Hostal Manjon: Quiet in Burgos.
Not to be confused with a hostel, this is a quiet hotel on the 7th floor of an apartment building, close to the river and a 10 walk from the cathedral. Rooms are rather small but with an en-suite bathroom and toilet. 5 euros cheaper without the en-suite.
Unique Quality: A very nice welcome and a first chance to test our Spanish on the young hostess.

Hostal Hidalgo, one star: Cheap hostal in Burgos
The building is amazingly dilapidated and I stopped on the stairs to ask a couple of travellers if it was ok. They said it was basic but ok. Which sums it up really, and for 15€ a night I thought it was pretty reasonable.
Down side - the couple next door who spent all night arguing about him getting a job. Even though it was in Spanish the argument was so repetitive that it didn't take long to get the drift of it. But you can pay a lot more and still get noisy neighbours. So I would recommend it, it was cheap and clean, and the shared bathroom was also clean with plenty of toilet paper.
