Driving towards Zaragossa from Madrid the day was passing and we were starting to think of a bed for the night. The map showed no real towns on the road ahead and the villages we passed through had no hotels to offer.
A poster caught the eye with information that there was a Paradores hotel at Siquenza only a small diversion from the main road.
As we approached we saw a wonderful old castle dominating a seemingly entact old medieval town. There were signs to the Paradores which we followed through narrow winding streets wondering if we could locate the place.
Imagine our delight when we ended up at the Hotel only to discover it was the castle we had seen when approaching the town.
All I can say is this proved to be one of if not THE best experience of an Hotel in my entire life! And all at a very reasonable rate of €128 B & B for two!
Unique Quality: A real Castle with all the modern comfort you could want set in the most attractive historic village, perfect.
Directions: The Castillo dominates the small medieval town of Siguenza.
Siguenza is around 40 miles NE of Guadalajara in the direction of Zaragossa, 10 miles off the main E90 (A2).
My family and I will be staying at the Parador in Siguenza for the first time next week. Does anybody have any recommendations for places to visit in the nearby area? There are two nearby national parks (Rio Dulce and Alto Tajo). Has any VT member visited these parks and are there any recommendations? Thanks!
