Aranda de Duero

The river Duero gives its name. It is famous for its Lamb (Lechazo, unique in the area and the best in the world hehehehe) and its wines (Denomination of origin Ribera de Duero) What can I say, if you buy a bottle from there, check if they say Castrillo de la Vega, maybe you are drinking wine of my family lol

Aranda de Duero was founded in mid-10th century to defend the natural limit of the river Duero. The 15 and 16th centuries were the best ages of this city.

The churches Santa Maria and San Juan deserve the visit.

Cathedral - IV

The picture shows another gate; this one communicates with Puerta de la Escalera Dorada (Golden Stairway Gate) inside the temple. Escalera Dorada is a Diego de Siloé's work, made in 1519.

A bit away from the centre but not for this reason you have to stop visiting it. You can go walking, it won’t take you more than 20 minutues. From Santa Maria’s arch cross the bridge and take Merce’s street on the right. Walk all along and after some minutes you’ll see a sing indicating where the monestery is. It’s a very beautiful place.

City of El Cid

I went to Burgos on my trip to Portugal. I didn't know anything about it before, but when I heard that El Cid had been there, I knew I had to go. And of course, there he was, on his horse. We were only there for an hour or so, but that gave us enough time to see the cathedral and have a drink.
