Casa del Cordon (House of the Cord)
by Beach_dog
A 14th century Palace, built by Don Pedro Fernández de Velasco. Its external stone carvings and detailing is very similar to the cathedral, with the same design of gargoyles and stone spires. It made me wonder if it used surplus material from the cathedral.
The Casa has an interesting history, Ferdinand and Isabel the Catholic monarchs were in residence here 1497, they recieved Christopher Columbus here after his second voyage to the Americas. Felipe I died in the palace in September 1506. Francois I, King of France was held a prisoner in the house after the battle of Pavia in 1525.
I´ve included more photos of the Palace in my travelogue.
Fountain - Fuente de Santa Maria.
by breughel
On the plaza at the principal façade of the cathedral stands the fountain of Santa Maria.
The fountain is composed of two parts, the inferior is made of human figures on strange aquatic animals, and the superior who contains the source, shows Mary supporting in her arms Jesus child.

"Burgos City"
Located in the center of the province with same name, Burgos is known above all for 2 things: the awesome Cathedral and because is one of the coldest cities in Spain.
So, put on your warmest clothes and come to discover a beautiful city full of history( it was the capital of the kingdom of Castile in the 11th century) , interesting monuments and charming people.
Around Burgos there are many places of great cultural importance such as the archaelogical site at Atapuerca (25 Km from Burgos city), evidence of the presence and lifeways of prehistoric human groups. Nowadays in the capital is being built a great museum about "Human Evolution"
