More about Aparthotel Terrazamar Sunsuite
Stayed at the Terrazamar Sun Suites (Sunsuite) aparthotel and the accomodation was fantastic. verry clean, well maintained, and freindly staff. the location is the best you could ask for, literally 5 minutes from the spar and netto supermarkets.( spar is by far cheaper)
room was excellent, massive balcony. **please note however that not all the balconies are not the same size. if you stay on floors 1 or 6 you get one of the really huge ones. This was the one i got and it was fantastic- big enough to park 6 cars comfortably.
Puerto Rico is nice, if a little tacky. All the restaurant owners agressivly try to get you in which can be a hassel. By far the best restaurante is san miguels, good food, freindly people and a free shot arter dinner. chicken, chips, vegetables was only 6 euroes!
Take the trip to puerto mogan by boat, well worth it.verry pretty and a bit more upper class.
Also amadores beach is verry nice(40 minute walk from terrezamar)
Overall only paying £300 for two weeks including direct flights and transfers its was exceptional value!
Terrazamar, "Good value"!!
Have just returned from a one week stay at the Terrezamar, nice clean apartments, living area with bed setee was a bit dodgey, one of the slats been repaired with sticky tape!!
Good modern kitchen with appliances.
No bath just a shower, nice and big tho, plenty of room for 2!
Balconies were great, except if you get room 1109, not in a good position, over looking the road and a skip parked up, we did get a move to the 9th floor the next day where you could see the sea view as stated in the brochure.
Swimming pool was clean and plenty of sunbeds and parasols, good bar and snacks, "Happy hour" between 4pm - 5pm, buy-one-get-one-free!
Day time entertainment could of been a bit better, water polo and killer poole, good laugh all the same. Evening entertainment was ok, recommend you see Adrianna or better known as the Lollipop lady, say no more!!!!
A small walk into the main centre, plenty of places to eat, although they all try their best to get you in their restaurants.
Plenty of shops, some selling the normal tacky stuff, others selling leather goods and perfumes!
The water park in Maspalomas well worth a visit, dont go to the one opposite the apartments, never looked busy and not as many rides.
Overall, not a bad place to stay, not very eye catching views or not too much going on for kids ( 14, 11),but for what it cost, it was value for money.
Best Hotel in PR
The best SC hotel ive stayed at. Facilities at the hotel and in the apartment were second to none. We have gone all-inclusive for the last few holidays and been disappointed. Decided on a top end SC and were really pleased. Eating out and drinking in PR is really Cheap. Try Ma Durkins at the Beach front. Dicey Orellys has good entertainment on every night. Terrazamar entertainment was a bit poor, go to sullivans bar if you are staying at the complex. Pools were excellent, go to the one at the Royal Sun Suite on the top, terrific. Entertainers at the Terrazamar SS were a bit wet, turned into a "im the only gay in the village competition". Highly recommended!!!
Have no complaints
We stayed at the Terrazamar Sun Suites Royal from 26th of May until 3rd of June. We got a special offer for only 250 euro each and so did not expect much from the apartments the travel agency put us in, but must to our amazement this complex was simply perfect for a sun getaway.
The balcony's are huge, and supply 2 sunbeds, a table with 4 chairs and a close horse to dry your wet towels etc... No need to leave the apartment really during the day if sunbathing is your thing. The bathrooms were also huge with his and hers sinks... and the sofa's in the living room were very comfy. Kitchen had everything you needed and plenty of storage there and in the bedroom.
There was a kids-club, not that we needed that as we were a couple, night-time entertainment that we didnt samply either as the commercial centre was just down a few steps outside and only 2 euro in a taxi back [didnt want to climb up stairs on holiday!!!]... Recommend 'Murphy's Kitchen' as being the best food in Puerto rico - loads to choose from, lovely breakfasts, snacks and dinner... tried most stuff on the menu and all were excellant and reasonably priced.
Will definately go to puerto rico again and definately stay at the Terrazamar.
Definately returning next year!!
Just returned fron the Terrazamar. We were put up in the Sunsuites section. Apartments were spacious and clean and the balcony, well..................... this was just ideal for us as when we go on holiday we love to relax and take life easy. The balcony massive with table and chairs as well as 2 sunloungers provided. Great placement for the sun from first thing in the morning to last thing.
The main centre for shops, restaurants and bars are really only a 5 minute walk.
Yes, there are lots of people trying to get you into their restaurant/bar but all you need to say is that you are just looking and may be back and you get no more hassle.
Altogether - fabulous holiday!
My husband and I have just returned from a one-week holiday in the Terrazamar.
They are the best apartments we have stayed in - wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone.
The best bits - HUGE balcony, table and chairs, parasol , clothes horse and two sunloungers. A lovely private space for sunbathing, no need to go to the beach! As the apartments are built into the hillside overlooking the resort, the apartments have a lovely view.
Very clean and tidy, well equipped kitchen with everything you need and more. The maids came several times. The whole complex is spotless and everything's well maintained.
The brochures do not advertise air conditioning, when in fact it IS available - we paid 36Euro for the week - well worth it.
The staff were excellent - reception staff speak excellent english, were always very helpful with requests.
The reception area has a bar, small shop, bakery which is really useful, and internet access.
Lovely pool, with plenty of sunloungers, and a bar. Kiddies pool separated from main pool, looked good from a safety point of view as it's enclosed, probably good for keeping a close eye on your children.
Location - short walk to the main commercial area, via steps. Not close enough to be disturbed by noise at night. A 15/20 min walk to the beach and marina. Plenty of taxis available if you don't fancy the walk!
The resort itself is lovely, a nice relaxing place with plenty of friendly people.
Loads of good restaurants, and plenty of shops. Would recommend a boat trip to Mogan - it's a beautiful place, and the ferry trip is excellent value (£10 return from Puerto Rico) and a really good opportunity to see the lovely coastline. Try the submarine trip in Mogan - a bit pricey but fun.
Overall a fantastic holiday, would definately visit the Terrazamar again.
Fantastic - will definitely return
Just returned from 2 weeks in Puerto Rico, Gran Canaria (20-05-07) 3 couples aged 20-30. We had been booked into the Terrazamar Suites (with flyglobespan) but these were being renovated so we were put into the Terrazamar “Sun Suites”. There are three different sets of apartments built into the hillside – Terrazamar Suites at the bottom, Sun Suites in the middle and Sun Suites Royal at the top.
The apartments in the Sun Suites are fantastic. We stayed on the 2nd floor. Nearly all of the balconies in the apartments are absolutely huge (we guessed the balconies were approx 18ft x 27ft!). Each balcony had a table, 3 chairs, parasol and 2 sunbeds! [Word of warning - try and avoid room 1109 (one couple in our party (there were 6 of us in 3 rooms) were put into this room but they requested to move the next day, as this balcony was very small and the apartment was right next to the road and a very noisy gate that swung open and shut all night). They were moved to the 5th floor with no problems whatsoever.]
With the way the hotel is built (into the rock face), we noticed that the balconies on the 6th floor looked even bigger (maybe even twice the size of ours!). Maids were in every day (except Thursdays and Sundays) changing towels etc. There were always maids about cleaning even the bannisters, lift shafts and light fittings!
The apartments were very well equipped for self-catering. There is a tv and fan in the living room and air conditioning in the bedroom which can be hired from reception (I think it was 36 Euros a week). In the kitchen, you get microwave, 2 cooking rings, fridge (with a bottle of water for when we arrived!), kettle, toaster, and all cutlery you should need (including a bottle opener, cheese grater etc). Basically everything you will need.
There were 3 lifts to the 6th floor then 3 separate lifts to the 10th floor (where the lovely pool/pool bar is situated) and 11th floor (restaurant). We usually had breakfast at the pool bar but never got round to eating at the restaurant. The bakery beside reception does very good fresh croissants and takeaway pizza’s. There is also a small shop but we found their prices a little bit more expensive than the supermarkets in the commercial centre. The pool was freezing for the first couple of days but got warmer as the holiday went on. The pool is cleaned every morning and the sunbeds/surrounding area is absolutely spotless every day. The Airtour reps organised family volleyball/polo, pool/darts competitions etc nearly every day. A couple of days we were also offered free scuba diving lessons in the pool! There is always entertainment in the evenings too on the 11th floor, with kids disco’s, bingo, live music etc.
Fortunately, none of us had any mobility problems as there are quite a few steps to tackle between the apartments and the main centre! But that has not put us off going back.
Hope this review helps.
What a fab hotel
We went to Gran Canaria not expecting a lot, just a cheap holiday in the sun, but it was one of the best holidays that we have had.
The flight on the way out there was half empty so that started it off great and we arrived early with bags first off the plan!!
Transfer to the hotel was a bit late but still really good, I would recommend Resorthopper fo this. They collected us from the hotel as well and at £60 return we thought it was well worth it.
When we arrived at the hotel we were told that the room was not ready (only down bit of the holiday was the female reception staff, so moody) so we would have to wait in the bar (no problem!!).
It was two lifts to our floor as we were on 10 and they were all working and really easy to get. We did travel off peak season and I have seen in some other reviews that these get very busy in peak times. The pool and the restaurant were on floor 11 so I would recommend asking for a floor higher up.
The room has everything you would need. Separate bedroom and kitchen with a huge balcony. We stay there a lot of the day time just chilling it was sooo big. Bathroom was well equipt and very clean and the maids did try to come everyday, we just weren't up in time!! Fantastic staff and the grounds were very clean. Pool area was big but there was a problem with people saving sunbeds which was quite annoying.
The hotel is only a short walk to the commerecial center but far enough away as well! I have to recommend "The Best Steak House" on the first floor toward the back of the Commercial Centre. Service was fantastic and the food was unbelievable. We thought we would be eating survival food all week, but this restaurant is something else. The best bar we went to was called Bora Bora with its €3 cocktails. We don't really remember the first night but we soon learnt to pace ourselves.
All in all it was one of the best hotels and locations I have stayed in for the price. I will definitely be going back.
Royal Sunsuites - Excellent Apartments
My wife and I stayed at the Terazza Mar Royal Sunsuites from Sat 19th to Sat 26 May and loved these apartments, we have previously holiday'd in 5* hotels in Cuba and Mexico so was a little cautious at first but but as this was just a quick break away we opted for GC - we were NOT dissapointed in any way.
They are situated about 5 mins or so up the hill from the Puerto Rico Commercial Centre - we found this close enough to the shops, bars etc but far enough away that you couldn't hear all the music etc on a night when sat on the "hugh" balconies (there are very few apartments where the balconies are more than big wnough for 3 sunbeds and a table\chairs etc !!)
Our room and the rest of the aparthotel was immaculate and had air con in the bedroom, however that was chargeable. We found that if we left bedroom window open with the curtains closed that the bedroom stayed cool even though it was 32 degrees outside. In fact because the apartment and balcony was so nice, we ate breatfast and lunch there and barely left the apartment until about 7pm each evening most days other than a walk to the supermarket for bread, drinks, water etc. The pool area was amazing although the pool was COLD, this was however nice after a few mins with the sun being so hot.
There are loads of perfume shops but barter on the price, we bought about 5 bottles and saved about £80 on the UK prices, the people in the shops offer discount but you can always get a bit cheaper by pushing for a bit more.
I would definitely recommend El Toro Steak restaurant restaurant in the Commercial Centre, the steak\chops etc were amazing in terms of quality, service and price ! We went there twice and couldn't recommend it highley enough. We visited the Europa Centre a couple of times but it now looking a bit tired and the two meals we had (an Italian and Flicks) were really that nice to be honest.
There are loads of bars depending what you want, the "party" bars like Donalds, Harley Davidson, Bora Bora, Linekers etc had loads of 2 for 1's on but the individual drink prices were more so you don't really save anything. However this is where the lively bars are so for loud music this is the place to be. At the back top floor of the centres you will find quieter (but not quiet) bars which are less rowdy. Prices vary from 80 cents to about 4 euro's for a beer and 1-5 euro's for spirits, wine and cocktails - it really depends on the type of bar you are looking for.
Mogan Market is on Fridays and boats leave the harbour from 10 but get there early - it gets very busy !! The boat trip was 10 euro pp return and the trip is work it, nice boat trip and an interesting market, barter hard if you want anything and remember that the african men there are harmless and see bartering as a bit of a game with big smiles and lots of jokes. My wife bought a wooden ornament and barter the price from 30 euro to 8 euro.
Overall we could not fault the apartments in anyway at all. We would definitely visit there again.
Good clean accomodation .. Rooms cleaned daily, spacious balcony & fairly spacious apartment .. Big enough for 3 of us.
Sun loungers were abit of a nightmare first few days & we couldn't get any. My hubby even woke at 8am one morn to try & reserve some like everyone else was doing but they were all gone.. No one there.. just their towels!!!
However after first few days management put up a notice & would then remove towels from "reserved" beds.
2 min walk to the supermarket and close to bars/restaurants etc.
