Green golf fab complex

have been going to the GREEN GOLF (14 times) over the last 8 years and have always had the most enjoyable times there. maid service is good 6 days a week and bed linen changed once a week, bunglows are good with bedroom and bathroom upstairs, small terrace and garden to the front of the bunglaow with table and chairs ad sunbeds. There is a kettle toaster and coffee machine . Bar area is good with the bar staff friendly and polite. Have never experienced anything bad about the bunglows or the COMPLEX itself. Two fab pools with plenty of sunbeds and NO TOWELS hogging them. Last time there was march 06, and their sister complex SANDY GOLF Sept 06.
Will definatelyn be going back.

Me, my partner and our 7 year old daughter stayed at the Green Golf bungalows the last week in september the first in october and had a fantastic time, the rooms are cleaned everyday with fresh towels given, the staff where helpful. They are great great with the kids, and friendly. The weather has been fantastic, and we enjoyed the pools which are cleaned every morning.
I can't praise this place enough, it's a great place in the quieter side of town with a taxi (of which there are plenty) costing 3 euros including a tip into playa de ingles (about 2 pounds). Its a secure place to stay I felt safe as there are gates and you have a card to enter into the grounds.
I would really recommend this place and I will be looking forward to my return trip one day in the future.

Just visited the green golf apartments for christmas and what a fab time we had. The apartments and site were lovely and very clean. Had maid service everyday. Staff very friendly. Only seen 1 cockroach on the site and that as dead. The apartments were disinfected everyday. The pool was very nice and well maintained, with pleny of flowers and plants around. Restaurant was nice, pool bar was good, food was very cheap. Overall we had a great holiday and are booking to go back again for the new year.

I have just returned from the Green Golf Bungalows which is a mystery as they have stairs! Quite dangerous ones too so if you have kids or elderly people I wouldn't recommend these apartments.
The property is old and definately in need of an upgrade (which it is getting i believe) as the implements etc in the kitchen were arcaic!
Walls needed painting etc too. However, they were very clean and the maid service was excellent (every day) only saw one cockroach on our last morning which I was relieved about.
The pools were lovely except we were told one was heated until 31st March, and it wasn't! very clean as well though.
The restuarant and bar was ok and entertainment was good (except drag show - not my scene!)
It was a quite place and I was very glad I stayed in Maspalomas - sand dunes are amazing.
If the place gets a good upgrade i may go back to the Green Golf.
Let this be a warning to you

We have just returned from a week in the Green Golf apartments with our 3 year old son. We were burgled on our first night,whilst in our apartment! This has happended there a few times before and we were told by reception that we should have used the safe, which was hidden in a wardrobe in the bedroom.
The place is full of cockroaches and the staff non commital. The turn over is so high there they just don't seem to care for you.
The apartments are very basic, shabby and worn. The beds are very uncomfortable and the bathroom so small you can hardly turn around in it.
This is not the place to go for a relaxing holiday and we will never go back there or use the same travel company.
Dont waste you rmoney!!!

We have just returned from a two week stay. The weather was great but the Green Golf complex is now very shabby. We were allocated a "bungalow", bedroom upstairs, which faced the road. The traffic noise was a nuisance at night. We also fell foul of neighbours who snored loudly and so we asked to be relocated. The second bungalow was slightly better but they are poorly equipped. You have to pay for the TV (only 2 news stations in English) and there is a charge if you require a microwave and an electric kettle.
This is one star accommodation. The setting is quite attractive and the gardens are well tended. The pool is fine. Limited sunbeds (free of charge)! A long walk into Maspalomas and so dependence upon the courtesy bus should be borne in mind. The reception staff needed to show more interest in the customer! Special requests are likely to be rejected

we stayed there in july and loved it staff very friendly the first night there was a cockroach in our appartment. but reception soon cleaned it up and did not see another tell the last night rooms very clean .pool excellent bar staff could not be more helpful excellent friendly family atmospher exsept the germans they had towels on most of the sun loungers ? the beach was a little far but well worth going. great place for peace and quiet at night no noise after 11.30 especally when you have children. we went to near by pla dela ingales at the umbo centre every night £2.50 in a taxi and had a great time we will be going back as soon as possible recomend for couples and familys excellent felt safe people very friendly .does any one no if the green golf sleeps 4 people as we went as a couple we want to take our 2 children this year if anyone knows could you let us no thanks

We went as a family of 4 with a 4 year old and an 8 month old. We arrived on 27th December and departed 10th January 2006. Before we booked we checked the reviews on this very useful website and found them to be quite mixed so we took a chance as accomodation can be scarce in Gran Canaria around Christmas time. The best reviews seem to be submitted by people who visted Green Golf in summer and this is worth noting but our experience was as follows.
Staff attitude varied from indifference to downright rudeness especially in the restaraunt and bar but also in the reception. The accomodation is described as "bungalows" but in fact they are just poorly designed apartments split over 2 levels with a livingroom / kitchen downstairs and a bedroom with ensuite bathroom upstairs. The upper level is accessed by an open staircase (no doors) that could be quite hazardous for young children. There are some bungalows (apartments) that face the road outside and not the pools. This is where we were accomodated. The bungalow numbers in this row range from around 150 to 190. They get absolutely NO sunshine at all and are in the shade all day. This might be OK in summer heat but in winter they are miserable and we had to hire a heater from reception at an additional cost of €27 for the 2 weeks.
Some friends were placed in a bungalow on the same row, complained about the shaded accomodation and asked to be moved. They were moved to an bungalow that was infested with cockroaches i.e. not just 1 or 2 but many.
The bungalows are mostly all single bedroom and very cramped for a family of 4. There is a heated pool mentioned in the publicity material for the Green Golf but we couldn't find it and in winter outdoor pools can be icy cold even on sunny days. Our daughter usually loves the pool but only went in once or twice during our 2 week stay because the water was too cold.
The entertainment during the day was very inadequate and the same tired woman also had to do the night time disco for kids. She couldn't kick it off until 830PM each evening due to her personal family circumastances and this was too late for many young children who would normally be in bed by that time.
During the time we stayed the cleaners went on strike and the bungalows went uncleaned, bins unemptied (think of the nappies!), beds unchanged for days. There was no apparent effort at alternative arrangements by management. Newly arriving visitors were placed in uncleaned bungalows that had just been vacated by departing visitors and there was a lot of upset complainants in the reception area every day who received shrugged shoulders indifference from the management / staff.
Green Golf is a good 20 min walk from the beach although a free bus is provided. There is a golf course adjacent (hence the name) and I would say that the original target market for this development was singles / couples who like to play golf. And in fairness this is probably the market they would best serve. I don't think it was built with families in mind and that is reflected in the overall experience we had.
3 redeeming qualities worth a mention.
The New Years event in the restaurant was very well organised with good food, wine and entertainment. I think an outside catering company were brought in to do this though.
The maintenance man was very helpful, attentive and prompt at changing lightbulbs etc.
There is a reasonably well stocked supermarket within the complex that sells English newspapers.
Also worth a mention but not connected to Green Golf itself, there is an EXCELLENT 24 hour medical centre within 5 minutes walk where our baby son received the very best medical attention from a female spanish doctor late at night for a very reasonable fee of €40.
Lastly a word of caution - the bungalows are not very secure. The windows can easily be opened from the outside and use of the safe is strongly recommended.
The locked & access controlled gate to the complex only worked some of the time we were there.
Hope this helps - Maspalomas istelf is lovely but nearby Puerto Rico is more family oriented, commercial and better equipped for entertaining small children and has much better beaches.

We did'nt stay here one night because of the following:
1) "Bungalow" smelled musty and was freezing.
2) Dust all over the surfaces/fittings etc....
3) Bathroom not worthy of it's 3 *'s. Hand held shower and pool of brown water on floor.
Smelled of drains.
4) Beds rickety and linen did not smell clean.
5) Had a sandwich in the restaurant and the bread was stale.
Got in a taxi and left as quickly as possible.
Since found out this place has been dumped by Thomson and taken on by First Choice, who, in my experience, take on all the rubbish the other tour operators don't want.
Take my advice and spend your well-earned cash ELSEWHERE.
