The Pure Rustic Place
by dorinica_2002 about Posada de San Jose , Cuenca
The staff of the hotel is something rare to see...they do all they can for your comfort !
The hotel is situated on a silent and narrow street so the sleep is safe and quiet . The furniture from the rooms and the halls of the hotel is rustic so very interesting to see , because it is genuine and you cannot see a mixture of the styles : all is pure ! From the garden of the hotel , situated on a rock , the valley opens to the eyes in his wonderful part . You can see the begining of the range of the mountains who lies on six kilometters away .In this peaceful place , you can enjoy the sun , the smell of the roses and a cup of coffee .Only the birds can disturb you , but this is happiness , no ?
Views Over the Huecar River Gorge
by deecat about The Posada De San Jose Hotel
In the lovely small town of Cuenca, we stayed in the heart of the old historic quarter in a 17th century building called The Posada De San Jose Hotel. It has magnificent views over the Huecar River Gorge, a privileged location. The rooms are comfortably furnished and homemade Tapas and other typical regional dishes are served. Breakfast is served in the cozy dining room where there is an impressive view.
Note: The entrance is easy to miss because it is just an antique doorway with a niche alcove about it featuring a charming statue of San Jose holding the infant Christ. [Don't be discouraged if you miss it the first time you try to find it.]
This is a family-owned hotel, and the owner speaks perfect English.
We asked for a room with a view and got it.
It was incredible.
There are 21 double rooms. We liked everything about this hotel. First, we had a lovely room overlooking the gorge with fantastic views. The bed was hard, the way we want it.
The place was immaculate. They spoke English so that made it convenient to ask questions. The location was in the antique quarter near everything we wanted to see.

Cliffhanger Converted 16th Century Convent

Friendly, family owned. A trip back in time. No TV or other modern stuff. Rooms are fairly austere and traditionally furnished. Only Hotel in the Old Town. Highly recommended for authenticity and atmosphere. You walk DOWN stairs to Rooms from street level lobby. as this is in a Hanging House built on the side of a cliff. Every room unique. Great views.
