Travel Tips for Salamanca
Salamanca Tip

And here's a photo of Catedral Nueva... (the newer one). Fortunately for me, the majority of Salamanca's monuments are located inside the city center which is really compact enough to explore on foot. It took me just a short few hours to explore the Old City... where I managed to see the 2 catedrals, the 13th century university (one of Europe's oldest and most distinguished) and of course, the Plaza Mayor.
Sit down at the Plaza Mayor and listen to the tuna
by Sonia69
One thing that any tourist shouldn't miss is to sit down at any terrace of the Plaza Mayor while having a drink and listening to the songs of the romantic tuna. To see them play is the last romantic things people can see in the world, there is nothing compared to the tuna because of different reasons: The tuna is a very ancient institution, dating back to the 10th century, they wear clothes from the 17th century and they sing romantic songs in the street, so that to see them play in the Plaza Mayor is the most romantic and beautiful things tourists should see. There is nothing compared to them.
The best tuna is the funa of the Salamanca Medical Faculty and apart from singing very well, they are very nice.

I flew to Madrid and then got a bus from Chamartin to Salamanca, which took about 2.5 hours. Smoking is, unfortunately, permitted on the bus.
Dont really need public transport if you're staying in town and just hanging around Salamanca
Palace of the Anaya School
by bambino36
Neoclassic style, the Anaya Palace dates from 1762.
The main front contains beautiful grates in each of the ten windows of the main floor, and with as many balconies as the second floor. In its center, a great door followed by set of stairs with four magnificent columns exposing the coat of arms.
The building today houses the university's Faculty of Modern Languages
Plaza Mayor (Main Square)
by wanderlust23
Finally, we make our way up Rua Mayor to the Plaza Mayor, a perfect place to end our tour. In this beautiful, arcaded square, Salamantinos plan to meet later under the clock for some ice cream at the Heladeria. Being the central part of Salamanca, people run into friends here at any time of day, making the Plaza Mayor the perfect meeting place.
