 15euros per adult and about 8 euros for children, and there was plenty of food if you wanted to eat a lot. We preferred to walk down to the port which took about 20 mins along good footpaths, to find a variety of restaurants. However, we did have breakfast on the last day (5 euros) which was buffet style again but with an excellent selection of cooked food, cereals, bread and fruit
Although we went during the Easter holidays, there were very few English people at the hotel, most were Scandinavian, but we didn't mind as they were very polite and reserved. We've been to places where the Brits have been embarrassingly rowdy, so it was a refreshing change
.
This was the first time we have been to the Canaries, and I found Los Christianos / Playa del Americas rather modern and lacking in character, and there didn't seem to be anything of any real culture to visit on the island. However, i would definitely recommend Villa Mandi to anyone looking for a quiet relaxing break.
Lovely hotel

I have just returned from a week at the villa Mandi with my boyfriend. We booked this allocation on arrival so had no say in where we ended up. We were impressed when we arrived at the hotel, it is lovely. Our room was brilliant, it overlooked the gartden area, clean, massive, nice kitchen, huge bathroom, nice bedroom and the biggest terrace ive ever seen which caught the sun in the afternoon so we did a spot of sunbathing on there! Pool area was large, very clean with a seperate area for kids and the pooll bar was good and reasonably priced.
Our rep meeting the next day where we were greeted by a man dressed as a huge dog showed that perhaps the hotel wasnt the place for us! Its definitley a family resport, all of the entertainment is geared at kids, and all of the activities are child related. If you have a young family then i have no doubt this would be the perfect hotel for you but as we are a young couple we needed a little more. The location of the hotel isnt great, a little way out so we found ourselves getting a taxi to and from Los Christianos every night for a meal and drinks. (costing around 6 euro each way)
Enjoyed relaxing around the pool during the day but again found the high proportion of kids rather annoying and the contstant interupptions from the rep all day whilst trying to relax quite frustrating.
We were self catering so ate breakfast and lunch in our apartment, the on site supermarket was perfect for fresh warm bread but was a little pricey for everything else, we were told of another supermarket a ten minute walk away but we got lost trying to find it so ended up at the one in Los Christianos instead. We did try breakfast at the hotel once (6 euros each for buffet) and there was quite a selection however we wernt that impressed (my pet hate, hot dogs instead of sausages). In the evening we went out for meals at Los Christianos and found some lovely restaurants there, i recommend trying Tepinyaki which had a long waiting list for a table but was well worth it for the amazing food!
The reception staff were brilliant, getting us a taxi in the evening and helping in other queries, brilliant english and always willing to help.
On the last day as we were kicked out of our room at 12pm and didnt get picked up for another 7 hours, we booked another room at a cost of 40 euros to use. This room was also very nice, but was at the front of the building so the balcony overlooked the main road, made us appreciate our room even more. Speaking to other guests there they were all impressed with there rooms and some were over 2 floors with a roof terrace!
As a last minute deal we couldnt be happier with the standard of hotel we ended up with, it was perfect, and comparing it to some others in the main resorts was of a much higher standard. My only compaint was not against the hotel but the fact it was aimed at familys with young children so if you are young then i wouldnt recommend staying there. If the hotel was located closer to the centre with less children i wouldnt hesitate to go back.
Fantastic Hotel/Apartments - ideal for families with younger kids
by TripAdvisor Member DebStNewcastle
The hotel, apartments and the Reps were fantastic. Apartments kept very clean and spacious, but please use the safety deposit box for any valuables especially cash.
The poolside was (as you would expect) overcrowded but very nice and the grounds were immaculate. TIP: don't go buying inflatables to use in the pool. Any that are left by departed holiday makers are put in the shower area near the little end of the pool and any left are disposed of by lunchtime - we sussed it by the second week and the kids enjoyed playing on huge dolphins, crocodiles etc and gave their inflatables to others.
Food is rather basic but ok if you can't be bothered to go out. There's a supermarket directly across what appears to be a building site (zig zag across the unfinished streets) it seems to be the cheapest around.
Day-time entertainment consists of water fitness which is a laugh for all ages and a couple of games for the little ones (under 12s) with water polo for 16s and over (apparently the insurance doesn't cover those under 16) which leaves nothing but the pool table or ping pong for the in-betweenies.
Night-time entertainment was abismal and appeared to be enjoyed only by the Under 10s. We tried it a couple of times and wished we hadn't. Head down to the nightlife in Los Cris - there's plenty of pubs down there.
The market is ok too - not as big as we thought it would be. The best shops, unless you want proper designer and proper designer prices, is on the prom between Los Cris and Las Americas. Watch out for the timeshare lot giving scratch cards away - they don't give up!
All in all, a lovely apart-hotel but not much to do for those with kids over the age of 10.
Fantastic Entertainment Staff

Just returned from two weeks at this fabulous Family Club resort from Thomson. Our two children were thrilled to discover that one of the reps was the same as we had had last year at a different, much larger resort.
The size of the complex ensures that all is extremely friendly.
Easy walk into Las Americas, Los Cristianos although closer is a little more awkward to find at first, but both areas have great beaches and lovely restaurants.
The Thomson Entertainers were a huge credit - Smiler Sam (our personal favourite!) Super Dooper Dawn and Boney M all worked extremely hard to ensure everyone had the best holiday they could.
Weather was a bit naf for the time of year, very cloudy, but warm.
Reception staff also were extremely helpful.
Huge tip - do not eat in the restaurant - food is just vile. Plus supermarket on site rather pricey, however we stuck to it for water and milk etc - just ate out most nights, very reasonable prices.
Thanks Thomson - third hol in a row with ur SuperFamily/Family Club hols and they are just fab!!
Fabulous accomodation
by TripAdvisor Member chrisuk1000
You can skip my blurb and just look at my recommended excurions at the bottom if you want.
I was determined to put a review in for this trip and as Thomson kindly won't publish mine on their site I came here. I'm told this is the one to use anyway.
Firstly the accomodation is excellent by any standards if you've travelled you will notice this straight away. No good moaning about the little things, and yes I found the air con is weak and the english TV was extra but overall this is as good as it gets or you're talking a 5 star hotel which is another world and another budget entirely. Don't worry its great and the cleaners are superb as long as you remember to use your door label thing! Thats why some people get missed out and think there are no cleaners I'm sure, anyway I found them excellent sheets and towels every day if you wanted! can't ask better than that. No nasty insect night life in the complex at all as far as I could see! Must not go on as people loose interest so its a summary of the important points as far as I can see. Here you go;
Kidds entertainment excellent, top marks Thomson. Mums requiring some freedom you must use this service.
Hotel Restaurant - food very mediocre I'm afraid, waiter service very hard working but can be overwhelmed and drop into slow, you may have to wait particularly at the bar.
Hotel reception staff - superb I would definitely employ them you will want for nothing.
Thomson team okay but don't forget your in a sales environment. Some of them appear to be out of their depth. Spoiling it for those that aren't.
EXCURSIONS -
my experiences are Do - Piramids of Arona (mint show, food pants)! Submarine trip, Loro parque (Excellent), Medieval knight (great fun but that castle?, Snake show (impressive)Mount tiede 4x4 (good)
Please I beg you don't do La Hacienda its ABSOLUTELY ATROCIOUS - (contrary to what you will be told by the Thomson sales Team)
Supplies and location -
The hotel is a little out from towm I sadly timed the walk at just under 20 mins to the beach, go right and straight on and your there. Otherwise there is a Netto to the right a bit then back to the left and straight on (sounds complicated it isn't) but it isn't that good really and a hike for your supplies. The supermarket on site is a bit pricey but caters for most of your needs, is super friendly if you smile first and what the h**l you're on holiday anyway, chill out and live a little.
Happy travels and I look forward to your review when you get back.
REMEMBER TELL IT STRAIGHT!
