San Andres
by steventilly
At the village of San Andres, about 20 minutes from Santa Cruz by bus, is Las Teresitas.
Las Teresitas is possibly the best beach in Tenerife, though it is 100% man made. Lovely fine gloden sand has been imported to fill the entire sweep of the bay and a breakwater has been built right across the bay to create what is almost a swimming pool, protected from the worst that the altlantic breakers might bring.
The beach is backed by palm trees and kiosk bars, as well as showers, toilets and changing huts, and naturally there is a lifegurad and first aid hut.
As San Andres is a fishing village it is filled with seafood restaurants, some of which look very good. Being so close and easily accessible from Santa Cruz the beach is easy to visit for a morning or an afternoon - we went on the morning and visited La Laguna in the afternoon, all by bus.
Auditorio
by steventilly
The Auditorio is a superb piece of modern architecture. Built to resemble the sailing vessels of Tenerife's past it stands by the sea close to the harbour entrance. You can walk all around it and up and over a part of it too, on terraced steps. It's very windy and exposed out here by the Auditorio and when we visited it wa salmost dangerously so! But it was a great sight and well worth the trek.
Rambla
by steventilly
This is the Rambla General Franco, most often just abbreviated to "Rambla". It's a wide boulevard which has a road at either side and down the middle a strip of what is almost parkland punctuated by kiosks every few meters. The kiosks sell everything from newspapers to ice cream to snacks and drinks and there are benches all along the Rambla too.
On the outside of the Rambla, across the road, the entire length is lined with bars, cafes and restaurants of various size, style and quality. This is one of the major nightlife centres of the city, and can be quite busy by day too. The hole-in-the-wall cafes seemed to be doing a roaring trade, though as a vegetarian foreigner I wasn't too tempted to go into one (see Restaurant tips).

"quality accommodation in Tenerife"
Booked great apartment for six months only 500 euro or us dollars per month. Wake up to the sun every morning. 100 meters from the sea and surrounded with good eating places and not a load of British people.
"Gary Summary"
Tenerife is place where all European's would love to live. With an average temp' of 25 and only 5 degrees difference between summer and winter what more could you want out of life!
