Winter "Sun"derland
"This is the Life"
Playa Blanca started its life as a fishing village, and has grown over the years into a pleasant tourist resort populated by both long and short term tourists.
As of January 2011 I have been to the island of Lanzarote about seven times, twice to Playa Blanca, and this is my favourite area so far. I love it because it's got everything you want in the perfect sun resort but without the rowdiness of the larger sunspots.
Since I was here the first time, they have built a gorgeous marina. It's not by any means huge and it doesn't attract the superyachts, but it's remarkably pleasant and peaceful.
There's a very picturesque walkway along the seafront for several miles, with uninterrupted sea views on one side and pretty whitewashed holiday homes on the other.
