1 or 2 nights for Valladolid?

by Mahieu

I'd like to visit Valladolid in March. We land at 14h and departure back to Belgium is around 15h20 the next day. Is that enough time to see the city or is it better to stay 2 nights instead of one? Is there enough to see/do if I stay for 2 nights?

Thanks!

I think 1 night is enough. The city has a pretty old part, but it's rather small.

Greetings

I totally agree. Valladolid is hardly Spain's most exciting city destination, although it is pleasant enough for a short visit, perfect as a base to explore more interesting cities nearby such as Salamanca, Leon or Burgos. One night should be enough. The old part of town is compact enough to cover in just a short stroll.

Have fun.

Travel Tips for Valladolid

Fests Virgen de San Lorenzo

by zindara

The local fest in Valladolid is the week of 8th. September.
Lots of concerts, parties, cinema, theatre, dancing, eating, etc... and a loooot of wine (in and out as you can see in the picture...)!!!!!
But the most important a lot a lot a lot of fun!!!
If you are in Spain that week, try to come!!!

Ayuntamiento / City Hall

by zindara

Located in the main square is is a nice building. All the houses in the square were painted in red some years ago to keep the same styile. The square itself is a nice place to wander around specially in the weekends.

Hint: there is an area known as "zona de vinos" (wine's area) just behing the Main Square... should I explain it in more detail?

The Labirynth City

"The ex-capital of Spain"

Valladolid is know for its history, as it is the former capital of Spain (until 1561), now it is the capital of the province of Valladolid and of the community of Castile and Leon. As this town located in north-central Spain it is a witness to Spanish history, culture and tradition. The Plaza Major is the cities heart and here you can meet fellow tourist or locals and I guarantee you, everyone is up for a chat!

"Home of Don Quixote"

Valladolid due to its place in Spanish history is the home to many recognized characters, one of them is Cervantes who lived here for a short period of time and who created one of his famous novels "Don Quixote" in Valladolid, even today you can sense his presence in the well preserved Casa de Cervates that is open for tourists.
There is another you can visit, as Christopher Columbus died in Valladolid and today you can also visit his House-Museum, where the navigator spend the last years of his life.
There is a lot to see, hear and experience in Valladolid, so enjoy your stay :)

I called this page the Labirynth city as for me Valladolid is nothing but a huge maize! With little alleys, streets that intersect each other it might be confusing to find your way around. But don't hesistate to ask, the locals are friendly and always willing to help.
