Gread 3 night break
We were a bit worried about concerns other holidaymakers had made about Palma Bay Hotel, but we need not have worried, we had a great 3 night break at the begining of October.
The food was ok, the place clean and tidy our only complain was the room was tiny in (Sahara Block).
We would recomend the hotel for a break specialy out of season, as you do not have to wait to be served for drinks or meals.
OK for a short break
Went to Palma Bay with Nana (79), Helen (30), Me (28), Jack (5), Bethany (2) and Jasmine (2). Arrived at 11.30pm into a madness of people and smoke (the bar is where reception is) to find that there are no porters to help you, very handy with two pushchairs, an OAP, a 5 year old and four suitcases! Rooms are clean and tidy and with a hairdrier, the safety deposit box in my sisters room didn't work though. Only a short walk to the beach go to the marina side as the sand is very nice and the water is better for kids. For night life go the right hand side of the beach, the german bars are quite good there. Overall we had a good holiday there but there's some things you ought to be aware of: The lifts, make sure you hold the open door button, especially if you've got kids, they shut very quickly and don't stop if something is in their way- we got a couple of bruises. Other residents of the hotel don't know how to queue and quite often get in your lift without you and go. The food is not too bad, same thing with the queing though. There was no childrens entertainment at all, not even a bit of a disco for them so we had a bored 5 year old who wasn't interested in multilingual bingo (only takes an hour a game!). The staff are very busy and quite often takes a while for you to be served, there was 1 staff on the bars and reception wasn't much better,we also noticed that if you're spanish you get served before everyone else. I think I would go back again if I got another cheap deal.
I only stayed for 2 days but I wish I had been staying longer. All inclusive rate was very good value for money. Food was good and plenty of it.
Room was basic but still good value for money. Would recommend for families.
Its a great place
I have read a load of bad press on this hotel. Its all wrong! Its in a spanish area 300 mts from a great beach. The area does have a slightly worn feel but there are Tapas bars and local shops with a spanish bias....isnt that why we go to spain? There are predominantly German shops and resturants on the front but all that means is better quality food and clean toilets. The hotel is very clean if not a bit basic but great value for the price. The food is varied, plentyful and well cooked but if u want nuggets and chips there is a snack bar open all day.Or stay at home?
The only downside? The evening entertainment. Either get drunk and laugh at it, take some playing cards and a good book or go to the beach for a stroll. The rep advised me that this is going to improve soon. AND IF ITS HOT...HIRE A FAN. The brochure does say no A.C. Thanks to Marie...our 1st Choice rep...she was golden. Date of hols...late August for 14 days.
We arrived late evening (10.30 pm ish) on Monday 4th October 2004 and our first impressions of the hotel was very good. I had read some reports prior to going and was slightly worried i.e. regarding food etc. As soon as we got there the kids went straight to the snack bar and had - you guessed it - nuggets and chips - they thoroughly enjoyed them. We were in the Accapulco block, the room was small and basic and we were above the stage - noisy. The following day we asked to be moved and we were without any fuss to another room in the same block and it had air conditioning and tv. The only downside is the drinks - only allowed 2 each and when there are 2 adults and 1 child it means 2 of you always having to go to the bar. Our party consisted of 7 therefore we were constantly having to get up and go to the bar. Food excellent - good choice. Beach very nice. Alot of Spanish and Germans were arriving when we left on the 11th. Overall had a great time. Might be back next year.
Ive just arrived back from there this morning, and had to comment on this hotel after reading some comments on here i was mortified into going and tried to change... however it was lovely we were put in cocobaner block which is tucked away from the noise we did ask fro a ground floor room and we were put on the top floor howvere the view was so stunning we decided to stay there, we found this complex big with lots to do we eat and drunk like pigs its fantastic value for money.. the food is lovely there is a a barbecue every day from 1pm till 3 pm lovely pizza aswell the snack bar is a bit crap and the rule about nothing to be taken out was a joke!!! the staff are very friendly, the nights entertainment was rubbish same old songs but bingo quite funny there are a lot of scots and germans but this was not a problem i would go back tommorrow with first choice it was fab !!!!!!
think before booking!
This was our first visit to Majorca, and because of what we encountered at this so called 3***hotel we will not be returning to the island. It can only be compared to that of a youth hostel, the food was lousy, rooms very basic, having to stand in line when requiring refreshments and for it to be served up in plastic tumblers, dirty& wet in all the public areas of the hotel and ignorant staff.October 2003
we loved it.
This was Are first holiday abroad in oct 2001. it was spottlesly clean. rooms Were kept clean. a maid was on duty all day. the food was excellent. the entertainment was brilliant. the only down fall was tryin to keep the kids Occupied. they were bored. so we visited the aqua park which is 5 mins In taxi from hotel. it was brilliant. water slides. the hotel even supplied Us with pack lunches. to take. that was in october 2001. I just cant believe How much the hotel has changed. there was no quieng up when we went And you was allowed has many drinks has you wanted. well I DONT THINK I WILL BE GOING BACK THERE.
