Shall we rub it???
by belgianchocolate
We were walking down the city when we
came across this nice square with a fountain
in the middle.
Two naked men seem to push the fountain
to another side.
When we took a closer look we saw that the
*** of one of those men was shining bright...
It just made me wonder...
We got a lot of statues in Belgium that are
known to bring good luck rubbing this
or that parth...
I was tempted to try this one ... it was really
shinning bright yellow - but I didn't dare to.
So I can't tell you if it works.
Do you think there could be another
explanation for the shiny fraction ?

La Catedral
by lbhspatriot
Building of the Catedral was comissioned in 1580 by Philip II to Juan de Herrera.
When the King died in 1598, work came to a stop for 18 years, it was Alberto Churriguera who resumed construction, drawing up plans or the exterior, these contrast with to the severe lines of Herrera which makes the Cathedral even more interesting. The classical, interior conforms more to Herrera's designs. A highlight is the 1551 altarpiece in the main apsidal chapel, the work of Juan de Juni. Art critics have commented that his polychrome figures seem "truly alive." The cathedral is in the heart of the city, east of Plaza Mayor and north of Plaza de Santa Cruz.
When I was visiting a small admission fee was charged.

"Teatro Calderon"
Plaza Espana: It's a fruit, vegetable and flower market place by day and a meeting point for groups of young people in the evening.
Oh, and there are plenty of buses and taxis from here too!

"Iceskating in the main square"
Great for kids over Christmas/New Year. Skates are for hire. I recommend you make your child wear a helmet although the locals didn't bother.
