Brilliant views

We spent a week at Marina Suites. We had a standard room and it was spacious. All the rooms have great views. The kitchenette is brilliant. There is a cooker, microwave, fridge, coffee maker and a kettle. The room was cleaned daily and there were clean towels every day. The pool is fantastic. It has lovely views over the marina entrance and towels are provided.

All round good holiday

by TripAdvisor Member whitetop

Just returned from a wonderful relaxing week at the Marina suites. We have to admit we were a bit dubious after reading some of the reviews on the hotel, but went with an open mind. We cannot find anything negative to say about our holiday, the staff were lovely especially Aurora and Sabrina in the restaurant and Eddie by the pool. We arrived at 2.30 am to be greeted at reception by happy friendly staff who continued this way for the rest of our stay. The rooms were spotless and the food was outstanding there was always a good selection which was continually topped up. We had no problem getting sunbeds or parasols even though there were six in our party. We were not overly keen on the singer on Tuesday night but he was definitely entertaining!!!!!. All round an excellent holiday and we will definitely be back.

fantastic holiday

marina suites is a fantastic hotel the suites are very spacious with marble floors i can see why its 4 star, views to die for over a marina or sea in all rooms. It is very clean and tidy the maids were even cleaning the outside banisters every day.
we have stayed there 3 times now and will definately go back,we stayed half board and the food was fantastic well above average
and all the staff were extremely friendly apart from reception who
really dont want to give in if you have a problem and this was the deputy manager for reception, which is a shame
because its as though they take it personally.
if you are at the front of the hotel overlooking the marina it can be

noisy during the night with coach drop offs and lorrys delivering at all hours,so we had asked for a pool view at the back of the complex
but unfortunatley didnt get, so we did ask reception to be moved but met with a complete blank.
however we were determined to enjoy ourselves and did the weather was mid eighties, what more can you ask for!

lovely hotel, slightly *** attitude

by TripAdvisor Member littlebeanTeeside

we have just had a great week at marina suites, on a half board basis. Hotel rooms, public areas, pool area, food - all excellent. We were out of season so there was no problem getting sunbeds, and the location/views of the pool is terriffic.

We did sometimes get the impression that the hotel management would prefer not to have guests around to mess up the perfection, but this usually presented as careful attention to detail and tidiness. We did ask for a third balcony chair, and were told we couldnt have one, as only two chairs allowed for aesthetic reasons (four person apartment!). We met some people who were refused an interim room for late departure after having been promised one all week, and we found that our room keys were deactivated at 11am, although checkout was midday.

Would definitely return, as the good far outweighs the bad.

Superb

Returned on Monday 19th March 2007 after a week of sunshine and luxury at the Marina Suites. Stayed in a select room which was large and over looked the harbour on the 8th floor.
We have been to Gran Canaria 10 times and this beats all of the other places we have stayed.
Superb location overlooking the sea, rooms nicely furnished and spacious.
Had breakfast at the Rovers Return most mornings - all english products. The Red Rose is very nice for the evening meal and Flanagans Apple is nice for the evening entertainment, although we saw the same chap singing on our stroll back from the commercial centre.

We are now bored with the tired looking commercial centre and spent much more time at the harbour end, so as not to be bothered by timeshare touts and pr's trying to get you to have a drink or a meal - they did my head in! But then again we are nearly in our 50's so not up for too much excitement!!!

Las Vegas Steak Bar is still excellent value for money in the centre though - we still haven't managed to clear our plates but the champagne sangria is always a winner.
All in all, the weather was great, the place is superb and what more do you want for some r&r?
Booked for Christmas already!

Can't Wait to Return!

It is difficult to find different words of praise for these apartments as it has all been said by other reviewers. In a nutshell- BRILLIANT- the best apartments that we have ever stayed in !

The view from the rooms is stunning especially from the Marina side from where you see over the whole resort and watch the comings and goings of the boats and yachts and the sun "disappearing" into the sea each evening.

The rooms and balconies are very large and are kept spotlessly clean by the friendly room staff who, as others have noted, even clear away cups and plates. Unheard of !

As for food we only had one meal there and found it to be OK but the complex is still in its early days.

A major attraction is the exceptionally well designed( and thankfully heated!) infinity pool and yes you do get the illusion of swimming in the Atlantic especially as you swim towards the deck area.

The location is also perfect. There are no hills and there are enough shops, restaurants and bars in the locality.Highly recommend Red Rose, Rhodos Palace, Clam and Oscars - last one pricey but worth it.

Flanagans Apple Irish bar is well worth a visit for music (and Guinness!) and the music is not confined to "diddly dee "stuff - the singer while we were there was top notch and covered a wide range.

The Commercial Centre is a 15 -20 minute pleasant (good shade!) stroll away and caters for all.Won't enter into the debate about whether this Centre is "tacky" or not but we didn't spend a lot of time there. Didn't really need to.

On a closing note I can't understand some of the negativity in recent posts. I suppose I also could have written about the sunbed search, that they are too close together, that you might fall and hurt yourself ,that you get noise from the boatyard, that the TV didn't work sometimes ( Why would you need it!) that some staff are unhelpful etc but NONE OF THIS MATTERS! Everything else outweighs such minor irritatiions.

I suppose though that some people go out of their way to be offended!

We will most definitely be back.

Nice Hotel, but not Fantastic

by TripAdvisor Member zggb0b

This hotel is better than most in Puerto Rico, and we enjoyed our stay here. The rooms are really nice and spacious with good facilities. We didn't make use of the pool area because it was always very crowded and cramped, and access to the pool was not straightforward (had to navigate through a hotel room to get to it- the normal route was closed for some reason). we preferred the beach at Amadores which has some great facilities.
We encountered a few minor problems:- On arrival at our room on the 2nd floor, we found the bed light missing with wires hanging loose..informed reception and was fixed when we returned later....no sink plugs in any of the sinks..told reception..never got replaced..it wasn't a big deal..just annoying.....Cost for hire of safe was extortionate. Maid tried to get in to clean room quite early..when I told her we would be about an hour, it was quite obvious that she wasn't happy to have to wait. All these things were fairly trivial, but it just takes the edge off your overall enjoyment of your stay.
We did not eat at the hotel as we were SC. The choice of eating places nearby was very good and we were never disappointed by any thing we had..we used the Red Rose, El Gaitero (superb!) and Bistro Frere + Flicks (Europa Centre). On Amadores beach we had good meals at The London Pride, and Belice..we didn't rate the Titanic. The Netto supermarket under the tunnel was not very clean..we used the "Supermercado Portonovo" near the Red Rose. Best shopping we found was at Yumbo CC in Playa Del Ingles.

gorgeous

my family and i stayed here for christmas 2006. it was truely a loverly hotel the food was exellent and the servise was great. the rooms were out of this world with a kitchonete including microwave, coffee maker, toaster, kettle, we had tv which comes in handy when you have kids. the maid came every day and the whole of the hotel was very clean and modern. the pool was great but have to say a little cold for me due to the sea breeze, but also put that down to the time of year. overall we had a wonderful christmas and would definatly go again.

Amazing

Returned from the Marnia Suites early yesterday morning and went straight to the travel agents to book again for next year. Can't praise the apartments or staff enough. In our party was myself, husband and two children, 10 and 2 and there was something for everyone to do. We were all really sad to leave but are now looking forward to returning. We definately wouldn't stay any where else, just wish more apartments abroad were to this standard.
