More about Solvasa Teguisol Apartments
An older couple looking for a winter break for sunshine, rest and peace and quiet, we purchased a ten day self catering holiday at Teguisol. The unit was clean, spacious but sparsely equipped. No comfort, just practical. We had to request kitchen equipment to enable us to prepare, cook and eat our meals. There would appear a toilet paper shortage, no replacement, unless requested (not just us, others around confirmed they had resorted to buying there own). No teatowel available. Had to buy same. The beds were to be changed only once during the ten day stay, by day six I requested the beds be changed. Due to bad weather 8 out of the 10 days we stayed in the unit far more than would be normal. The unit was very cold. Rain flooded in the bedroom window at 3am one morning. I think this is a fault of most buildings on the Island as they are not use to the adverse weather they are currently experiencing. We found the one euro charge for the TV very off putting. If only there was some form of entertainment in the unit ie radio or a tape deck. Surely there is some other way of charging to watch the TV.
This complex is suited more to families. There are facilities for them with day and evening clubs. In one of the central gardens, in the middle of the units is a fitted out playground. Children used this from 7.30am to 7.30pm. We were unfortunate to have a unit overlooking this, we were screaming by the end, due to the noise.
We would not recommend the buffet room. Food is over heated curling up, not well cooked. It seemed to us that they had a very low budget for their food which showed in its content. We did try it three evenings but gave up in the end as it got progressively worse.
We would recommend this resort to families. For what we paid, we had value for money (not counting the food which was extra). We would not go again, next time seeking a quieter complex.
Fantastic kids entertainment
Arrived at Teguisol Apartments for 1 week 24 March 2005. Ideal location - short walk from shops/beach, extra 10 minutes walk to main town, which was quiet at this time of year. Did not need to leave Teguisol Apartments really as a family with 2 kids age 5 and 8 the entertainment was fantastic. The entertainment team went out of their way to ensure every kid had a brilliant time.
Would recommend to families. Lovely, clean resort, staff very helful and friendly. Salt water pools, but lovely pool areas, kids pool and large pool. Surprised how good buffet was, Cave Restaurant excellent.
Pool tables, bar , kids clud, pool entertainment - what more do you need?
Loved the pizzaria!
WOW! They sell San Miguel! You get a free bottle of Honey rum with every pizza purchased! There is colourful entertainment laid on every night of the week and if you like cats you can fill your room with them! (We found they preferred to drink skimmed milk) Regular excursions are organised very well, we enjoyed them ever so much! The locals can't do enough to help and the room contained the best four walls I've ever seen! We will definately return to the Teguisol Resort!
My husband and I stayed here in January 2005 for 2 weeks. We were very happy with our 1 bedroom apartment, which we thought very spacious. We have stayed in a lot worse over the years. It was cleaned regularly and towels/sheets changed regularly also. We were self-catering, but did have a meal in The Cave restaurant within the complex. It was excellent. We had a look at the buffet restaurant menu a few times, but must admit, did not fancy it at all. The entertainment is, I would say, more suited for youngsters, but the entertainment staff do put their all in to it. We are both 54 years old and the weather in January suited us just fine. It was hot enough for us to laze on the beach or at the pool, but not as hot as it would be in July/August. There were rocky shores, but lots of sandy coves and beaches also. A great holiday - in fact we are going back to Teguisol in September 2005.
Freez.z.z.z.z.z..zing swimming pool
We arrived on the 30th December 2004 for a 7 day stay. We all enjoyed the holiday (my wife and I plus our 3 children) booked through Thomas Cook. We were booked into 2 adjacent rooms next to the swimming pool. The beds had seen better days (the bed settee's were disgusting) but the apartments were really big. It was annoying that the TV had a meter (1 euro per hour) on it. We were pleased we went self catering because the food selection in the buffet restaurant is fairly good but the quality is a bit poor. One meal for convenience is enough.
The pools are not heated but very clean (mainly because they are freezing cold!!). Only a few brave soles went in and the adult pool was mostly deserted. I took me 10 minutes to edge in. The pools are salty but this isn't a problem because hypothermia is more worrying.
The staff are quite friendly and I would recommend car hire for a week (165 euros for a VW polo hired in the town rather than the hotel).
We really enjoyed the Cactus Gardens (20 mins drive north), we made 2 visits and the garden restaurant was ace! It's really spectacular.
The drive to the south and the volcano national park was also excellent (the panoramic restaurant was again fab).
Don't book the trips via the holiday reps. As a family of 5 we got a hire car for the week at the same cost of of day coach trip to the national park.
The electronic/camera shops are a rip off in Casta Teguise. The reps warned us all about them but people staill bought duff cameras and cheap web cams (sold as video cameras).
Our kids loved the kids club and all the staff there deserve a mention. Ryan, Malcolm, Sarah, Charlie and Colette were all really super.
We went over to the 5* Hotel Beatriz (5 mins walk) to see how the other half live. It's worth a visit.... absolutely spectacular inside and you can have a sit down drink in the bars. No kids entertainment though, and the entertainment is in Spanish.
The night time at the Teguisol was interesting. Our kids really liked it so we had to go most nights. Everyone seemed to smoke and it was pretty horrible. We're not snobs but it was a bit down market. If you like to get pi**ed and smoke a lot, then you'll be at home. The bought in shows were really good.
All in all, we had a good week. We go on lots of holidays each year so it was fine. I wouldn't recommend it if it's your only getaway or it's a special occasion. We booked it because we couldn't find anything else last minute. It's a ten minute walk to the town and the sea front, quite a good location.
Enjoy your visit!!
ps, I thought the scuba diving in Lanzarote was disappointing (sandy with low vis).
We booked our Xmas break at the last minute and where told the apartments were family friendly and clean. We felt very disappointed when we found the kitchen utensils where unclean, the loo was disgusting and the bath was full of grime. We are by no means snobs, but when we go away we expect to stay somewhere where at least the rooms are clean. The food was poor, with hardly any fresh fruit of veg, perhaps we where just unlucky with our room, i don't know. But most people complained amoungst themselves about the standard of the food.
We stayed here in March 2004 and thought it was lovely.
There was everything in the resort we could have wanted, 3 restaurants, a pool, supermarket very close, entertainment etc.
At the time, being a young couple, we thought it was a bit on the quiet side, but now we have a family, it would be ideal and we would love to go back.
Far too Expensive
Just got back from this hotel,My wife and i stayed for 1 week only and boy are we glad we only went for a week.
1.The shower was broke we never got it fixed we had to have a bath instead.
2.The toilet drains stunk.
3.1 Euro an hour for crap free to air channels.
4.Our apartment NUMBER 128 never got a bit of sun shaded all day.
5. Says 800 mtrs from the beach more like 1 and a half miles and the beach is rubbish.
6.Went with Thomas Cook held up for 9 and a half hours at Gatwick airport
all they offered us in compensation was a free drink on the plane not good enough.
7.No entertainment until after the bingo every night show started at 10-30 pm wasnt worth waiting for.
8.Now we come to the bar 5 euros for a vodka or bicardi,£1 25 for a splash of coke etc total rip off.
9.When the sun did not shine Thomas Cook reps went missing
10.Do not buy cameras etc on this island as they are also a rip off.
Stayed in this apart-hotel from 20th April-28April and loved it. This was in fact our second visit here having stayed in October 2004 and we could not wait to get back. The staff went out of their way to see that we got the same apartment as last time and could not do enough for us to ensure we were comfortable. We had a great sea-view from the terrace and a lovely mountain view from the bedroom. The rooms were spotless and were cleaned everyday even the floors were painstaklingly scrubbed!! The reps were superb and pulled out all the stops to ensure fun was had by all thanks Vikki ann Sophie you excelled yourselves!! The only bad point is the dinning room which served dinners which reminded me of my very worst scool dinners. However they do have a very nice resturant, 'The Cave' and a good chinese so the dreaded dining room can be avoided!! All and all though we had amazing weather, clean rooms, a quiet location, friendly staff and amazing reps what more could one ask for from a holiday? My wife and i have come home and have never felt more relaxed and yes you guessed it we will be back!
