More about Suite Princess
Excellent value

Stayed at Suite Princess in Playa Taurito, Gran Canaria for one week from 26th February. Loved the location, right on the beach and every room had a sea view. Hotel layout very good so that rooms did not overlook the main entrance where coaches pick up/drop off. Very good choice of food and plenty of it. Staff were very friendly and helpful and hotel was kept extremely clean. Not much in the resort itself so the free daily bus to Puerto Mogan was a bonus although would not recommend using the free bus to Puerto Rico - it was very tacky and downmarket. Some large development going on in Taurito but not much happening whilst we were there and wouldn't think there would be much noise disturbance at the Suite Princess anyway. Would recommend it for a quiet holiday and will likely go there again next year at the same time as the weather was glorious!
Loved the Room

Stayed at the Suite Princess for 7 days. Hotel very nice, room really spacious with plenty of hanging and storage space, staff friendly, helpful and efficient. The drawback is the food, plentiful, varied but awful, awful. The Thomson Rep was useless, if you could find her. Stayed A La Carte and Platinum, reps all friendly, effcient and knowledgable but not this one. Taxi to Porto Mogan, pretty with nice harbour about 5/6 euros. Hotel has free bus to Porto Mogan and Peurto Rico, plenty of sun beds any time.
Loved the views

We have just returned from a two week stay in the Suite Princess Hotel. We feel that the time has come for this hotel to be removed from the Thomson Platinum brochure. Having stayed in Platinum hotels many times in the past, we have always been very satisfied with everything, but this hotel lacks the WOW factor. The restaurant seemed very basic, no champagne breakfast, only sliced bread for the toaster. The evening meal was ok, but nothing to write home about. We noticed several people wearing shorts, although there was a dress code. But funnily enough they didn’t seem out of place. My first impression was, it looked more like a canteen, certainly no frills and fancies to give it that special touch. The rooms are very spacious, with large balcony and great views, but the whole feel of the hotel was that everything was looking tired, and is in need of a facelift, if it is to stay in the Platinum league. If this had been a 3 star hotel we would have said it was brilliant. But we paid for the extra and didn’t get it.
Location nice and quiet

My husband and I have just arrived back from the Suite Princess .
The hotel room was really big and we had lovely views. The reception staff were excellent as well as the girls that cleaned our suite. Most of the waiting staff in the restaurant were good. Although the last day we were there we waited ages to order wine, our wine was left on the table but was not opened. My husband had to find the waiter, and the service was dreadful that day. Be careful ordering drinks in the piano bar. One of the bar staff challenged us after dinner one evening, about not paying for our drinks in the late afternoon. He was extremely rude and on reflection we should have asked to speak to the manager. We paid for two drinks and he assured us the other two drinks we had he would put this on our bill and we did not need to sign. So sign everything.
I had uncooked chicken wings in the restaurant which I sent back and the rest of these were taken away. Starter courses are excellent and also puddings but the main courses are not very good. Apart from those issues we had a lovely holiday there.
Memorable and picturesque family vacation

Our family spent from Nov.18th to the 22th at the Suite Princess on Gran Canaria in Playa Taurito. On arrival we rented a car which was not reserved. It would be more cost effective and efficient to have reservations. Since the native language is Spanish, it is helpful to know some, but English is mostly understood. People drive on the right as Americans do, but be prepared to rent cars which have manual transmissions(stick shift) and take diesel fuel. My husband relearned quickly how to drive, but did stall once on the hilly terain around the mountains.
The drive from the airport is approximately 45 minutes to the resort. We arrived late in the evening so the hotel had cold plates waiting for us since we had half board accommodations. The choices at breakfast and dinner were plentiful and in a buffet style. The dining room was clean and spacious. All drinks were extra including water at dinner. Bottled water, coffee, tea and all juices were available free at breakfast. No food was allowed to leave the dining room.
Our rooms were suites, located on the 4th floor. We rented through Thompson travel. The beds were both singles placed together and very comfortable. Our daughters ages 22 and 18 stayed next door in reversed identical rooms. Both had balconies facing the ocean and pool area with gorgeous views. Air conditioning works only when the sliding door is shut.
The hotel had planned activities from 11AM until about midnight. The mix of water polo, aerobic exercises, pingpong. shuffleboard and beach volleyball enhanced the desire to sunbathe and take advantage of the happy hours. The activity staff (especially Caroline) took a personal interest to encourage individuals to participate. Some topless sunbathing was evident at the pool area and on the beach area accessed by guests using your key card. The evening acts consisted of dancing, singing and acrobatics and was included in the price of the hotel.
We would highly recommend this location and accommodation for the weather, beautiful views and surrounding beaches and towns. We had a wonderful holiday!

Hotel was 4* but only just - a bit tired.
Staff mostly friendly and all efficient.
The breakfast buffet was excellent and would recommend the fruit smoothies.
We only stayed half board so lunch was a glass of something by the pool with crisps, sandwiches were not good.
The evening buffet has a wide selection of food e.g. fish, pasta, meat, salads etc., all good and plentiful, but to be honest not our thing we prefer small quantities and better quality.
There are no other places to eat unless you go into Port Mogan which is lovely and only 6 euro taxi.
Walking is limited as there are no pathways out and roads are only designed for cars.
But all said we had a great and very relaxing.
Diappointing stay

We were quite disappointed in the hotel, having stayed in the maspalomas princess before, we wrongly assumed that this hotel would be as good. We were sadly wrong. The food was below average and the enterntainment, was mostly not entertaining. We had ants in our room which were so bad the hotel left us a can of ant killer in our room! We also had a couple of cockroaches in the dining room. The weather however was fabulous and it was a pleasant surprise to discover that the hotel was non-smoking. We felt that for the money we spent we deserved a more superior holiday. The staff however were very helpful and polite and couldn't do enough for us, but I'm afraid we won't be returning!
Hotel Good, Thomson appaling
by TripAdvisor Member Simon1967
Lovely spacious & clean rooms. 1st room was directly above entertainment which goes on to 1am. Following morning spoke to reception who were very helpful in finding us an alternative room (gave us keys to two - for us to pick). 2nd room was small walk from main hotel facilities but the Sea view and peace & quite more than made up for this.
Breakfast - Excellent for a buffet style - good times.
Dinner - Better than we anticpated after reading Thomson's rating of 75% and other comments on this site but in our opinion repetitive and themed evenings (one every night supposedly) could have varied food choice more.
Welcome meeting - Given wrong time by Thomson's so never made meeting.
Platinum Transfer - This is supposedly one of Thomson's platinum hotels which means a quick transfer. This worked on the outward bound transfer but on the inbound transfer made SIX pick ups all around Puerto Rico hillsides doubling the return transfer.
Staff in the hotel were all very friendly & helpful - not impressed by Thomson as the tour operator however.
Free bus into Puerto Mogan & Rico a good idea but local bus service into both also excellent and taxis at night not expensive.
great hotel

This Hotel is a very good hotel, but I will agree that there are some parts that are a little tired but it was clean and the staff were very attentive and anxious to please. As most of the others posts I found this hotel to have exceptional rooms, and all the facilities you would expect from a high quality hotel, although the singer in the piano bar could do with being shot!!!!
there has been a lot of critasism of the food on this site. I found it to be OK. I have stayed at several canary Island hotels and the food is not always suited to the Brit pallet, but the food was well cooked, well presented and hot. There were a lot of other nationalities at the hotel and the food was designed to suit all tastes, which means there are some days when it may not suit you. but this is the same in every hotel I have been to. one little gripe I did have was that the dirty plates are scraped into a bin in the dining room right next to some of the tables. not the most apitizing of views...
But my general impression is that it is a hotel I would go back to again. and that says everything.....
Exceeded Expectations

Having read the reviews on Tripadvisor I was reasonably sure this Hotel would meet our needs and I was not disappointed. The Rooms are very large and all have good sea / pool views with a large balcony. The Hotel layout is exceptionally spacious and airy with little need to use aircon in the bedroom.
We were half board and the food was buffet style with lots of cold and hot choice. All drinks were an extra and it would have been nice to have some local drinks and water included.
The pool area looked smallish in the photos but was fine , plenty of free sunbeds and had a great elevated view over the beach. Very orderly customers, no roudy groups or excesive noise in the evenings. The Poolside bar was handy, great views and seating area very pleasant change from the sunbeds. Being so close to the beach there was always a welcome cooling sea breeze over the pool area and balcony's. The pools were smallish but never over full. The adjacent spectacular lido no doubt takes some of the strain particulary ideal for families.
Only negatives are the location. Bit isolated with too few bars and shops to walk to although local buses and free Hotel coach helps. Puerto Mogan well worth a trip, forget grotty Pueto Rica.
