Climate
by Aitana
Cuenca is 956m above sea level, up to 1000m in the old town.
The climate is continental typical of the Spanish plateau, with cold winters and hot summers. Spring and Autumn are pleasant, with smooth temperatures during the day but nights are cold due to the altitude.
The cliffs

Cuenca is a city of canyons: a narrow stripe of rock flanked by two deep canyons carved by rhe rivers Júcar and Huécar. You cannot walk for a long distance in Cuenca without stumple over a mirador and each one of them offers a more beautiful sight than the former.

The ramparts of Alarcon
by breughel
The hill where the village is situated seems to have been inhabited since prehistoric times. It was conquered by the Romans, converted into a fortress by the Arabs and conquered back by Alfonso VIII. The enclosing ramparts are one of the best known and most complete defence systems existing in Spain today. The castle was built by Alfonso VIII on the site of an earlier Arab castle.
Bridge of San Pablo

This bridge connects the old city to the Parador de Cuenca (former a monastery). Originally, built between 1533 and 1589, which was made of stone. As one of ist arches crumbled down, it was rebuilt in 1902 made of iron and wood as we see it currently. From here, you’ll have a great view over the Huecar gorge, the parador and the surrounding area.
