Parador of Lerma: Sleeping in a "Palacio Ducal"

In the highest part of the city of Lerma, on one of the sides of Plaza Mayor, raises the Palacio Ducal built for the duke of Lerma at the beginning of the 17th c. The duke of Lerma was the favourite of King Philippe III what explains the magnificence of this building with the central yard surrounded with galleries. The charm of the present Parador is, of course, due to the architecture and decor of this castle.
The reception was kind and fetched our luggage from outside and led it to our rooms
They practise English and a little of French.
Our standard type rooms were situated on the back with balcony and a sight extending dozens of Km. Indeed behind the palace the ground falls in an abrupt way on the open country.
Large rooms with high ceiling. Furniture in the ancient style.
Public parking on the square and a private garage of the hotel at 50 m.
Breakfast corresponding to the standards of a hotel ****.
We did not dine in the Parador, the restaurant was already full at 21 h.

Lerma is also a good place to visit Burgos and its famous cathedral at 40 Km to the north.
A very good experience.
