Puerto de la Cruz
"(Under Construction)"
We really liked Puerto de la Cruz, it had a much more Spanish and somewhat traditional feel about it than Las Americas did, and we found some nice bars and cafes that were not geared simply towards British tourists (in fact, seemingly not geared towards tourists at all).
The town is quite pretty and quite compact and it has a nice (black sand) beach as well as a Lido and a promenade that runs the whole length of the seafront there (2 or 3km).
It's a good place for getting out and about from too, being ideal for visiting La Orotava, Icod de los Vinos, Garachico and also Teide itself. It's a good base for walking holidays too, and we saw parties setting off from there every day.
When we return to Tenerife I'd certainly split my time between here and Las Americas - I found both to be very enjoyable but in different sorts of ways.
