I saw these russet-toned glazed pottery pieces all over town. We have an almost identical pitcher from eons ago when Dad was stationed at Torrejon and we lived in Madrid for a few years. Sighhhhh, the things are still probably glazed with deadly poisonous lead, don't you think...just like the good old days, hehehehe. But they're kind of nice to look at. JUST to look at, good grief, not to buy! No more junque...;-P
This tip is two in one really! If you go into the ticket offic e for the Alcazar you will see some very nice tiled pictures on the walls. This is one of them.
It maps out the Provinces of Spain and the big towns.
As you can see Segovia is fairly central and borders the Madrid Province. It is a nice day trip from the capital. Aquaduct, Cathedral, Alcazar and Suckling Pig!
Yemas de Segovia are a speciality sweetmeat from Segovia. They are a kind of sweet sticky pastry and very hard to describe other than that.
To give you an idea of the sort of damage this will do to your arteries check out s typical recipe:

Still it's worth trying at least one!
make sure you notice things above and beyond just what your tourguide is speaking about. Look out of every window to the rolling prairie and town below, and when you find a view that catches your eye, frame it, capture it forever.
There are so many local restaurants, that I will just tell you about what is the typical food, so, if you get to finally found somewere to eat (at lunch hours all the restaurants are FULL) you can know what to ask for...

* Wheat bread
* Trout
* And ask for a typical dessert...
