Just returned from 5 days half board at the Barcelo Lanzarote. Hotel is worthy of four star rating. Reception is bright with helpful staff. Rooms are good size and kept clean with fresh towels daily if required. Pool area again is clean and spacious - good variety of snacks at the pool bar. Difficult to get a sun bed that had the sun all day long unless you're down to pool area before 11am - however sneaky sun deck above the pool area with approx 20 beds so it's fairly private and you can look down to pool area.
Bit disappointed with the location as it is a 30 minute walk to the town centre - nice sea side walkway for during the day but you have to get a taxi for night time. We mainly watched out hotel entertainment and sat in the hotel bar and also ventured to the hotel across the road to listen to their entertainment too.
All in all a relaxing holiday in good surroundings.

Absolutely fantastic!

Have just returned from the Barceló, I would just like to say how wonderful this hotel is. The staff are amazing, very friendly and polite and willing to always help. Having read previous reviews, I was a little concerned that there may not be a variety of food - this was not to be the case, there was great variety of foods that will cater for all: pizza, pasta and chips if you want, or there are large variety of fish and meats for those wishing to experiment. Depending on what kind of holiday you are looking for, this hotel is ideal for families, but is also great for young people if you are looking for a lazy holiday and a sun lounger by the pool always available. For younger people, Puerto del Carmen is only a 15 min taxi ride away where there is more nightlife catered for the young. There is a courtesy bus that runs every half hour to the nearby main beach and only takes a few minutes to get there. Previous reviews had pointed out the bus wasn’t always on time, but I found the bus to always be on time and it would wait to the exact pick up time before departing. My stay was on a Half Board basis, but was informed that an upgrade to All Inclusive could be done at 15 euros per day per head – worthwhile if you will be hanging around the hotel at most times. The rooms were clean and linens changed daily. No complaints at all and will definitely return to the Barceló sometime soon.

Excellent

We have just returned home from Lanzarote.

Everything about our stay in the Barcelo Hotel was excellent. The hotel was very clean with very friendly and efficient staff.
The food was wonderful with plenty to choose from. I was surprised to hear one or two people complain about the food selection.

The food was fresh with a menu to suit the most discerning taste.

The island itself was very interesting with plenty to do. However I thought that some of the trips were a bit pricey. Care needs to be taken so you are not ripped off.

The fishing trip which cost me 75 euros was a bit of a disappointment since the fishing was off season. My 'big game safari' turned out to be a tiddler.

I would recommend some of the organised trips in order to get the most of your holiday such as the Sunseeker Trip to Feurteventura and the Volcanic Escape. These were organised by Thomas Cook.

We would certainly go back again and are thinking about Easter time.

Pretty good hotel

Have just returned from a very friendly and relaxing holiday at the Barcelo.
Had read some dire reviews before we went but found them to be totally unfounded.

Yes the swimming pools were very cold but what do you expect it is November and the temperature does not get above 25 degrees.

We found the staff very friendly and nothing was a problem.
The food was very good quality with plenty of choice, yes some of the main courses could have been a little warmer, but could not complain about the fish and meat dishes cooked as you waited.
The red wine with the meal was my only downside as they kept it in the fridge.!!!
Breakfast was usually fried eggs and bacon but all freshly cooked with a choice of other dishes.

We were there half board and found the drinks measures were very good in the bar and you were not served the local produce And the beer was quite a good quality as well and all were reasonably priced

The hotel itself could do with some refurbishment as it is showing some signs of age but would have no hesitation in booking another week at the hotel.
There was no rush to get sunbeds in the morning, in fact you very rarely saw anybody at the beds before 0930 in the morning, what a pleasant change.

The hotel entertainment both through the day and at night was pretty good and lighthearted fun.

The cleanliness of the hotel was very good, the cleaners done a great job keeping things spic and span.

The hotel is isolated, but that is what we like on our holidays peace and quiet.

fine

Went here with my partner for a break just before Xmas. Was very impressed on arrival, hotel is a good standard and room was large and nice. Food was fine - bit repetitive but hey you get what you pay for (£300 each half board for a week), staff were all fantastic bar one. We did the all-inclusive for 1 day which was great although I don't think I would have liked this for the whole week. Costa Teguise is qutie a spread out resort, so it takes about 15 mins to walk to the first part of it but maybe half an hour to get to the good bit with the majority of shops and bars but a taxi is only 2-3 euro so fine value. Did two tours with Thompson - one to the north of the island and one to the south (volcanoes etc.) both were fine although possibly a wee bit expensive at 50 euro each, and with no food included. Only problem is once we did these there was nothing else to do on the island, particularly when its pouring down for 4 days solid!

overall a great holiday bar the weather, would recommend barcelo to anyone who is capable of branching out from the typical british fayre - if you want chips and burgers go somewhere else (or stay at home!) And the staff really appreciate it if you at least try and speak a bit of Spanish!
