Great City.
We did not stay in Santander...but what we saw was very beautiful...on our return we had a walk along to the marina...but unfortunately it was siesta time & not many places were open.So we just enjoyed the sights & the sunshine.

Hi,arriving on the boat from plymouth, can any one advise if a tandem and trailer is allowed on the small ferry length is about 3meters,i believe it is just a small passenger ferry, also is it the best way out of santander im heading to roscoff via vitoria, pamplona crossing the pyranees to st jead de pied a port,it will be in july so i expect it to be busy so quiet roads preferred. If any one has info on campsites in the area of route it would be appreciated.thanks les
Do you mean the Plymouth-Santander Brittany Ferry? It's not that small - in fact it is quite large - when you come to make a booking you should find the choice of vehicle and then trailer and length of trailer is suggested. I have seen different sizes of trailers on that ferry.
For directions etc I normally use Google Maps and sometimes if you open a map of your region you can zoom in to look at more detail then clear the search box and put in words like Camping Sites and this may give you a few ideas.
It can also provide some suggestions of different routes to take by using Driving Directions.
Or you can look at www.viamichelin.com which is the French owned mapping tool.
sorry if you misunderstood,im arriving on the ferry to santander from plymouth and was looking to use the somo ferry and if it was suitable for a 3m tandem&trailer
My mistake ! have a look at this link for a picture of the passenger (not vehicles) ferry to Somo and other information. Copy and paste the link in your browser.

Hello :
First of all sorry for my bad English , but I do not know what means a "tandem and trailer" ( Is it a trailer and a bicycle? ).
The Somo ferry is is an small boat for passengers and it take about 20 minutes to cross the bay . The Plymouth ferry station is besides the dock where the Somo ferry departures ( 200 m)
If you want and give me the "t&b" details , I may ask in the ferry if it is possible to transport it
I am sending you the "Reginas" web , in perfect Spanish , sorry , where you may see the boats , the service and the timetables .
You will find plenty number of camp-sites in your way , see the web(http://www.vayacamping.net/ccan.asp?lang=en )
From Pamplona to Saint Jean de Pied de Port you are doing part of the "Camino de Santiago" in the oposite direction and in July you may find there many people as this year is Año Santo ( Holly Year) , some thing to take in mind , not to be worried
Buen viaje !!!

This palace commands a prominent position on the peninsular.
The city gave the palace to Alphonse XIII as a person and not as royalty so he was able to sell it back to the city in the 1970s as it did not belong to the royal domain.
Built in 1909 it looks very Scottish.

Se han abierto nuevas galerías que permiten hacer espeleología con aventura, pero tienes que estar dispuesto a ponerte el buzo, a arrastrarte por algunos sitios y a llenarte de barro

One of my favourite views from the Madeleine Peninsula is the Puntal Beach, a long sand bar that stretches into the Bay and protects it from the currents of open sea. It provides excellent places for swimming and sunbathing for the people who want to escape the people agglomerations of the downtown and Sardinero beaches. It can be accessed from the city centre by regular boat lines.
