Quiet, Pleasant Hotel with great views
Tejuma I believe is an old name of Guanche origin so, appropriately, Hotel Tejuma is furnished in dark wood, in a sort of old Tenerife style. The Hotel is very good value (22E for a single person), is in a quiet corner of the town but only 5 minutes walk from the bus station. Admittedly this walk is up (or down) a very steep hill. The hotel also has balconies at the front which do indeed give you a great view of Mount Teidi (clouds permitting)!
The reviews elsewhere were somewhat scathing of Tejuma but to the contrary I found the rooms very large, clean and airy. Because there were so few guests I was given the largest room in the hotel, which was a bonus! The proprietor was helpful, friendly and good humoured. Not only did he sometimes work long hours on reception, I also found him cleaning the rooms!
No breakfast was included in the price, but there was a bar/cafe around the corner as well as a large supermarket for provisions in the next street. The hotel also boasts a wireless internet connection, though I am not sad enough to take a computer with me on holiday, so can't vouch for this.
Soundproofing between the rooms could have been better and the electrical sockets in the room were a bit suspect at times! But all in all the Hotel exceeded my expectations and was a pleasant experience.
