Santillana Del Mar & Comillas
by freya_heaven
" Santillana"
The picturesque medieval town of Santilana is situated in Western Cantabria.
In 1899 the town became a National monument & it is easy to see why. the place is actually very small, but it is immaculate. Because of the time of year we visited, we pretty much had the place to ourselves. In the summer it can be packed full of tourists.
A local saying about the town is..........
"Santillana del Mar is the town of the three lies, it is not Holy, it is not flat and it does not have a sea"
I have no Idea how the town came to get its name!
" Comillas"
Comillas is a pleasent seaside town in West Cantabria.
Perhaps the most famous place in Comillas is the Capricho de Gaudi. A summer house built for the Marquis of Comillas in 1885, designed by Gaudi
