More about Apartamentos Santa Rosa
Basic but adequate
Stayed at the Santa Rosa with my partner for a week in Nov. 07. Reception staff were very helpful. Restaurant was very 1960 school dining room. Breakfast was standard buffet but lacked choice of fruit. Coffee was very rough and I think it may have had side effects. We paid half-board but only had dinner twice as the food filled a space but had no merit. Rooms of good size (we had one bedroom bungalow) but lack shelf space in bedroom and bathroom. Very clean with maid service 5 days per week. I think that the Silentnight Hippo had been in my bed - I could not roll out! Gardens and pool area immaculate. Very quiet and relaxing venue.
Within 200 yards towards town try Dickins Bar and Casa Juan restaurant.
Best route to town is to walk through Bastian Apartments to Playa Bastian, left along prom past Toledo Restaurant to top of hill then left through walkway which comes out on the main shopping street opposite road down to main beach restaurant area. Distance about 3/4 mile.
Do not go to Costa Teguise if you like old buildings, history, scenery. Go if you want to chill out in a warmer climate.
Do not miss Timanfaya National Park.
excellent value for money
Stayed in a 2 bedroom villa (only paid for one bedroom). Spacious and comfortable, thoroughly cleaned 5 days out of 7. The bathroom was well appointed and each villa had its own private garden. Kitchen had good size fridge, no oven, 2 hobs and a microwave. Complex had an excellent pool, which was warm even in January. Many sun beds at pool, plus bar. There was a good value restaurant on site (12 euros for dinner, including wine). Receptionists friendly and helpful. Hotel about 25 minutes walk from beach and resort centre, which is rather commercialised. We hired a car (only £70 for a week) and visited the real Lanzarote. Two excellent restaurants within 5 minutes walk. Weather was dry, warm and mainly sunny (23C) at the end of January.
In short, Santa Rosa is in a quiet area of Costa Teguise and is a good, comfortable and central base for exploring this lovely island by hire car.
Excellent Value Apartments
We knew the Santa Rosa site because the 4 star Holiday Property Bond (HPB) have about 80 apartments here and we stayed there with friends in 2006. HPB apartments are very upmarket and well equipped; however they charge their members about £250 per week for a one bedroom apartment (in addition to using some of their annual membership points). The site is split into two parts, the HPB section and a separate area which is mainly used by Spanish people.
We stayed in the non-HPB sector in a spacious one bedroom apartment overlooking the pool and although it was not so well equipped as the HPB properties it was more than adequate. The apartment consisted of a twin bedded room, a large lounge with satellite tv, a bathroom with bath, shower, wc, basin and bidet and a separate kitchen area. There was a fridge, a microwave and a 2 ring hob (no oven). This was no problem because eating out locally is inexpensive and there are lots of choices. The site is kept immaculately clean and tidy with a large pool, plenty of sun beds a poolside bar, restaurant etc.
On a self catering basis we paid £145 booking through the YouTravel website. You cannot be robbed!!
I stayed in a two bedroom bungalow for one week in October with my parents and two year old daughter. We had a great time, the bungalow was a little small but very very clean and comfortable. The complex was also very clean and the childrens pool was fantastic for my daughter, We were half board and the food was disapointing, although very fresh it lacked variety and dinner was not served until 1930hrs which was too late for my daughter. The location is the outskirts of Costa Teguise, a pleasant 20/30 min stroll into the centre. It was very quiet though which suited us to the ground. All in all a very relaxing stay !
Wonderful and we are hard to please !
We spent some time choosing the right accommodation for the right price, location and cleanliness. We are couple in our late thirties.
We trusted so may of the positive reviews and they were right.
Loved the bungalow we had and it was a steal at £100 for a week through travelrepublic. So take alook there before Thomson or Expedia for sure.
Think it was so cheap as not many English were on site, was mainly Spanish but they were always polite and non intrusive and quiet except they talk loud !
Staff helpfull at all times and maid v good also.
Pool area great too but food looked awful, so in case rabbit stew your type of food, dont bother. Didnt see any entertainment also so cant comment but didnt hear it late which was a plus and loads of choice of restaurants outside the complex and a few nice bars. Dickens coctail lounge across the road our favourite but if your missing home and want an English bar then go to Steptoes just outside on the right. Their fried breakfasts were a treat also.
Anyway ,all in all a nice week for us and would recommend this place higly if you want a non loud and relaxing break.
P.S. I see a few people moan about the kettle/toaster thing or fact walk into Costa itself too far, so take your own I would say and didnt think the walk a problem if your mobile and fit, as there are two ways to get there.
I.E. Out of the Santa and turn right , take fourth or so road (at the roundabout actually) which is 10 mins or so away, then turn right and walk down for 5 mins or so to the centre.
Or out the complex cross the road and turn left and go past Dickens and Isla Bonita restaurant (Not bad food but all locals) and you come to a walkway with a sign above saying Playa Bastian. Sausalito restaurant shouuld be visible (nice bolognese by the way and cheap) then walk down there past the restaurant and you will get to the Lit seaside walkway people mention which also takes you to the centre but a bit longer. Lots of choices bars and restaurants for everyone, even a curry house Maharaja I think , which for abroad better than most I have come across ! La pardela (I think) next to the tex mex or just past it, does great fillet steak and other half said the sole was lovely.
Only good things to say!!!
I can only continue the trend and say what a fantastic little find this place is. We are a couple in our mid twenties and took our 18 month old baby. Check in was quick, (taxi to resort in 20euro's). Guy on reception speaks perfect English and was helpful. Bungalow we stayed in was perfect. Little kitchen, lounge, shower/toilet and bedroom - more than adequate. Yeah there is no kettle and toaster - they are a euro a day and to be honest better to either buy or take your own. TV had all UK channels and my girlfreind was fascinated that she could watch Corrie although we never stayed in. Lovely Garden area outside your place and nicely kept gardens. During our time we ate out every night, tried Steptoes, The Cavern although the best place is a little Italian just off Playa Bastien. Stunning Fillet Steak!!! We also tried a chinese in Teguise Central which was appalling, don't trust Chinese food away! The apartments have a lot of spanish but this sets a good mood and all are really friendly. Not really much entertainment but bars are around with stuff to do. Teguise main area is less that 20 minute walk for the fit and able, maybe a 3 euro taxi ride if you don't fancy it.
All in all an amazing find for the price, especially considering the location. Reasonably quite although not a million miles away from everything!
My mum and stayed stayed here over the new year and had only good things to say about it.
The apartments were nice and spacious and very clean. It was on the 2nd floor of a two storey building and easy to access.
They are 65 and 7o respectively so i would have heard about it had it not been nice!!!.
The area was quite quiet they said, but in low season i think everywhere is.
They would use again and recommend.
Booked our stay with in2sun. Had a fantastic week here. Clean and comfortable and a great location. Also most apartments are ground floor so good for families or those with walking difficulties. Booked again with in2sun to go back this year.
Definitely worth a look
My friend and I booked this resort following all of the positive reviews on this site through Ola and we were not disappointed. Lovely quiet place for a relaxing week away from the cold, wet and windy UK. Hours of sunshine daily, a couple of really nice days out (suggest that you take advantage of the Last minute trip you can book from reception "Grand Tour" - you see the highlights of both the north and south of the island including the volcano and caves). Reception staff very friendly and helpful.
We were unfortunately placed at the back of the site above the kitchen and this was noisy at night with washers but we soon got used the noise. These apartments as described elsewhere on this website, best to take a kettle as we did following the advice of others.
The site is beautifully clean and well kept. There were a lot of spanish on site although they were not in evidence throughout the day and had activities on site at night.
We took advantage of half board and found the restaurant provided buffet style international cuisine - well they tried, some better than others! It was all edible and as much as you wish is available. There are many local eateries just off site if you do not want to go half-board.
A great resort if you want peace and quiet. Other areas may suit better if you want an active nightlife.
Amazing Bargain, don't think twice just book!
This hotel is an absolute gem. We paid £103 per couple (2share twin room) through travel republic and would have paid 3 times that after visiting. Never heard anything but admiration for the hotel from all the guests staying and the people who lived locally. Am still shocked at the quality we got for the price we paid.
Will try and break it down a little better to help anyone visiting.
The check in was superb, extremely fast. We did need to get someone to help us open the apartment door but that was us being dumb brits rather than a hotel fault and we felt a little embarrassed afterwards. Borrowed equipment for crazy golf and tennis from here at no charge and some laughs and jokes in the process. They ordered our taxi upon us leaving and i can't fault the lobby areas either, very relaxing and comfortable. There are internet computers here (3 i think), they charge but i don't know how much as never used them. There is a night porter on at night to let you in late who was very friendly, sure he must have cursed us by the end of the week as we liked a late evening haha.
Excellent!! The rooms are a great size and as 4 of us went both our rooms were very different as the other couples had a lounge on a slightly lower level which looked great. My wife tells me to mention how impressed she was that they had all 5 british terrestrial tv channels in the rooms as well as the local ones. They have wardrobes including coat hangers which is a rare thing for us lately. 2 single beds but we just pushed them together, dressing table. There is a 4 peice very large bathroom which always seemed to have hot water for a shower and we only get ready to go out quite late on. In the lounge theres the tv as mentioned with a sofa and arm chair. kitchen has microwave, hob, fridge, and some utensils but to be fair who really uses the kitchen that much on holiday. The balcony was a great size with a lovely view of the volcanos. The cleaners came and absolutly scrub the place, clean bedding, sheets and mopping 5 days a week. They are lovely and do a fantastic job. oh yeah almost forgot, there is a telephone also which you can as usual contact the other rooms in your party
Great pool, really huge and most importantly, no germans hogging loungers. You could always always get a lounger and had a good choice of places to bathe. This is because the large majority of the guests here are elderly spanish visitors who go out for the day, so this really is bliss. The pool is imaculate and the pool bar very nice which is strange as it is the only hotel pool bar i have found where the bar prices are actually one of the cheaper ones in the area. it sells all the usual drinks and the bar snacks are great. There is another pool on a slightly raised area to the size behind a small fence for timeshares but you don't even really notice it. No yobs, dance music etc, very relaxing. The surrounding gardens to the pool are very tidy and well kept, very pleasant on the eye. At the pool bar say hello to john and si, they are like a comedy act as one supports barcelona and the other real madrid, just listen carefully to the spanish banter it is hilarious ha ha
Never visited so can't comment and never heard any other guests comment either, sorry.
Local Area -
This is where it will either make it or break it for you. as you walk out of the hotel door and turn right there is immediatly a row of bars and resturants. I will recommend 2 bars there and suggest you ignore the others as we were not over impressed with those but did at least try them. The two i recommend are Steptoes and Cheers both have excellent points. Both serve very good 'pub grub' so if you want a nice breakfast or a spot of lunch then you won't go wrong here. There entertainment is very different which is great as they are a mini pub crawl in themselves ha ha. Steptoes has pub quiz, bingo, race nights etc. Cheers has live music, comedians, kareoke etc. Also i must recomment the drag queen act that was on while we were the called sparkle lee, it was hilarious! Bot places are very friendly and we had a great time (that i can remember haha).
If you want to eat out however in the evening then i would suggest coming out of hotel and turning left, there are some lovely resturants within about 50 yards, can't remember its name but have posted a pic of it, its a lebanese resturant and i have never tasted food as good before. The local chinese resturants were excellent also, worth a visit.
The only down side with the local area is that the main shopping, beach and night life centre of costa teguise is about 25 mins walk away, which as we are quite young was no problem if not thou its about 3 euro in a taxi each way and adds up over a week.
There is a netto next door to cheers also which sells all your bits and bobs for the week. My wife loves her purfumes and we spent alot (too much) time looking round the shops in the centre, i can tell you 100% that charlies is the cheapest and do negotiate on price. Also there is a bank next door to hotel which does exchange and also has a cash machine outside.
All in all as i have rambled on forever here this destination is great an absolute bargain to be had. Be prepared to walk to the beach but enjoy the walk as its beautiful as my pics will show you. If your not a walker then budget for the taxis. Remember also that the exchange rate is very bad at the minute, so for example a pint of beer ranges from about £1.40 to £2.50, half a coke upto £1.80 and in some places a cup of tea worked out at £1.70, just plan your spending money around this as we made a few more trips to the cash machine than we planned ha ha
Please please please thou, these tips are there to help you not put you off. We had one of our best holidays here and loved every minute, we will visit here again and again.
Please feel free to send me any questions and i promise the answers won't be as long as this review ha ha
