More about Club Green Oasis Maspalomas
Overall not too bad
Just got back from the green oasis bungalows in Maspalomas (november 15th-22nd). Weather was beautiful, around 31 degrees everyday however it got a bit chilly in the evenings.
The complex is extremely clean, has 3 adult pools and 3 kids pools, all outdoor. Plenty of activities for children, teens and adults. The entertainment team are extremely energetic and done a good job of keeping everyone happy. Evenings always started with a mini disco for kids ( i swear you'll be fed up of the songs by the ends of your holiday). Evening entertainment included, quizes, karaoke, bingo, singers and dancing shows. Daytimes included football, archery and riffle shooting.
Rooms were basic, downstairs has a coin operated tv, bed/sofa, small kitchenette, toilet, table and chairs plus outdoor terrace with table and chairs. Upstairs had bathroom, bedroom with wardrobe and balcony.
Food within the hotel was basic, not alot of choice at meal times but overall a good quality, Snacks were availble inbetween meal times, these included pizza, chips, burgers, salads, sandwiches and sausages. You must try the green oasis cocktail.
When in Maspalomas you must go and take in the sights of the sand dunes, it's an experience you'll never forget, a good laugh too, just don't take children as the scenery is not suitable for them. Faro 2 has plenty of shops and bars, as does maspalomas beach. Playa del ingles takes 1.5 hours to walk to, but taxi's are so cheap no journey cost us more than 3 euros. The local market on wednsdays and saturdays is just past holiday world (fair ground/bars/shops etc here), you'll find all your normal market bargins such as towels, bags, watches etc.
This hotel consisted of 40% germans, 40% gay men and 20% famalies, so dont go here is you're offended by any of the above, however everyone we met were extremely freindly!
first class. will be back again.
Lets see were we can start. My wife and I and our six year old daughter are just back from the Green oasis.
Appartment was basic. Located by the pool and spotless.
Meals were plentiful and quite varried. Although mornings can be busy if you tend to leave it late.( no more than 5 min wait for a table ).
Lunch and Dinner well presented and fresh food brought out every few minutes.
Snack bar basic chips, burgers, sandwiches, pizas, salad, etc.(All day) And of course Drinks and Ice cream.
Entertainment for Adults was well orgainised especially when the entertainers had 6 or 7 different nationalities to cope with.
My daughter LOVED the Kids club. A very big thankyou to Jerry and Katia from Billie, you both made her feel very special.
Entertainment at night was fantastic. Every night a different theme and the gang really worked their socks off.
Stay away from the 3 well maintained pools the water was freezing. Altough the children didn't seem to mind.
My only gripe to the whole holiday, was the lack of understanding from the reception staff when my wife had her mobile phone and purse stolen from are appartment, two days before we were to come home.
Thanks to one of the other guests for being so vigilant we retreived the purse.
Everyone we meet during our two weeks had a really great time.
I have been to other All Inclusive Hotels and Green Oasis is all round good value for money.
All round good fun and value for money
We stayed at the Green Oasis resort in summer 2003. We had a great time there, the apartments were nice as they were all individual 'little houses', there was only the two of us so it was a fine size, however if you had a large family they might be a bit tight for space.
The three pools were really nice and were kept well clean. There were activities on all day both for adults and children as well as snacks and drinks being served all day so you could have something to eat while lazing around the pools.
There was a large choice of food at breakfast, lunch and dinner although could have been a slightly better variety.
The place was very german orientated but the entertainers spoke many languages, the entertainment at night for kids was pretty good but the adult entertainment could have been better.
Overall we really liked the place and would go back there again.
I have just come back from the Green Oasis my opinion wouldn't go back, Food was disgusting same food every other night which was poor if you like salad you'll be fine the only meat i ever had there was chicken once a week or you could have veil every other night. The snack bar outside wold of been fine if the food was changed a few times you had the same there every day. (Hot dogs, Burgers chips, pizza and salad). The entertainment of the night was fine not a problem with that, they had Mini Disco every night for the children and they loved it even though i didn't have any children but was good to watch them enjoy themselves, and then we had shows on after that which was good. Another problem was the free drinks you were only allowed there local beer, spirits and stuff which i thought was wrong for the price we paid you had to pay for the brand named drinks. Around the pool in the day was fine lots of activities to do. Christmas Dinner was poor so we didn't stay there for New Years Eve meal we ate out. We ate out quite often anyway because of the poorness of the food in the restaurant i would advise you to go down to the Irish Centre in Playa Del Ingles it is great food and atmosphere down there you'll love it but to be honest i would never go back there i'd rather go back to Puerto Rico believe me its much better.
Could be a great place
My family and I have just returned from our 2 week stay at the Green Oasis (31 Jan - 14 Feb) The accomodation was quite good and was very clean. In fact we were impressed with the pools and general layout. Then we went for dinner..........unfortunately, the hotel tends to cater for germans rather than the british which considering 80% of the holidaymakers were german, its understandable !!!!! But obviously not great for us !!!! I have a five year old son and apart from chips there was nothing else for him. In the two weeks we spent there we had chicken nuggets twice. Veal and fish (with bones) appeared on the buffet menu almost every night. This is not great for the young ones !!!!
The evening entertainment was appalling. When we arrived the previous entertainers of 3 years, had apparently resigned and some locals were now running things. They had no clue whatsoever !!!! Several of us holidaymakers complained to them about their lack of entertaining skills and the response was "we are still finding our feet!!!"
If like me you love animals, there are plenty of cats around the complex. Feed them please, they certainly enjoyed the food more than we did !!!
In particular there is a siamese cat who we loved and didn't want to leave behind.
Hopefully, things may have improved by the time you go, good luck and don't forget to feed the cats !!!
just back and loved every minute
Just back and cant tell you just how great this place was. Arrived at 7pm on a sat, went to dinner and was amazed at range of food-plenty of everything and great range of free drinks-try the Rum Miele-like nothing you've tasted before. Only too easy to drink too much, nothing gets measured!!! Mainly Germans and Dutch, but did find quite a few Scots, welsh and English there as well. Staff spoke English and appreciate you trying to speak Spanish(even if it was only Gratsias and Hola). PIty they didnt do 10 day hols here-2 weeks too much and our 1 week not enough. Forget sunbeds-taken early, but we explored the Yumbo in Playa de Ingles-brill shops, bargains galore, but haggle-you can get deals at less than half they start at. Weather far too hot to sit around-never less than 26-28 degrees during day, hottest we had was 37! Beach fantastic, ignore nudists(loads) playing beach volleyball. Entertainment Staff worked their socks off-Thank Alex,Jerry and Girls for what was a magic week crammed pack of shows, quizzes,Archery, shuffleboard, darts, pistol shooting and so much more. Even came back with certificates to prove how well(or badly) we'd done. Very clean resort, cleaners daily and only 1 tiny cockroach who disappeared very quickly!! Cats are there trying to drink the beer but overall this was a fantastic break. Try the resort-brill for couples and families.
Food from Hell
Just got back on the 20th December and have to say that the place is not that good. The food for a all inclusive is very poor. The same nearly every day. Its a German breakfast and not English which is normally cold. The lunch and evening meals are of the same standard and the only saving grace is the snack bar. The entertainment for adults is rubbish but good for children who speak German!!!. The apartments are ok but a little small and the staff do a good job in the cleaning department. If you want to sit around a load of miserable Germans who scorned at us for laughing to much why they played card games then be my guest. The site its self is beautiful, very green and pleasant and is exactly how others describe it. There is no where to go at night with young children as the nearest place (Faro 2) complex is a 20 min walk and not really suitable for the young anyway. We went there to eat!!!.
In summer this place must be a nightmare as the only room to eat in is way to small for the site and you would be waiting for a table. I felt compeled to write this report and is my first time in doing so i hope i do not need to be so negative next time.
Merry xmas one and all....
We booked the accomodation in June of this year, and then, we learnt about this website. So, we read the reviews and at first they were all terrible reviews and we wondered what the hell we were going to be faced with once there! However, the reviews started to get better and better and we then thought - come on - lets give it a chance and make the most of it. So, we got there on the 20/12/04 - ready for 14 days of sunshine and all inclusive indulgence. What a dissapointment. We were met with a substandard apartment that had a) a toilet near enough in the living area b) Walls that were so paper thin you could hear the neighbours neighbours activities c) Food that was catering for the Germans and cold if you waited for more than 15 minutes after the canteen opened d) A restaurant where everything was self service e) The kids activities had age limits - which My Travel did NOT put in their brochure, so our 7 year old was very dissapointed f) A grotty apartment that was smelly and dirty and we stayed ONE NIGHT, before asking to move to another accomodation. This was the worst accomodation that we have ever stayed in and my advice to anyone who hasn't booked is DON'T GO!
Needs a little help
10th Jan - 24th Jan 2005.
To say the least, although equilivant to 3stars, did not expect wonderful things, but the food was always dried out, eggs at breakfast - plastic,
would suggest that if you speak German then you win hands down, Management put up notices that the sun beds were not to be reserved, 8pm towels were already down for the following day. All sun beds locked by chains not allowing freedom of movement, therefore no privacy around any of the pools. If you like sitting with eveyone else, then go ahead,
No phone for emergency in any apartment/bungalows directly to Reception, therefore by the time you had got help the person could have died. Stairs in the bunglaows very dark wood, although light on them, therefore if sight poor you could fall quite easily as narrow on bend.
Bus to the beach good and nearly always on time.
A really enjoyable holiday
Our first impression was very impressive, the reception area was very clean and the staff were very friendly. We were immediately given our all inclusive bands and our room keys and a map of the complex with concise instructions as to opening hours of restaurant bars & facilities available. We had quite a walk to our apartments but it was a lovely walk past three pools which were very well kept and clean.
On entering our apartment it did strike us that it was a little on the small side as we had two children with us a girl of sixteen and a boy of eleven, there was a bedroom with twin beds and a bathroom upstairs but downstairs a couch with a pull out single bed underneath in a very small room which also included a small kitchen area a kitchen table with three chairs and another toilet so not a lot of room for manouvre and not much privacy, the room could also have done with a new coat of paint, however we made the most of it as the weather was reasonable so didn't need to spend a lot of time in the room.
The all inclusive was however excellent and the food was quite good although the same dishes were served quite a lot.
The entertainment however did leave a lot to be desired for the adults but the childrens entertainment was good but was the same every evening, could have done with a little more variety.
On the whole we had an excellent holiday and even though I have said a few negative things I would go back again.
Restaurants and shops by the beach.
