Madrid Barajas airport to Atocha

by Janemei

Hi
I'm arriving in Madrid at 2:20pm and aim to take get to Atocha so I can catch the the train to Toledo from there. I want to plan my changeovers and also ask for estimated time. Can someone please kindly advise if I am changing at the right stops (least transfers?) and also how long will this all take if I want to meet the 3.50pm schedule @ Atocha.

Take line 8 and change @ Mars De Cristal
Take line 4 bound for Arguelles
Change @ Tribunal for line 1.
Alight @ Atocha to catch Avant bound for Toledo.

How long will this take? Is this the fastest route?

Many many thanks travellers.

You've made a slight mistake you need to get off at Bilbao metro stop instead of tribunal unless you want to change at alonso martinez onto line 10 to go 1 stop to tribunal but your best off staying on until Bilbao. It will take about 8 minutes to get from Barajas to Mar de cristal and from Mar de cristal to Bilbao on the brown line will probably take about 25-30 minutes and from Bilbao to Atocha will take about 10-ish minutes. Overall your looking at about 45 minutes but leave yourself an hour just to be safe. When you get to the metro it will cost you 2 euros (1 for the ticket and a 1 euro airport supplement) and you can change as many times as you like as long as you don't leave the metro station. If you do spend anytime in Madrid enjoy it as i've just got back from there and it's a nice place. Happy travels. Terry

Travel Tips for Toledo

Tajo

by Christianne

The guide of our group suggested on our going for a round.
As I was already tired of the sightseeing of the previous days (you know what I mean, one guide speaking without stop), I decided to explore the city on my own.
Some friends decided to follow me.

Feast of Corpus Christi

by FruitLover

The Feast of Corpus Christi falls on the Thursday of the ninth week after Easter and is the most extraordinary event on Toledo's religious calendar.
By chance, I was in Toledo in this very day, 15th June 2006.

Location: Plaza de Zocodover.

Swinging above Toledo roofs

by pinik

While walking around Toledo we were lucky to discover the great view point. We found it rather unexpectedly while taking a narrow street consisted from stairs. A couple of turns and we are here: a small ground with the swing on it!
While swinging I felt like flying above the ancient roofs of Toledo. Indescribable feeling!

I suppose, the thing is to find the place suddenly, so, I won't give more tips about the place location. Moreover, I'm not sure if I found the place again by myself the next time I'd come to Toledo... :)

Castle

by keeweechic

In Consuegra there is a restored castle on a ridge near a row of windmlls. It is thought that the original castle was constructed by Emperor Trajan although there is nothing in the records to substantiate this. According to historical facts the fortress or castle was built by Almanzor.

Location: Cerro Calderico Hill, Consuegra

Heavy Medieval Metal

by virtualpatrick

The other local handicraft being sold in Toledo is related to the Don Quixote metal theme - knights, swords, armor, knives.

This picture is of a store selling swords and other knight ornaments. Superimposed on the window is an image of the cathedral
