    Wow!!! This hotel is beautiful. Set in the El Sardinero area of the city and only 200 metres from the lovely beaches of the area.
    It has a large piano lounge and an excellent restaurant specialising in fish.
    The buffet style breakfast is very good with a large selection of fresh fruit cereals cooked eggs bacon etc...
    The rooms are like mini suites. Very spacious and clean with ample storage space.
    Staff are friendly and knowledgeable

    Lovely African feel to the comfortable and large lounge.

    The hotel is near the Santander football stadium and a large sports centre.

    The facilities of the local sports centre can be enjoyed by the guests of this hotel.
    Taxis to the centre are approx 5 Euros and the buses (which are very frequent) are 1Euro each way

    We booked this hotel through Expedia and arrived to be told we could stay for the first of our three nights but would transfer to another hotel for the next two.

    After much discussion (in which it was discovered the breakfast Expedia had led us to believe was included, wasn't) we suggested that as we would be in possession of the room it would make sense to contact whoever was due to be arriving the following day and advise them to go to the other hotel (which on inspection seemed to be of equal quality).

    The receptionist conferred with the manager and let us stay for our full term (and Expedia agreed to pay for the breakfasts . . . still waiting for this though). From then on we could not rate the hotel too highly. Very clean and spacious and it had an excellent restaurant reasonably priced, the staff were also very helpful and efficient.

    The decor was interesting, modern with tribal influences, a great staircase down to the piano bar.

  • Directions: Situated in the Sardinero area of the town it was a bit away from the centre but very close to the Atlantic beach. Only a minute or two's walk from an excellent bus service (15 minutes to town).

    Situated near the atlantic beach in the smart El Sardinero area. Our balcony overlooked a school and the Racing Santander soccer stadium (see sports travel tip) so there may be occasions when the surrounding area gets very busy.

    Look in the right direction and you get a great view of a little island with lighthouse.
