Love the Oro Negro
by TripAdvisor Member May-Elizabeth
WE stayed in the Oro Negro in January 2007 for one week The Hotel was recommended to us by a friend who has holidayed there serveral times The commens on Trip Advisor were not good, and we only discovered this AFTER booking our holiday Well, what a lovely surprise the hotel was warm and welcoming and we had a marvellous room which was big, clean and comfortable The staff in the resturant were very friendly especially, Simone and Zong The hotel is ideally situated for travel by bus or car, we used the bus on several occasions, especially the day we took to Sana Cruz, the Capital The journey was done in comfort and was mainly coastal The food in the hotel was very varied and we thoroughly enjoyed all our meals I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone, and we plan to holiday there again next January for approx 3 weeks
We would stay at the Oro Negro anytime

We were delighted with the room. Clean, comfortable and quiet (apart from inconsiderate holiday makers next door to us - but the hotel cannot be held responsible for them!). Cleaned by courteous staff daily.
Dining room: Good variety of food for breakfast - fruits, cheeses and hams, cooked eggs bacon mushrooms beans etc and a special service where freshly cooked eggs and bacon were prepared for you whilst you waited. Toast, jams, pastries, hot and cold drinks and cereals.
Evening meal - Fruits, soups, bread, salads, fish, meats, pasta, rice and potatoes. Pizza, freshly prepared food each night whilst you wait, grilled chops or fish for example. Sweet dishes and ice creams. A waiter sevice for alcoholic beverages.
Super staff in the dining room. Courteous staff on reception. Entertainments in the evening. A minus side - but common to many Tenerife hotels - the swimming pool water was freezing!
The hotel was situated opposite a free car park - handy if you hire a car, and behind that was the golf course. A few restaurants nearby and a short walk to the town.
Tenerife has many interesting features and it is worth getting out and about. We saw a lot of the island during the week. If we go back there we would not hesitate to stay again at the Oro Negro hotel.
Lovely hotel cant understand why people have moaned

We have just returned from 1 weeks holiday at the Oro Negro Hotel in Tenerife and much to my relief we had a wonderful time.
A few days before we were about to leave i got myself into a state from reading some of the reviews on this site so i am writing to put my point across.
We found the hotel staff very polite but then if you are curtious to people then you will get that in return, we asked for 2 extra pillows they were in our room immdiately, our room was spotless no bugs to be seen. The entertainment staff were brilliant which my kids really enjoyed, the food was fine something for everybody and everyone within the hotel were really friendly and we made some good friends.
I have learnt that obviously everybody has different standards in life which is ok but i cant really understand why people would give this hotel such bad reviews we all came back relaxed, happy and a few pounds heavier and we would not hesitate to go back. A very good 3 star hotel!!

Went with 23yr old daughter for a week. good situation at the top of the resort within easy walking distance of sea front, beach and shops. Easy walk to the bus station to Santa Cruz. Very clean room. Modern bar. Excellent food for breakfast and dinner. Hot and cold choices. Not warm enough to go in the pool but pleasant to sit round it.Entertainment each night and internet available. would go again.
Hotels for lager louts
by TripAdvisor Member liposuction
Hotels for lager louts!!!
Traffic noise awful. lagerlouts swearing, urinating in pool, fighting. sewers opened at night. stench terrible. construction work all over Veronicas. Oro Blanco the same. We will never go to any of these hotels again or any 2 star or 3 star limited to lewd customers and extremly lewd behaviour.
Noise levels are awful at night especially on mainroad facing rooms (most rooms are!).
There is only one place to stay in las americas and that is "Tropical Jairdin". If you book 2 star or 3 star adjacent to Veronicas or near main traffic route you will be severely disappointed. See Tropical Jairdin. It's worth the extra.

This was my 1st holiday abroad although my fiance had been to various locations before.
Arrived @hotel just after midnight + reps just threw my fiance, myself+ another couple off the bus + went on, receptionist didnt speak any english.
Fiance found the food ok+ was happy enough although i found the food average but very repeatitive + very hard to pick something for my dinner + 2nd week we had our breakfast out.
Room was good size + on 1st impression looked nice, 2nd week we locked our room door + hung 'do not disturb' sign on door as we had late nights + wanted a lye in but was disturbed by housekeeper who just walked on in + started cleaning room so we were made to try + dress while housekeeper continued with her cleaning duties + when we returned we found that our bed had not been changed + this happened the whole of the last week.
Great pool + day + evening entertainers excellent, although these staff were the only ones able to speak proper english + had manners, sun loungers hard plastic that bent when you lay on them + your ----nearly touched the ground, very uncomfortable that i only lay out 2 days.
Location was excellent, right in the heart of las americas, basically stepped out the door + had everything @ our finger tips although there was a fair hill walk both sides of hotel which we weren't told of although we didnt mind but for other guests with difficulties it would have been bad.
Would we go back again...Yes due to the location.
Great if you like cockroaches!
by TripAdvisor Member MissRichie
We booked this holiday as a cheap, last minuete deal. We expected so much more than what we got. We moved rooms 3 times on arrival. I am not a picky person but i didn't fancy sleeping with cockroaches. Our first room, we were greeted by a turd on the toilet seat. Not a pretty sight! (i thought the cleaners would have cleaned it away).
The food on a morning was herrendous- who want hambugers at breakfast? My wife found a hair (what she thought was a pubic hair) in her chicken one night. From then on we ate out.
Rooms were dark and depressing, are bulbs hadn't been replaced on arrival as we had asked(mainly as the staff can't speak very much English.
Our washing line was split in two, very useful when i wanted to hand out my clothes.
The pool was full of floaters, we headed to the beach. It was great to get away. I can't stress enough the beauty of the beach. One of the best iv'e seen.
All in all the hotel just needed a reburbish- very dated.
Fantastic holiday
by TripAdvisor Member Scotsgirl22
I have just recently returned from this hotel with my friend, overall our holiday was amazing, Hotel room was spotless, location is brill and we had great room, on second floor facing pool, weather was fantastic and give hotel top marks. Restaraunt has buffet service, and has plenty choice. Mostly couples and older people durimg our stay, however suited us as we were never in hotel, we spent most of our time at beach, and at nite out at the many clubs and bars nearby. Overall fantastic holiday and will be going back soon. Spent one evening in Costa Adeje which is lovely and slightly quieter. A must to visit is the water park and dolphin show
