I did not actually stay in this hotel but after dining in the restaurant twice and inspecting the surrounding area I feel confident recommending the property. The Hotel Restaurante Miramar is located on the Paseo de la Barquera past the Sanctuary, right above the slight hill - there is no street number, the address denotes "s/n", meaning "sin numero" = without number.
The property sits right by the water in a very pleasant, quiet area of San Vicente de la Barquera, perfect for a wonderful night's rest. What I saw of the restaurant was extremely clean and well attended.
The website denotes it's a three star hotel and supports my perception as far as cleanliness and the wonderful location.
NOTE: I am rating the hotel. There is also a Residence Miramar from the same hotel group but this was on the other side of the street and I did not visit the property as I did visit the hotel. To see information for the residence, just click "La Residencia" at the website below.
The prices in the website denote "high season" (Temporada Alta) and "low season" (Temporada baja). Please note the "comparative price" rating given below used the "high season" figures - this is between July 1st and September 15th.
It is a little farther walk, but still manageable from the bus station - just face the water, turn left and walk alongside the water to the end of the small bridge. From the small bridge take a right and go past the sanctuary, slightly up hill to the hotel.
Breakfast supplement is 6 Euro, Dinner supplement is 18 Euro (and well worth it!).
- The hotel's restaurant was very clean and welcoming.
- The location of the hotel is beautiful and very peaceful, and they show rooms with view of the water.
- Excellent place for a nice stroll a little away from the main tourist center but very close to everything.
I do not hesitate to recommend this place if you are looking for a quiet retreat with wonderful views.
The campground is beautifully located between pinetrees and almost completely surrounded by beaches.
Where ever you place your tent, you are assured of some shade during the day (which is really handy during hot summers).
There are two beaches surrounding the campsite: El Rosal, which is actually Ria de San Vicente. It is a nice beach for famlilies, calm waters. And Meron, which is 2.5 km long, so you can always find a nice spot to lay your towel, But beware of the waves here, they can be strong.
The way it is located makes it very unique
