    Hostal Albany - Leon.

    by

This small hotel sits just on the corner of the plaza, in front of the cathedral. You couldn't be any closer if you wanted. The hotel has had a makeover recently and you can choose between a yellow, blue, green or red room. A little garish but very comfortable and clean. We paid 53,50 euros for the double room. Being so close and so cheap !!!

    *Recommended in Michelin's "green guides"*.

Unique Quality: The view onto the cathedral.

Directions: If you have the front entrance to the cathedral behind you the hotel is in the corner over to your left. Entrance to the hotel is in the calle La Paloma, 30 metres down.

Travel Tips for León

OLD TOWN

by Hosell

Not far from the Cathedral starts the area called Old Town of Leon. You'll find some narrow streets and a few interesting things to see.Don't miss a visit to Leon's Parlament Building, there are also some guided tours and in English available aswell.Walking by the old and new cities you'll find also some rotundas or squares with a nice fountain on it like this one.
There is a place in the old town called "Barrio Humedo" (Wet Quarter) it is named this name because the numerous bars and restaurants that you can find walking by the narrow streets. This is a very nice place of the city to try some of the Spanish Tapas or a nice meal, you'll find a lot to choose from!!.

Leon - Plaza Mayor.

by pfsmalo

Without the feeling of being hemmed in the plaza has a very intimate feel to it. A real centre of town, little staircases taking you off elsewhere, the really beautiful arcades. I had the pleasure of watching the sun go down over the top of the town hall, splendid.

Streets of Leon

by pabertra

The streets of Leon, as in any Spanish city, teem with life most of the day. This is the main shopping street along where all the tourist sights lie. I found this street particularly picturesque, with its old restored buildings stealing the spotlight.

The Pulchra Leonina and the city around it

by DanielF

A meticulous work of resoration of Lion's historical area has turned this city into one of the most attractive in North Spain.

Not in vain, the capital of one of the kingdoms that merged into what is today known as Spain has accumulated an irrepeatable architectural legacy along many centuries where periodes of apogee and decline have alterned.
