Hand Woven Lace
by AnneAlex
One of the items the island is known for is its hand embroidery and hand woven lace. You should be able to find several shops around the Santa Cruz area offering different styles and lace creations. This is one of the main stores with many touristy and local creations. You can find this one along the strip stretching from the Plaza de España.
"Sta. Cruz de Tenerife"

Canary Islands are often described as the 'islands of eternal spring'. That is quite true. Tenerife is a year round destination and you can really come at any time without disappointment.
Of course during winter it does get a little cooler, but compared to central and northern Europe it is still pure paradise. Inevitably, the warm winter does tend to draw the bulk of tourists and December to February can definitely be considered 'high season'.
Airfares are most attractive between November and mid December, also from March to May with the exception of Easter that is very popular indeed.
Not quite so busy, but certainly also a high season are the months between May and October. The cool sea breezes can be very refreshing compared to the 'scorchers' associated with mainland Spain.
Bullring

This is the bullring of Santa Cruz. As far as I can tell it's no longer in use, well certainly not for bullfighting anyway. It stands on Rambla General Franco, which is a long, wide boulevard that arcs around the top of the city.
Santa Cruz on business
by vanessadb
As a business trip tends to do, leave you with little or no free time, I was only able to enjoy a very specific aspect of Tenerife: the hotel and restaurants. I did learn quite a lot about the island and its inhabitants though, due to the many meetings with local stores and media.
I realize that Tenerife is known for its takey tourism but this luckily only really affects the south of the island, and I have to admit that I was pleasanlty surprised and really enjoyed what I saw and the places I went to.
The Canary Islands did remind me of Puerto Rico a lot and it is definitely extremely different there from the peninsule. Tenerife was in my opionion more beautiful than Gran Canarias for what I did see but I did hear that some of the other islands are absolutely splendid...
I will have the chance to go back very often, always on business, and look forward to it. Of course I will keep adding tips as I discover them and promise to add plenty of pictures =)
