More about Apartments Club Siroco
Clean.. But Not Like The Brochure Picture!!
Stayed at the Club Siroco Apartments for a week in Jan this year (07). Weather was grand, Costa Teguise was great, Club Siroco wasn't too bad. The room was clean, and cleaned everyday by very honest chambermaids (few Euros left lying around and not taken!!). BUT!!.. After purchasing a nice deep pan pizza from the local Netto, discovered on arrival back to our apartment that there was no oven!! So we had to try and wedge our Garlic Bread into the toaster!! The other thing was that our hob did not work either, it sent the fuse out each time we tried it! We didn't bother moaning though because we decided to eat out each night anyway. The pool area was not as clean looking as the brochure picture, and the bar... Well, all we can say is that we were glad we were self catering and not All Inclusive, because it would have done our heads in having to spend one night let alone seven nights in the bar. It was lack-lustre, and took forever to get served!! The other entertainment looked dead too! Friday night was supposed to be Karaoke night but didnt happen!
Generally, it was OK to stay in, as we did a real budget holiday anyway! But we recommend walking down the road to Ryans Bar if you stay at the Siroco.
EXCELLENT VALUE FOR MONEY
We have just returned from an excellent two week family holiday. The apartments are very clean although a little tired with excellent maid service 6 days a week. Our children aged ten and fourteen were well catered for in the childrens club, and as we were there over Christmas and the New Year there was a good entertainment programme with some excellent shows on an evening. We were self catering and ate out every evening having the choice of many local very good restaurants (our favourite was the La Gioconda, which is on the same street as the Aquarium). Hire a car to enjoy all the many different attractions the island has to offer.
Our fourteen night stay at the Club Siroco cost less than £290.00 for two adults and two children, that is very good value for money in my eyes.
Definitely not as bad as they say!
Just got back from a week in Costa Teguise, 6-13 May, I read these reviews before I went and was a little apprehensive wondering if the first holiday me and my partner were to share was going to be a dissapointment! But we were pleasantly suprised.
We only stayed self catering so I can't comment on the all inclusive part of the hotel BUT, I was told by another guest that the food was lovely, we had food once in the pool bar and it was rather dire so we didnt eat there again! Snacks are laid out for the all inclusive guests and to be honest, didnt look too appetising. However toasties were nice and the sports bar next to the hotel do takeaway food, reasonably priced and awesome breakfasts :)
We found the apartments MORE than adequate, we only booked lastminute cheap and cheerful getaway and was quite impressed with the club sirocco. Our apartment was cleaned EVERYDAY except thursday, maid service was brilliant, clean sheets, towels, she even did our washing up I felt so bad I asked her not to do it!! Couldn't have asked for better service on reception, my boyfriend broke the shower and it was fixed within 20mins. It was a very clean tidy hotel and the staff couldnt do enough for you. However we only used it as a base and didnt stay for the evenings entertainment which I admit looked quite poor. Both pools were nice, green side and the blue side not heated like quoted though. Very cold but once you got moving it was fine! First day was a little windy but the rest of the week was very warm indeed and we welcomed the breeze on the weekend!
So overall, cant complain, dont expect the worst like we did, its set back from the bars which are on the beachfront but it only takes 5 mins if that to get there. We would definitely go back, but with more money - Costa Teguise isnt that cheap when your trying to budget !!!!!
Two weeks from 23.11 to 7.12
Went for two weeks, having been to the resort in AI hotel for one week about 3 years ago and liked the resort. Booked half board - were glad we weren't AI as there are restrictions. Would probably go back self catering. Hotel lovely and clean, maid service was excellent and maids friendly. Rooms clean and tidy - didn't see any insects at all. Pools cleaned every morning and all the public areas cleaned and washed down every day. Tour rep got a couple of minor problems with pool markings and noise sorted immediately. Lack of entertainment but Sands was good the first week although they were doing repairs the second week so we went up to the Drag Bar one night and a few pubs on other nights.
Food OK first week with plenty of choice - simple breakfasts, rolls needed to be microwaved as were a bit hard, plenty of fruit, cereal and hot/cold food. Dinner menu plenty of salad variety, main carvery dish (sometimes fish eg Tuna loin) and several main course choices plus ice cream and desserts.
Second week breakfasts same but the dinner menu was appalling as we were moved into the pool bar/restaurant and most of the food was cold. No labels on anything and the fish pieces looked like chicken. Lack of salad variety (no black olives or mixed salads) Only two main courses plus chips some sort of potatoes and disgusting veg - the sprouts were soggy and the carrots hard, Paella was soggy and noodles just YUK!!. No ice cream or set dessert just fruit and some sort of cake which most nights was like school sponge and not very nice at all. Needless to say we ate out twice this week. The Pool Snack bar was good and we had scampi and salad one lunchtime.
The adjacent pub (very english and sporty although caters for soap fans) was good to sit out or in - you can also change your paperbacks in here if you are in need of something else to read.
Long walk to main part of town and uphill. Walk to beach about 10 minutes to Las Cucharas but you can got to other beaches nearby. You get to know shortcuts.
Got a pint of local beer for 1.50Euro in some places.
Bus to Arrecife and Puerto del carmen good value and run on time. Book for Teguise market at hotel reception for 8 euros. (cost with rep was 14euros) If there's 4 of you it may be cheaper in a taxi as it will cost 16 - 18 euros each way.
Safety deposit box cost us 30 euros which we thought was a bit much.
We also got extremely fed up with the camera/video/watches shop staff pestering us and there were a few lucky ticket people on street corners as well.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay though and the weather was fine and hot for 12 out of 14 days
Not as Bad as They Say
Booked these apartments for a cheap week away with kids at half term, was a little apprehensive after reading some of your reviews and feared the worst. Pleasantly surprised as this is thie first holiday I have put together myself (No Travel Agent Fees etc), Taxi from airport about 18 Euros to resort of Costa Teguise (or Costa Packet) as i have now renamed it. Apartments however were clean and provided everything we needed for a weeks stay, except entertainment and warm pool. Bedding changed twice and fresh towels every other day. Maid was very thorough and cannot find fault with the apartment we were allocated. However pool was absolutely freezing (not heated as they insisted), my husband nearly went into shock after jumping in, this was the only downside to these apartments, we wanted sun and pool, got occasional sun but not a chance of getting the kids in pool. Resort of Costa Teguise is very very windy at any time of year the local bar owners told me, Puerto del Carmen is a much better choice for sun and activities for families year round. Anyhow we spent a packet on taxis to Puerto del Carmen for the sun and beach for the kids but found the whole Island very expensive (cup of tea at breakfast about £1.05!!!) Costa Teguise more for the older people wanting a laid back slooowwww holiday, but apartments were fine, no problems
Clean but a little unfriendly
Hotel was clean, can't complain! Had a very nice apartment on the thrid floor up, but it had a nice view of the pool and sea. Pool was freezing, but it was a chlorine pool (real swimming pool water), and it was cleaned everyday including sundays at about 10am. On this note i'll mention the Aqua park which would be great for kids, but all the water there is sea water, so no opening your eyes!
In the room, kitchen equipment was good, everything worked. The only english speaking channels we recieved were 'Tiny Pop' and 'CNN' which was a shame.
Minigolf is free which is good, and tennis court is not badly priced for the hour. The staff never seemed happy to give you the equipment or to call you a cab. Every night the hotel layed on entertainment at half 9, although we never went to see it. Hotel is about a less 10 minute walk to the supermarket where there is a small shopping arcade, and about a 15min walk to the rest of the restaurants. We found the food quality amazing, and prices pretty reasonable, about 25 euros per night for two of us.
This is not the place to come if you want a lively holiday with water sports, weather at this time of year was very windy and a little chilly. Definatley needed a jacket! It forced us to relax which was a good thing and was what we went away for. Trips were good, Lutons travel/ Last minute travel were a good company to go with.
Overall, good holiday, nice hotel for the price we paid, and good food.
all inclusive a joke
Couldn't fault apartments but food was terrible and snacks that were brought out were left over breakfast we had to young kids with us and
had to move. thank god other apartment were better
clean and very basic
Stayed here for a week from may 3rd to may 10 , 1st time to lanzarote , loved costa teguise , will be going back for sure , apartments where very basic ,but all we needed was a place to lay our heads , staff were mostly friendly , sunset bar next to hotel is good for a drink and snacks , loved the pub along the waterfront the INN PLACE , mick and lorraine great people , sandra who does the food ..very good and charlie on the karoke's wed and sat ...also made it a great holiday with there hospitality and friendliness,be sure to pop in and say hello !! overall loved the place, cool breeze , cooling you off daily in the heat was great, would and will be back , but would maybe stay somewhere a bit better.
Not a nice experience
The rooms were extremely basic but very clean, although our bath was rusty with a sewage smell leaking from it. The actual complex looked as if they were desperately trying to clean and tidy the place up. The pool was disgusting but another guest complained and this was then cleaned every day. We could not fault the maid service or cleanliness of the apartment and the staff really did try to make our stay comfortable. We went half board and the food was awful with the night before's dinner being served at lunch to AI guests! The food was greasy, stodgy, lacked variety and we ended up eating out 4 out of 6 nights that we stayed. Breakfast was okay but lacked variety. If you are after a place just to rest your head whilst you go off on excurisions then this would suit you fine, if not then I would not recommend the sirrocco apts.
Not as Bad as Everyone is Making Out
We stayed one week self catering. We had a ground floor apartment with a pool view which was very nice. The apartment was very spacious, clean and had everything you needed for preparing meals.
You can always get a sunlounger by the pool no matter what time because the pools are so cold no one goes there. Most people go the beach as the sea was warmer. This was the only thing that put me of this hotel.
Basicall you get what you pay for. We only paid cheap for our holiday so we can't complain. The hotel states its a two star so what do people want!
