Just to the west of Comillas as you leave the town there is a weird area of dead trees in water. It is a huge area & you drive over a bridge through the middle of them. Quite Spooky!

The countryside of northen Spain was beautiful, this particular photo was taken just outside Santillana. It was very lush & green with beautiful rolling hills. I reminded me more of Austria than Spain!
The Pilgrims who travel from east to west walk through this wonderful landscape. This area is very popular with walkers, hikers & higher up in the Picos de Europa, mountain climbing
The balconies of ancient houses have all kind of stuff: plant pots, lamps, cages, agricultural implements... I guess that some of those things are there since the Middle-Ages!
Los balcones de las casas antiguas tienen todo tipo de objetos: macetas, faroles, jaulas, aperos de labranza... Creo que algunas de esas cosas están allí desde la Edad Media!
Santillana is a popular tourist spot in Cantabria, and although very well preserved, I found it too commercialised and this detracted from the traditional spanish atmosphere they have tried to capture.
If you are going to visit Santillana I would recommend that you go in the late afternoon to avoid the coach tour crowds.
