More about Los Zocos
Los Zocos Resort
Arrived back last week after a 14 night stay at Los Zocos with the wife & children. Had a great time and would reccomend this resort to any family. Rooms cleaned daily, food was good & staff very friendly & always willing to please. Kids taken away for 2 hrs in the morning & 2 hrs in the afternoon (bliss) where they did a various activites from mini golf to water polo. THEY LOVED IT. As to the cockroaches we saw 2, both at night & both outside. This is a hot country where they live & breed. Anyone who expects not to see any bugs whilst in a foreign country needs there heads read. This is not a 5 star hotel, but then you are not paying 5 star prices. We would definetely go back & have reccomded it to friends & family.

not bad holiday
We went to los zocos at he end of july 2004 for 2 weeks. When we got there we thought it was a modern place and looked fantastic! Our room was ok but if you leave you windows or balcany door open you wil probly have cocroches in your room when you get back! The food wasn't very good but edible there were lots of flys around the puddings so you lost your appetite which wasn't very good. The pools were clean and plenty of space. Sun beds were flimsy and one ov the members of my family fell through 1 and many more people did! a little boy cut is foot open so be carefull you see what they are like. the last week we were there they dug up the floor and there was a foul smell outside the block of apartments. The entertainers were friendly and nice but they repeated most the entertainment the 2nd week so you already new what was going to happening! Star light express was fantastic and you should watch it! all in all it was ok
I was very impressed with our arrival, swiftly dealt with and eagerly met by the reception manager who made sure we had two lovely rooms and gave us an assurance that any problems we had would be dealt with swiftly, which was a very encouraging start.
On arrival in our rooms we were pleased with the space and the overall appearance, yes there was a small stain on the carpet (bleach) and one of the kitchen cupboard doors qouldn't close, but to me thats not a problem. I mean, its 3 stars for goodness sake.
We needed a second bed in one of the apartments, so after speaking to reception it arrived at 10.30 pm, which yes was a little late in the day, but at least it arrived and they insisted on making it up for us.
The reception rang me during the first afternoon to make sure everything was okay and asked if we were happy with the rooms etc and if not they would move us.
I saw one couple complain the first day and they were moved to block 3 without any problems.
We met the new guest relations manager towards the end of the first day, and what a wonderful person she is, she has only been there 3 weeks, but she is very attentive and is already making a visable difference with her presence, keeping an eye on problems, writing problems down as they are raised and making sure they have been corrected within a reasonable space of time. She and the Hotels Director have some good ideas about the development of the complex and are both striving making the place even better
As for the food, I honestly expected to get bored with 2 weeks all inclusive and we expected to eat out for a few nights as a change, however, this was not the case, the food for 3 star was simply excellent, always a great choice of salads, meats, fish, including smoked salmon and fresh prawns some nights, freshly cooked steaks etc, pastas, pasta salads, soup, cheese and biscuits, always something to tempt and always hot!!!
Breakfast are a dream, loads of choice and freshly cooked, worth getting up for in the morning
Pools and surrounding areas were cleaned every day, without fail.
Bar, restaurant and snack areas always cleaned away with efficiency, and any spillage (kids etc splling pop etc) was cleaned away within seconds, and I mean seconds.
The animation team deserve medals, they really did make our kids' holiday, they are incredible people, working long hours to entertain the kids and adults alike, all with great talents, the Dirty Dancing show was amazing along with the Starlight Express, and the kids enjoyed getting involved in the Snow White and the seven dwarf show on Wednesday.
Personal thanks goes to Miguel who did everything he could for us to make the 2 weeks for the kids enjoyable, and he is just a 'top bloke'
The hotel is currently undergoing a refurbishment program, with Blocks 1 and 2 getting new bathrooms, kitchens and the carpets are being replaced with tiled floors, I couldn't get a defined completion date, but this is currently ongoing and should solve many of the complaints about dated rooms etc.
We only saw one cockroach late at night run across the path, my son chased after it as he wanted to take it home We never saw any in our room (top floor)
The El Boulevard restaurant in being extended and will have a seperate kids buffet section which will be better for the kids. as at the moment it is all one, as in the kids share the same food etc.
In summary, no hotel is going to be perfect, but the staff at the Los Zocos are aware of there problems and are doing everything they can to improve things, problems are going to arise and I always judge people on how well they respond to problems and the Los Zocos is one of the best businesses/hotels I have come across for dealing with complaints/problems, they are attentive and they will go the extra mile to sort things out if you are not entirely happy.
My personal thanks go to Molocco for doing everything he could for us prior to our visit, keeping us informed etc and also for his warm reception on our arrival, Leslie Garcia for spending the time to chat, and giving people the confidence that things are being monitored etc and the animation team for there tireless energy in everything they do, and also a mention for Miguel who was a star
I know the people at Los Zocos will read this at some point and credit where credit is due, We nearly cancelled after reading some reports, but that would have been the biggest mistake we made, we had a great time here and I'm already looking to come back next year and that in itself says something.
Anybody who doesn't enjoy themselves here is really not trying.
Brilliant for Kids (Big and small)
Returned from Los Zocos on July 22nd. Our party of eight (65, 58, 35, 34, 18, 17, 11 & 4) stayed in 3 Appartments, 1 in block 1 and 2 in block 3. We found the appartments spacious and tidy. The appartment in block 1 was a bit small and dated but more than adequate for 2 adults and the odd sleep over from the little ones. We all had a great time. There was so much to do if you wanted to get involved, or you could relax by the spacious pools where there was plenty of beds, no early morning trips to reserve beds required. The entertainment team and kids clubs kept all age groups occupied during the day. The entertainment at night although mainly geared towards the children was lots of fun too. There is adult oriented shows too which the kids also enjoyed.
The food during our stay was pretty good, no complaints at all however we did find it a bit repetative near the end of our stay. We went out twice for lunch just to have something plain and british.
During our stay the hotel staff were repairing the drains outside some of the appartments in block 2 and the resteraunt was being refurbushed. This may explain some of the previous comments.
Nice place, Excellent entertainment team, Thumbs up for kids clubs.
Loved the Aimatin team
Just got back last week and it was great!
Two large pool aras, a pool bar, tennis courts, astroturf pitch, Crazygolf and a beach volly ball court. What more can you ask for. Howver what eally made the holiday etertaining was the presence of the fantastic Animation team. They organised activities though out the day for all ages and performed a muical most nights which were really good to watch. On the other nights there were a range of activities whch involved the audience taking part. I can't really cmment on the food bcause i'll eat anything. A fun, friendly and relaxed holiday.
TOP MARKS FOR THE ANIMATION TEAM
Hotel was lovely, nice and clean. Rooms were nice, great pool view. Food was lovely, good choice for all meals - breakfast, snacks and dinner. Pools kept clean all the time, staff helpful and friendly. Did not see any cockroaches at all.
not as good as punta jablillo
This was are first all-inclusive and we thought the food was okay but the apartments smelt a bit and the carpet was unhygenic. We came here in January but have since been to the Punta Jablillo and they are much nicer although they are only 2 keys they are worlds apart , but not much difference in price!
worst allinclusive holiday
we arrived at los zocas 3 wks ago and were really disappointed, food was disgusting 1st room filthy dirty, i have never been in an apartment abroard that has carpet in rooms. moved to another apartment a bit better no carpet. there was building work going on we were notified 2 weeks before travelling that they were refurbishing restaurant more like buiklding it! we had to eat out as the food was a no no, unless you like fly's in your jelly or cake, i did report this but nothing was done. The best part of the holiday was the sun and the friends we met from newcastle, there story is worse than ours.
doreenellen's new Canary Islands Page
Tenerife, Lanzarote and Furteventura.
Stayed at the Furteventura Princess Hotel , Jandia Furteventura, which overlooked the coastline. Weather glorious, wonderful views, mountain backdrop. Clear Blue Sea and beautiful beaches, could walk for miles. Best part of holiday was having breakfast outside on the hotel terrace overlooking the bay, so much food. The pools and surroundings were second to none. The entertainment was OK - they worked very hard! Will return one day.
Also stayed at Los Zocos, Costa Teguiese, Lanzarote for the millenium. Lovely island, good beaches and plenty of good walks. Checked out a lot of Hotels. The Market was something else. Bargains to be had but beware of the heat ! The queues for the buses on the return journey were in the full sun. Food at the Hotel was good, all inclusive, but drinks were hard to come by. They did not serve very quickly, good job we didn't want to get drunk! Would return to the island but not to the Los Zocos Hotel. Very good nightclub with good acts next door (had to pay for drinks) Overall a good holiday.
Went on a ladies week to Los Christianis, Tenerife, stayed at the Vista Sur, pink apartments right on the prom next to Playa de le Americas. Two balconies, lovely spot, could see for miles, watched the divers and boats from our bedside. Ate out the whole week, could not remember where, different each night. One restauant nearby was the Sunking, lovely meal with canarian potatoes and sauces. There was an Italian and Chinese we also used, all good value. The nightlife was electric, did not do any clubs though just the bars. But went to the Caribean night out which was the best night of the week.
Los Christianas itself has a very pretty harbour and cafes and good market and shops.
You can go out on a boat to whale watch, but rocky out there sometimes.
One day we will return.
Teguise sunday market.
