La Posada de Almargo**: Almargo; An alternative to Cuidad Real

The room was beautiful and the bathroom wonderful (although the shower didn't have much pressure). It was a room you really wanted to spend time in. And as there is nothing really happening in Armargo unless the theatre is open this is a great benefit.

Although it said there was also a restaurant when we asked the man he didn't really seem to know anything and said it wasn't open.

All in all the room made it worthwhile. I didn't mind spending 40€ on it. Though I wouldn't say the town was worth spending much time in.

Alfonso VI****: Going up market in Toledo

As usual not booking a hotel sometimes means you have to take what you can get. Therefore when we arrived in Toledo at about 5 o'clock we realized we couldn't be fussy. After asking around several 1 star pensions and 3 star hotels and finding them all complete we decided to snap up the last single room available in Alfonso VI (a four star hotel). The receptionist told us that although it is a single room it has two beds. The price was also the same or cheaper than many of the 3 star hotels (71€).

Our room wasn't too special (it was the last one) and I have to say I've stayed in better 3 star hotels. But it is Toledo....

The unique qualities of this hotel are the common room and bar. It is decked out in a medieval style with chairs that look fresh from a king’s court. There are also several knights armour keeping guard over you.

There is a special room you can hire for wedding receptions and such like that looks incredible. It is also linked with the 3 star hotel Carlos V and another restaurant. On entering they give you a ticket that entitles you to a ten per cent discount in the restaurants in all these places and the gift shop next door.

To be honest we didn’t eat in any of these places because we found the excellent art cáfe (see restaurant tips).

Hotel Principe**: Going for Albacete

Lovely rooms with air conditioning/heating, ensuite bathroom,TV and hairdryer. Breakfast is also included in the amazingly cheap price for the quality you get.

It is only a two star hotel yet is is as good as a three star hotel with a VERY resonable price of 50€ for a double room.

There is a one star hoel directly accross the street if you think this is a little much for your budget! I'm sure it would be as good in quality as a normal two star hotel in another city!

As tourists don't usually come to Albacete hotels are so much cheaper than a historic town of Albacete's size!
