More about Punta Jablillo
Fab weeks holiday at Punta Jablillo
If you want a cheap holiday, all inclusive, dont mind drinking non international brands(the white rum tastes just like bacardi and for all those who whined about it in previous posts "READ YOUR BROCHURES FIRST !!"),are not too fussy over your food and are willing to participate and have a laugh with two very hard working entertainment staff then stay at this complex.
On the other hand if you want to spend twice as much on your holiday, have a slightly nicer room, have slightly more choice at meal times, get to drink Bacardi instead of white rum and have the same hard working entertainment staff with a bigger budget then go for a 4star or 4 key whatever you want to call it ,thats the bottom line.
Too many British people like a good whine and to me its better to enjoy every moment than sit and wait for something to go wrong so you can write a snotty letter safe in the knowledge that you might get a £20 voucher Losers!!
Back to the hotel
Rooms comfortable,clean and adequate
Hotel Staff very hard working
Bar staff excellent.
Kids club .Our 10 year old daughter was a bit shy at first but after she started she loved it
Entertainment staff love their job and work really hard. Entertainment when people dont or more likely wont join in must be so disheartening so get up and have a laugh
Thomas Cook reps are new to the hotel and getting things sorted .I know that they check sites like this to pick up on any gripes left by holiday makers and if they are valid getting something done about them.Simple
Pools clean but a bit chilly (Dive in and deal with it ,its fine )
Food .In the 7 nights we were there we had 2 BBQs, 2 roast joints and plenty of selection(remember its 2 star) new table cloths, staff always busy.
Location .walk into town and bus stops 200meters safe beach just round the corner.Did a "have a go scuba" session in there ,full of fish, awesome
Weather.Bit windy (its the canaries duh) but plenty of sun
Main pool and pool area were being repainted on the last day we were there so there were only about 40 residents , we had loads of room no queues etc
all in all every thing i expected and more for a 2 star hotel
what a great holiday
we arrived in the punta jablillo on the 6th of may. after reading some terrible reviews we were very worried. dont belive a word its great. the animation team are fantastic with the kids. and all the staff are really friendly. the food is great but there could be a greater selection of snacks. my advise is if you want a 4 or 5 star then pay for it!!!!!!!!!!!! for the money you pay it is well woth it. the reps angie and laura were fantastic. make sure you talk to them. i wpul deffinatly recomend it and i will be going again later this year.
Had a great time, would definately go back
Having been to Tenerife and Gran canaria i was expecting a lot of walking this time with three kids in tow. The Punta was smack bang where i would have chose, near beach, shops and very nice. Just arrived home 27 March 2005 got a good tan and booking to go back next hols. Anybody reading the reviews would be put of as i was nearly but couldnt afford not to go at such short notice. One review said food was no good but im not that fussy, once i got there we went straight for dinner, the variety of food was excellent but because there was a great selection the quality of it was not so, this didnt put me off cause my hunger got the better of me. One week was enough with the kids but next time it will be two weeks.
An almost hidden gem
I loved it.
The staff were extremely hard working and a mostly happy and friendly bunch, especially Jose (the Halifax man) who works the bar.
The Thomas Cook reps were great (Angie and Laura), they put up with my terrible humour and always seemed to be busy and very helpful. They are both getting to know the resort and the hotel having both only recently started there.
I went on holiday to have a quiet, relaxing time with the wife and kids, but after a couple of days the hotel entertainment staff, Stanley and Laia, brought me out of my shell. I had a lot of fun joining in with various sports in the day and watching them work on stage in the evening. It also helped to break down barriers with other holiday-makers. Stanley and Laia are not working there to have plenty of time to top up their tans. They are 2 hard-working people who genuinely seem to enjoy what they are doing. They also have a very caring manner too. They arrange games and sctivities by day and are very entertaining on stage in the bar at night. They do their best to get to know as many guests as posible, and the majority of the guests really seemed to like them.
When we were leaving, they both came down from their balcony (on their only day off) to say goodbye, and Stanley thanked ME for joining in with them. It should really have been me thanking them for getting me moving instead of vegetating round the pool all day.
The rooms are reasonable and well cleaned. The food is good, but could be a little repetitive, and usually very well displayed.
Costa Teguise is a really nice resort, only spoilt by a couple of large hotels. The Teguise Playa next door dwarfs the Jablillo, but most buildings in the area are only 2-3 floors high.
I was very sad to leave as I had a great week in Lanzarote. We (the family) have already agreed that we would all like to go back, and will over the next couple of years.
We got home from Lanzarote on 7th April. We stayed at the Punta Jablilo for 14 nights. We were all very apprehensive about our holiday following the reviews we had previously read. Following a seven hour delay at Manchester we finally arrived at 8.30pm. We were very surprised when we saw our appartment. It was modern, spacious and clean. We then went into the restaurant and really enjoyed our tea. The following morning we opened the curtains to brilliant sunshine. The view from our balcony was excellent. It looked over the main pool area, which then lead to the sea. At nightime we could see the cruise ships all lit up. The entertainers at the Punta Jablilo were Stanley and Laia. They worked really hard day and night. There were different games for adults and children, during the daytime and in the evening did a mini disco for the children (most of the adults enjoyed joining in as well). Afterwards it was bingo time followed by various entertainment acts who visited the Hotel. All the staff who worked there were polite and very friendly. The bar staff were really good for a laugh. Although we enjoyed our holiday, the food was very repetative after the first week, and could have been alot hotter than it was. If I did have any complaints at all, it would be the lack of hot water. But when you have been outside in high temperatures all day, you didn't need a boiling hot shower anyway. We met loads of people on our holiday who were very friendly and good company. A holiday is what you make it. We don't as a rule stay at the same place twice, but if we did we would definately stay at the Punto Jablilo. Good Value for money...........ole !!!!!!!
very basic hotel, food very basic but i must add the meals we had were very nice, could of done with a bit more variation, bar staff very freindly & cheerful, reception staff fine , reps very helpful when needed but did not have much to do with them , outside bar closed at11pm but this would be good if you were staying in aroom near this bar around the main pool area with small children, main bar closed at 12 midnight , again some people would prefer this as they want to go to bed at this time, if you want more drinking time go to the bars in town , as for the entertainment well it was like non existant on some nights ok for little kids who knew no better about quality entertainment, i think most adults with no kids went out , we had two , one 10 , & 14, they thought it was rubbish not for them , we tolerated it by sitting in reception next to main bar because we did not want to go short on our all inc price, we did drink in the bars a few times to remember what decent home beers tasted like, we found a lovely bar called the dolphin on the sea front it was a sports bar mainly football the lad who owned it was a birmingham city fan, i watche chelsea vs bayern munich there what a night, & then on the saturday watched chelsea vs birmingham what a good atmosphere brilliant, weather you cannot control was ok cloudy, windy , sunny , remember to take a jacket for night time walking gets cold, to sum the holiday up , very relaxing chilled out holiday , but some one tell me this why when most britts go on holiday abroad with children why do they let the kids run riot , not all people with kids want other kids to spoil there holidays , it the end of the day we all go on holiday to relax
don`t believe a word
Having just arrived back from our holiday at the Punto Jablillo on the 14th April 2005 i can honestly say that all the bad reports that i had read had made me wonder what on earth we had let ourselves in for.
HOWEVER when we arrived ( all 20 of us. as it was a surprise for my 40th birthday ) we found that the hotel receptionist spoke adequate english and was very helpful in explaining the location of our room.
Upon entering our room on the second floor my wife and i commented on the overall presentation and the view of the sea and pool area was great.
The kitchen area was clean and looked as though there had been recently fitted new units and worktops.
CONTRARY to earlier reviews there were no broken tiles, there were no cockroaches the bathroom was clean and presentable, the wardrobes were not broken and everything worked perfectly. If we had one small complaint it would be that there wasn`t really enough hot water to go round at peak times however this problem is a common one in a lot of resorts.
POOL...The pool was clean and checked every morning for chlorine content, this i know because i saw them checking it myself whilst i was sat on the balcony at 6am having a fag. The pool was cold but that didn`t stop us going in.
FOOD.. There was a good selection of food to cater for everyone however some days it could have been hotter. The roast pork was lovely.. If i had to complain about anything it would be that i have put on 7lbs in one week...
REPS....The reps were very friendly and went out of their way to help in any way they could and always had a smile and a hello for everyone.
ENTERTAINMENT... There was a kids disco and sing-a-long which they all seemed to enjoy.. Other entertainment could have been better and maybe the bar could have stayed open for longer..
BAR STAFF... Were absolutly fantastic, very friendly especially Abdul, a credit to the hotel
MAID SERVICE... cleaned every day with beds made and clean towels twice or three times.. also quite bizzarely they even changed the shower curtain which was a first for us!
OVERALL... All 20 of us had a really great time and would recomend it to families especially..
We would like to thank all the staff at Thomas Cook, Albion st, Leeds for making this holiday special
It ain't true !
I was so worried after reading all of the terrible reviews, particularly travelling with young children. If you are going - do not be alarmed. We had a lovely time. In the past, at times, we have been unlucky with either, a busy, noisey bar nearby, or a cliff edge location, or a very busy and dangerous road....-Punta Jabilio is a great location with a back gate which leads on to a lovely costal walk. The sandy beach is only a short stroll away with a larger sandy beach just a bit further. We were lucky in that we had a room which overlooked the pool, which in turn overlooked the sea. If you have not yet booked, put a request in for room 324 - lovely views!
Staff were very friendly and rooms were very clean. You also get a full English breaksfast which I think is unusual with an all inclusive package. The food was probably the most dissappointing, particulrly the childrens section, but there is just about enough choice that you can muster up something reasonable. Apart from that - there is nothing negative to say about Punta Jabilio. Now I have found somewhere so suitable for the children - I will be going back later this year!
what a fab holiday !!
just got back yesterday from a week`s all inclusive at the punto jablillo and we had a fantastic time. there were three of us(myself, partner and daughter aged 3) and we all had a truly fab time. We did not read any reviews before we went as we only booked at the last minute. After reading some of the bad reviews on this site I am wondering if these people stayed at the same place as we did ???
Our room was a one bedroom apartment overlooking the main pool area which in turn looked out to sea, the apartment was very clean and very well appointed, the maid service was first class with towel changes and beds changed a couple of times during the week.
The pools were fantastic with a small pool for the kids(450-500mm deep) and a larger pool for adults and the braver of the kids, beware though that if like me you are somewhat verticaly chalanged(5`6") it does get very deep very quickly(over 6` in places) also watch out for the temperature of the big pool, can be a bit of a heart starter first thing in the morning, brrrrrr!
The resteraunt was a bit kind of school canteen like, it`s a buffet, choice of food was adequate(2 keys remember) and was always warm, a cooked breakfast in the morning is always a good way to start the day and you can have as much or as little as you like. lunch and evening meal were good, again with adequate choice.
The pool bar opens at 10.00am and serves all the local alcholic drinks as well as soft drinks and ice cream for the kids. The beer was always cold, just nice on a warm day. Pool bar also serves snacks all day with hot dogs one day and hamburgers the next.
The entertainments team were always up for it, Stanley(you vant to play vater polo in da big pool?) and Laia(ve go rifle shooting, no?) although we did not take them up on any of there offers and they were never pushy. there is also a kids club for the kids from age 5 which we did not use as the little one is only 3.
Good evening entertainments programme on a two week rotation with a mini disco for the kids, prize bingo and sometimes an act from outside, all other times Stanley and Laia kept everyone going with their antics.
All in all a good place to stay, freindly staff, clean, decent food, safe for the kids and not too far from the beach and the main shops and bars in the resort.
wonderful place,great for kids
I have just returned,I went on my own with my 2 daughters 6 and 3 years,we had a wonderful holiday, the food was great, everything really clean, loads for the kids, standly and laila were great, doing the kids disco ,which my girls loved.do not believe any of the bad reports,if you want a great family holiday and have young kids you can`t get better.
