Travel Tips for Burgos
Burgos - Royal monastery of Las Huelgas.

Founded in 1180 this was originally a convent for noble cistercian sisters. From the outside it is very austere but is a splendid visit. Although the church was undergoing work when I was there I was most impressed by the wooden flooring. Unfortunately photography is prohibited inside, including the lovely cloisters. A real disappointment. The visits are guided and only in Spanish and costs 5 euros. Tickets are taken in the courtyard on the right hand side.
WALLS II

If you walk Sant Estaban street (this is the street you take to go to the castle) to the right you get to Arco de San Esteban (S. Estaban’s arch) , another old entrance to the city. And also will see some part of the old wall wich surrended the city.

Burgos is a lovely town located in Castilla- Leon region, founded in 884.
I didn’t spent much time there, and it was a pity :-(
The national hero "El Cid" from Spanish medieval history was born there. A medieval environment was evident in its buildings and alleys.
During my short visit I explored its monumental cathedral, which is one of the most beautiful gothic cathedrals in Europe.
