Return Train Tickets

by janetlee

I want to take a day trip from Madrid to Toledo. I note from www.renfe.es that there is a discount for my return AVE ticket online. (EUR 9 + EUR 5.4). If I buy the return ticket at the train station instead of online, do I still get a discount?

Re: Return Train Tickets

by Redang

On the web, you take discounts if you book 7 (20% I think) or 15 days in advance (60%).

If you travel during the week often the tickets are sold out.

Hi Redang, I make a research into the Renfe site. I find that I can not choose the WEB category no matter how many days in advance it is. I mean the ticket of Madrid-Toledo. There is only the Tarifa ganeral category. Is there any trick inside ??

Re: Return Train Tickets

Maybe, I don't know, it's sold out since thera are a few seats avialable for that offer annd they are sold out. Which day do you want to travel?

Re: Return Train Tickets

Plus, if you buy the ticket at the station, you should ge discount for return tickets and it depends on the day of the week: Mon-Thurs, more than Fri-Sun

Re: Return Train Tickets

Hi Redang,
It's my misunderstanding. Actually, I have bought a WEB category for Madrid-Barcelona for 60% discount, although it is only one leg.
But for Madrid-Toledo, anyone who buy both leg, only the return leg will be discount 40%. The category is "tarifa General", and do not depend on how advance you buy the ticket.
As of your experience, do I have to buy ticket in advance if I plan to go to Toledo on Monday 4th,May??

Re: Return Train Tickets

Well, I really don't know, www.renfe.es is awful and tricky, you must know more than maths or so! Maybe you don't get that discount because is Fri-Sun.

Monday 4 May seems a "normal". What you can do is try from time to time (you still have plenty of time) or, once in Madrid, buy the ticket in case all trains are full when you reach the station.

Travel Tips for Toledo

small City, narrow Streets

by pepples46

Toledo..rich on History first mentioned by the Romans 190 BC, Spains oldest City, and like Cordoba, Seville and Granada, Toledo can look back on a Moorish History as well. Art and outstanding Beauty, look around the Streets, with lovely Flower Basquets at the Window and enchanting Patios in and around Toledo. but the narrow, twisting streets can give some problem, the cars come through and often there is no way to go for a pedestrian, stay where you are, pressed against the wall, best or jump into a doorway..stay calm:-)) the Atmosphere in Toledo is something I treasure. neadly situated above the River Tajo which gave the City protection and Lifestream.

Damascene Ware

by keeweechic

Damascene or Damasquinado is the art of black steel items which are etched with 24ct gold thread but sometimes also silver and copper. The process involves lightly etching a design on steel with something like a stylus tool. The gold thread is then laid inside the edges and held down to form the delicate pattern.

Toledo - Panorama from History point of view

by Kuznetsov_Sergey

The history of Toledo is closely bound with the history of Spain. The city was one of the important spiritual and political centers of the country and one of the first city stirred to action against Muslim oppression. In spite of the fact that king Phillip II carried the capital to Madrid, there are a lot of magnificent monuments and a special timeless atmosphere of city from famous history of Toledo.

The Best In Spain

by keeweechic

Originally there were 13 windmills and these were handed down through the generations – father to son. Inside there are two levels. The heavy sacks of grain were hand carried to the top floor. The Windmills all have a name and they stopped being working windmills in the early 1980’s. Now restored, they are considered the best examples of windmills in Spain.

Toledanas y Mazapanes

by Gaby_G

Toledo has its "specialities"... In this case, the called "Mazapanes", that are a sweet made of almond...

Also they have bread (???) named "toledana" I tasted it and it was really good! So if you find them, try them...

And you can also find "artesanal candy" at the hmmm dont know the word... Well... the nons made them...

------------------------
